Flavour Physics in the Soft Wall Model
We extend the description of flavour that exists in the Randall-Sundrum (RS)
model to the soft wall (SW) model in which the IR brane is removed and the
Higgs is free to propagate in the bulk. It is demonstrated that, like the RS
model, one can generate the hierarchy of fermion masses by localising the
fermions at different locations throughout the space. However, there are two
significant differences. Firstly the possible fermion masses scale down, from
the electroweak scale, less steeply than in the RS model and secondly there now
exists a minimum fermion mass for fermions sitting towards the UV brane. With a
quadratic Higgs VEV, this minimum mass is about fifteen orders of magnitude
lower than the electroweak scale. We derive the gauge propagator and despite
the KK masses scaling as , it is demonstrated that the
coefficients of four fermion operators are not divergent at tree level. FCNC's
amongst kaons and leptons are considered and compared to calculations in the RS
model, with a brane localised Higgs and equivalent levels of tuning. It is
found that since the gauge fermion couplings are slightly more universal and
the SM fermions typically sit slightly further towards the UV brane, the
contributions to observables such as and , from the
exchange of KK gauge fields, are significantly reduced.Comment: 33 pages, 15 figures, 5 tables; v2: references added; v3:

Double-Lepton Polarization Asymmetries and Branching Ratio of the B\rar \gamma l^+ l^- transition in Universal Extra Dimension
We study the radiative dileptonic B \rar \gamma l^+ l^- transition in the
presence of a universal extra dimension in the Applequist-Cheng-Dobrescu model.
In particular, using the corresponding form factors calculated via light cone
QCD sum rules, we analyze the branching ratio and double lepton polarization
asymmetries related to this channel and compare the results with the
predictions of the standard model. We show how the results deviate from
predictions of the standard model at lower values of the compactification
factor () of extra dimension.Comment: 20 Pages and 8 Figure
The s ---> d gamma decay in and beyond the Standard Model
The New Physics sensitivity of the s ---> d gamma transition and its
accessibility through hadronic processes are thoroughly investigated. Firstly,
the Standard Model predictions for the direct CP-violating observables in
radiative K decays are systematically improved. Besides, the magnetic
contribution to epsilon prime is estimated and found subleading, even in the
presence of New Physics, and a new strategy to resolve its electroweak versus
QCD penguin fraction is identified. Secondly, the signatures of a series of New
Physics scenarios, characterized as model-independently as possible in terms of
their underlying dynamics, are investigated by combining the information from
all the FCNC transitions in the s ---> d sector.Comment: 54 pages, 14 eps figure
The Effective Lagrangian for Bulk Fermions in Models with Extra Dimensions
We compute the dimension 6 effective Lagrangian arising from the tree level
integration of an arbitrary number of bulk fermions in models with warped extra
dimensions. The coefficients of the effective operators are written in terms of
simple integrals of the metric and are valid for arbitrary warp factors, with
or without an infrared brane, and for a general Higgs profile. All relevant
tree level fermion effects in electroweak and flavor observables can be
computed using this effective Lagrangian.Comment: 22 pages. V2: typos corrected, matches published versio
A fourth generation, anomalous like-sign dimuon charge asymmetry and the LHC
A fourth chiral generation, with in the range GeV and a moderate value of the CP-violating phase can explain the
anomalous like-sign dimuon charge asymmetry observed recently by the D0
collaboration. The required parameters are found to be consistent with
constraints from other and decays. The presence of such quarks, apart
from being detectable in the early stages of the LHC, would also have important
consequences in the electroweak symmetry breaking sector.Comment: 18 pages, 9 figures, Figure 1 is modified, more discussions are added

