Cultura de Inovação: Conceitos e Modelos Teóricos
This study portrays the state of the art in scientific literature on the culture of innovation, with the objective of
characterizing its meaning and especially describing different theoretical models that seek to understand how it
occurs in an organizational environment. To enrich the analysis, research results show the relationship between
organizational culture and innovation. The literature review was carried out in 2011 using the following databases:
Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES), Proquest and Directory of Open
Access Journals (DOAJ). The keywords used were the expression culture of innovation and the joint terms
culture and innovation, only full articles were included in the research. Culture of innovation articles that were
cited in the papers identified in the literature search were also considered. The analysis consisted of 40 articles,
based on the predefined criteria, and showed that this is a topic of interest for researchers in different world regions.
It is a complex theme determined by factors with a systemic character. There is a predominance of quantitative
research and strong evidence of a relationship between organizational culture and innovation, which requires
further research to test the theoretical models proposed by these different authors
Adapted lean thinking for healthcare services: an empirical study in the traditional Chinese hospital
This paper looks at how Lean Thinking can be adapted using a model derived from a case study of a large Traditional Chinese Hospital. After a restructuring in divisions and the implementation of the care programmers and clinical pathways, hospital management found that they had no tools to evaluate if these changes were resulting in a Lean Thinking approach on the work-floor. In agreement with hospital management, an existing tool of Business Process Reengineering measurement was adopted and adapted to the specific context of healthcare. This paper reports on how the quantitative model was changed and validated in order to come up with a useful instrument to measure the Lean Thinking of the employees in the hospital. The Hospital Lean Thinking (HLT) tool can be useful to measure the effects of changes that are assumed to lead to more Lean Thinking or even patient focus. In this way the pay-off of these investments can be made more tangible. The HLT tool offers hospitals a way to evaluate how they are evolving towards more Lean Thinking
An Affective Image Positioning of Las Vegas Hotels
The key to a hotel\u27s positioning is to understand how it is perceived by its customers. Previous research has focused on cognitive attributes (e.g., price, service quality, amenities), yet it can be argued that customers also use their feelings to differentiate hotels. This study explores the positioning of major hotels on the Las Vegas Strip based on their affective image. By using Multi-Dimensional Scaling (MDS), twelve hotels are mapped based on the photo images. Additionally, a cluster analysis is performed to aid the interpretation of the MDS configuration. Implications of our findings for hospitality managers are discussed. © 2013 Taylor and Francis Group, LLC
