Generalized thermalization in quenched free Fermionic models

We investigate generalized thermalization in an isolated free Fermionic chain evolving from an out of equilibrium initial state through a sudden quench. We consider the quench where a Fermionic chain is broken into two disjoint chains. We focus on the evolution of the local observables namely, occupation number, information sharing and out-of-time-order correlations after the quench and study the relaxation of the observable, leading to generalized Gibbs ensemble for the system in the thermodynamic limit. We obtain the light cone formed by the evolution of the observables along the Fermionic lattice chain due to the sudden quench which abides by the Lieb-Robinson bound in quantum systems. We also analytically study a simpler model which captures the essential features of the system. Our analysis strongly suggest that the internal interactions within the system do not remain of much importance once the quench is sufficiently strong.Comment: 14 Pages, 14 Figure

The proposed system initially: i) decodes the code-streams associated to the coarse (i.e., the lowest) wavelet resolution, and ii) discards the most irrelevant images to the query image that are selected based on the similarities estimated among the coarse resolution features of the query image and those of the archive images. Then, the code-streams associated to the sub-sequent resolution of the remaining images in the archive are decoded and the most irrelevant images are selected by considering the features associated to both resolutions. This is achieved by estimating the similarities between the query image and remaining images by giving higher weights to the features associated to the finer resolution while assigning lower weights to those related to the coarse resolution. To this end, the pyramid match kernel similarity measure is exploited. These processes are iterated until the code-streams associated to the highest wavelet resolution are decoded only for a very small set of images. By this way, the proposed system exploits a multiresolution and hierarchical feature space and accomplish an adaptive RS CBIR with significantly reduced retrieval time. Experimental results obtained on an archive of aerial images confirm the effectiveness of the proposed system in terms of retrieval accuracy and time when compared to the standard CBIR systems

Fifteen on-farm experiments were conducted in tropical tuber crops intercropped in coconut gardens in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam and Pathanamthitta districts, Kerala, during 2018-2021 for the validation of customized fertilizers formulated from on-station developed Site-Specific Nutrient Management (SSNM) practices. The validation experiments were done under the aegis of ICAR-Central Tuber Crops Research Institute, Thiruvananthapuram, in a project funded by Coconut Development Board, Kochi, Kerala.Three treatments viz., T1: SSNM technology using customized fertilizers (CF) (SSNM), T2: present POP recommendation (POP) and T3: farmer's practice (FP) was evaluated in cassava, elephant foot yam and greater yam intercropped with coconut. System productivity and profitability were worked out for the different treatments based on yield and income from coconut and tuber crops in the respective treatments. Pooled analysis indicated that the coconut yield under intercropping with tuber crops under SSNM using CF was higher by 12-23% in comparison to coconut monocrop maintained unscientifically by the farmers. Tuber yield under CF proved superior over POP by 9.3% and FP by 37.4%. On an average, the net income from coconut-tuber crop intercropping system under SSNM using CF was ₹ 270396 per ha, whereas it was ₹ 198047 in POP and ₹146358 in FP and significantly outperformed sole coconut (₹ 7764).Thus, the results of the validation experiments indicated that the use of customized fertilizers in tuberous intercrops offered resilience with higher system productivity and profitability from coconut gardens

The validation experiments were performed under the aegis of the ICAR-Central Tuber Crops Research Institute, Thiruvananthapuram, in a project funded by the Coconut Development Board, Kochi, Kerala. Three treatments viz., T1: organic farming technology (OF), T2: POP recommendation (POP) and T3: farmer's practice (FP) were evaluated in cassava, elephant foot yam and greater yam intercropped with coconut. System productivity and profitability were worked out for the different treatments based on yield and income from coconut and tuber crops in the respective treatments. Pooled analysis indicated that the coconut yield under intercropping with tuber crops in organic mode was high by 7-13% in comparison to monocrop of coconut maintained by the farmers. Tuber yield under organic management was superior over POP by 14% and FP by 27%. On an average, the net income from coconut-tuber crop intercropping system under organic management was ₹ 2,36,133 ha-1, whereas it was ₹ 1,56,904 ha-1 in POP and ₹ 1,32,706 ha-1 in FP and significantly outperformed sole coconut (₹ 7,764 ha-1). Thus, the results indicated that organic management of coconut-tuber crop system offered resilience with higher system productivity and profitability

Review of Various Harvesting Options for Cassava

    Get PDF
Harvesting plays a critical role in the cassava production value chain. A review of some existing cassava harvesting options is necessary to facilitate the proper adaption and uptake of improved harvesting methods applicable to farmers from different parts of the globe. In terms of capacity, manual, semi-manual and fully mechanised harvesting options respectively require about 22–51 man-hha-1, 16-45 man-hha-1 and 1–4 man-hha-1. An added advantage with mechanised options is that the field is left ploughed after harvesting with savings on fuel, time and cost. Mechanised harvesters work best on ridged fields with minimal trash or weeds and relatively dry soils (12–16% d.b. moisture content). Earlier attempts at mechanised harvesting have been affected by constraints such as soil characteristics, nature and size of tubers, depth and width of cluster and bond between tubers and the soil, leading to high tuber damage. Though less research attention is given to cassava harvesting mechanisation, that aspect of the global cassava transformation agenda has always been the problem. There is still room for improvement in the provision of appropriate harvesting options for cassava worldwide and a more concerted effort from both the government and private sector is vital

Embodiments presented herein relate to throughput guidance within a multipath environment. In a proxy deployment, the proxy function may be responsible for combining the plurality of throughput guidances received over individual paths. For example, an approach to combining throughput guidances using functions such as SUM ( ), MAX ( ), or AVG ( ) may be employed according to a proxy policy definition

Pull straighten and push technique: A simple solution for guidewire realignment to facilitate stent and device delivery in coronary angioplasty

Coronary guidewire bias prevents easy passage of interventional devices such as stents and balloons during percutaneous coronaryintervention (PCI). Realigning guidewire into the central part of the lumen, away from the coronary wall helps the tracking devicesin situations with significant guidewire bias. There are several available techniques to facilitate stent delivery in tortuous vessel;however, these techniques have their own limitations and can be expensive and time-consuming. A new maneuver for easy passageof stents and balloons in these situations by guidewire realignment is described in this report. This maneuver namely “pull straightenand push technique” demonstrated an easy procedure to successfully execute stents or devices deployment in challenging PCIs