The Impact of a 4th Generation on Mixing and CP Violation in the Charm System
We study D0-D0 mixing in the presence of a fourth generation of quarks. In
particular, we calculate the size of the allowed CP violation which is found at
the observable level well beyond anything possible with CKM dynamics. We
calculate the semileptonic asymmetry a_SL and the mixing induced CP asymmetry
eta_fS_f which are correlated with each other. We also investigate the
correlation of eta_fS_f with a number of prominent observables in other mesonic
systems like epsilon'/epsilon, Br(K_L -> pi0 nu nu), Br(K+ -> pi+ nu nu),
Br(B_s ->mu+ mu-), Br(B_d -> mu+ mu-) and finally S_psi phi in the B_s system.
We identify a clear pattern of flavour and CP violation predicted by the SM4
model: While simultaneous large 4G effects in the K and D systems are possible,
accompanying large NP effects in the B_d system are disfavoured. However this
behaviour is not as pronounced as found for the LHT and RSc models. In contrast
to this, sizeable CP violating effects in the B_s system are possible unless
extreme effects in eta_fS_f are found, and Br(B_s ->mu+ mu-) can be strongly
enhanced regardless of the situation in the D system. We find that, on the
other hand, S_psi phi > 0.2 combined with the measured epsilon'/epsilon
significantly diminishes 4G effects within the D system.Comment: 22 pages, 23 figures, v2 (references added
Flavor Physics in an SO(10) Grand Unified Model
In supersymmetric grand-unified models, the lepton mixing matrix can possibly
affect flavor-changing transitions in the quark sector. We present a detailed
analysis of a model proposed by Chang, Masiero and Murayama, in which the
near-maximal atmospheric neutrino mixing angle governs large new b -> s
transitions. Relating the supersymmetric low-energy parameters to seven new
parameters of this SO(10) GUT model, we perform a correlated study of several
flavor-changing neutral current (FCNC) processes. We find the current bound on
B(tau -> mu gamma) more constraining than B(B -> X_s gamma). The LEP limit on
the lightest Higgs boson mass implies an important lower bound on tan beta,
which in turn limits the size of the new FCNC transitions. Remarkably, the
combined analysis does not rule out large effects in B_s-B_s-bar mixing and we
can easily accomodate the large CP phase in the B_s-B_s-bar system which has
recently been inferred from a global analysis of CDF and DO data. The model
predicts a particle spectrum which is different from the popular Constrained
Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (CMSSM). B(tau -> mu gamma) enforces
heavy masses, typically above 1 TeV, for the sfermions of the degenerate first
two generations. However, the ratio of the third-generation and
first-generation sfermion masses is smaller than in the CMSSM and a (dominantly
right-handed) stop with mass below 500 GeV is possible.Comment: 44 pages, 5 figures. Footnote and references added, minor changes,

Covariant Description of Flavor Conversion in the LHC Era
A simple covariant formalism to describe flavor and CP violation in the
left-handed quark sector in a model independent way is provided. The
introduction of a covariant basis, which makes the standard model approximate
symmetry structure manifest, leads to a physical and transparent picture of
flavor conversion processes. Our method is particularly useful to derive robust
bounds on models with arbitrary mechanisms of alignment. Known constraints on
flavor violation in the K and D systems are reproduced in a straightforward
manner. Assumptions-free limits, based on top flavor violation at the LHC, are
then obtained. In the absence of signal, with 100 fb^{-1} of data, the LHC will
exclude weakly coupled (strongly coupled) new physics up to a scale of 0.6 TeV
(7.6 TeV), while at present no general constraint can be set related to Delta
t=1 processes. LHC data will constrain Delta F=2 contributions via same-sign
tops signal, with a model independent exclusion region of 0.08 TeV (1.0 TeV).
However, in this case, stronger bounds are found from the study of CP violation
in D-bar D mixing with a scale of 0.57 TeV (7.2 TeV). In addition, we apply our
analysis to models of supersymmetry and warped extra dimension. The minimal
flavor violation framework is also discussed, where the formalism allows to
distinguish between the linear and generic non-linear limits within this class
of models.Comment: 24 pages, 6 figures. Some corrections and clarifications; references

On theories of enhanced CP violation in B_s,d meson mixing
The DO collaboration has measured a deviation from the standard model (SM)
prediction in the like sign dimuon asymmetry in semileptonic b decay with a
significance of 3.2 sigma. We discuss how minimal flavour violating (MFV)
models with multiple scalar representations can lead to this deviation through
tree level exchanges of new MFV scalars. We review how the two scalar doublet
model can accommodate this result and discuss some of its phenomenology. Limits
on electric dipole moments suggest that in this model the coupling of the
charged scalar to the right handed u-type quarks is suppressed while its
coupling to the d-type right handed quarks must be enhanced. We construct an
extension of the MFV two scalar doublet model where this occurs naturally.Comment: 10 pages, 7 figures, v3 final JHEP versio
