An Empirical Analysis of Energy Demand in Namibia
Using a unique database of end-user local energy data and the recently developed Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) bounds testing approach to cointegration, we estimate the long-run elasticities of the Namibian energy demand function at both aggregated level and by type of energy (electricity, petrol and diesel) for the period 1980 to 2002. Our main results show that energy consumption responds positively to changes in GDP and negatively to changes in energy price and air temperature. The differences in price elasticities across fuels uncovered by this study have significant implications for energy taxation by Namibian policy makers. We do not find any significant cross-price elasticities between different fuel types.Energy demand; ARDL; Cointegration
AURA_ A MEDIA DEVICE FOR NEW NARRATION SPACES IN MUSEUM CONTEXTS
The long months of social distance to which the pandemic has forced us have certainly accelerated the idea that the remediation of the concept of distance in a digital horizon can open up new spaces of negotiation for many social and cultural
practices in the future. But it has also, dramatically, highlighted the limits and risks contained in the very idea that the
experience of the meta-universe can really do without the mediation of physical reality and human direct intervention. The
reflections and design experience proposed here therefore aim to reflect on the role that the new technologies and traditional
professionals are playing in relation with the phygital cultural experience. The idea of the contemporary museum is indagated,
questioning, however, the quality of the 'relationship' between the work of art and the user and the ways in which design can
respond creatively to the demand for cultural consumption by activating new processes of attribution of meaning
Predicting lymphoma development in patients with Sjögren's syndrome
ABSTRACTIntroduction: The issue of predicting lymphoma in primary Sjogren's syndrome (pSS) starts from its clinical and biologic essence, i.e., an autoimmune exocrinopathy with sicca syndrome, infl..

Patient-reported experience and health-related quality of life in patients with primary Sjögren's syndrome in Europe
Objective. The study aims to provide novel findings on geographic variation in the management of primary Sjögren's syndrome (pSS) in Europe, an underdiagnosed, long-term autoimmune disease. Methods. Starting from the lack of comparable information on patients' experience, quality and efficiency of care delivered to pSS patients in Europe, the approach is to collect and analyse patients reported data from an international survey. To assess and compare access and quality of care to pSS along their care-path we developed and validated a questionnaire administered to a large cohort of pSS patients in selected European countries. Regression models have been applied to survey data to compare quality and volumes of care across Europe. Results. Both follow-up and number of visits with a specialist of the patient are influenced by the severity of the disease with differences among countries. The results show some extent of variations in access and treatments delivered to pSS patients and also their perceived quality of life and satisfaction for SS care in Europe. Conclusion. Findings contribute to support healthcare professionals' decision making and the organisation of care delivery by taking into consideration the patients' point of view and preferences
The role of working memory on writing processes.
Literature has extensively demonstrated the coordination role of working memory (WM) in complex tasks such as writing. However, previous studies mostly concentrated on the relation between passive WM (e.g., WM span) components and specific writing tasks (e.g., dictation). Here, we aimed to investigate the relationship between different writing skills and the performance on a WM updating task measuring the more active components of WM. From a pool of 160 Italian pupils (grades 3–5), we selected 46 children divided in two groups based on their WM updating performance. The first group consisted of 21 children with low WM updating performance (≤10th percentile), the second group consisted of 25 children with high WM updating performance (≥90th percentile). All children were tested on a battery of writing tasks to assess writing speed, orthographic skills, and competences in expressive writing. MANOVAs and a discriminant analysis were computed to assess group differences and the contribution of the different writing tests in correctly predicting group membership. The results revealed that children with high WM updating performance scored significantly higher than children with low WM updating performance on most of the writing tasks. These results highlight the relevant role of the active components of WM on writing processes. In addition, they suggest that the improvement of writing skills should rely not only on the training of the specific processes implied in this complex task, but also on the training of the cognitive processes that support them, such as active WM processes
Salicylic acid for the treatment of melasma: new acquisitions for monitoring the clinical improvement.
OBJECTIVE:
The Melasma Area and Severity Index (MASI) and the Melasma Severity Score (MSS) are calculated on the basis of only a subjective clinical assessment. This raises the need to have an objective score, uniform in the evaluation by different clinicians. The purpose of this study was to establish if the images by Canfield Reveal Imager can be correlated to MASI score to better evaluate the clinical efficacy of salicylic acid 33% peeling in the treatment of melasma respect to the clinical observation.
METHODS:
The study was a voluntary observational study. Twenty female patients affected with melasma, aged between 30 and 60 years, were included in the study. Treatment with salicylic acid 33% was performed once a month, for a total of four times. The dermatologist (Doc A) examined each patient's melasma areas using MASI score, at the face-to-face observation and at Reveal images evaluation during the first (T0) and the end point time (T4). Digital photographs were also evaluated by another experienced dermatologist (Doc B), who has never seen clinically the patients before and who evaluated MASI score by Reveal images at time T0 and T4.
RESULTS:
Student's t-test and linear regression test were performed, showing statistically significant values comparing MASI score obtained by digital photo and MASI score obtained clinically.
CONCLUSION:
The monitoring of the improvement by Reveal images can optimize the treatment approach and the efficacy of same dermocosmetics procedures can be revised following standard criteria
