A Statewide Survey of School Counselorsâ Perceptions on School Issues
School counselors maintain a unique professional role in a school setting. This article explores the perceptions of 255 school counselors in the State of Michigan on three contemporary school counseling issues: (a) pre-service training, (b) the professional role of counselors, and (c) school- related issues, related to the professional role of counselors. The results found no differences based on age among school counselors regarding school issues, while gender differences were found on three school issues. The results suggest that on certain issues, school counselors continue to be challenged with role ambiguity
Suspending Lefschetz fibrations, with an application to Local Mirror Symmetry
We consider the suspension operation on Lefschetz fibrations, which takes
p(x) to p(x)-y^2. This leaves the Fukaya category of the fibration invariant,
and changes the category of the fibre (or more precisely, the subcategory
consisting of a basis of vanishing cycles) in a specific way. As an
application, we prove part of Homological Mirror Symmetry for the total spaces

Knowledge of and attitudes to sports drinks of adolescents living in South Wales, UK
Background: The UK sports drinks market has a turnover in excess of ÂŁ200M. Adolescents consume 15.6% of total energy as free sugars, much higher than the recommended 5%. Sugar sweetened beverages, including sports drinks, account for 30% of total free sugar intake for those aged 11-18 years.
Objective: To investigate childrenâs knowledge and attitudes surrounding sports drinks.
Method: 183 self-complete questionnaires were distributed to four schools in South Wales. Children aged 12 - 14 were recruited to take part. Questions focussed on knowledge of who sports drinks are aimed at; the role of sports drinks in physical activity and the possible detrimental effects to oral health. Recognition of brand logo and sports ambassadors and the relationship of knowledge to respondentâs consumption of sports drinks were assessed.
Results: There was an 87% (160) response rate. 89.4% (143) claimed to drink sports drinks. 45.9% thought that sports drinks were aimed at everyone; approximately a third (50) viewed teenagers as the target group. Over 2/3rds recognised the brand logos, yet less than a 1/3rd could identify brand ambassadors.
About half were aware that dental erosion may result from consumption and approximately 2/3rds knew that they were linked to dental caries and energy provision. Despite this the majority claimed to drink them. As previously reported most of those drinking sports drinks did so because of the taste.
Conclusion: Whilst most of the respondents had some understanding of the detrimental effects on health the majority of them were drinking them regularly despite this knowledge. Work is therefore needed at a macro level, with soft drink manufacturers, to consider marketing and reformulation of products for adolescent consumers who appear to enjoy them

Profiling Phospholipids within Atlantic Salmon Salmo salar with Regards to a Novel Terrestrial Omega-3 Oil Source
The development and inclusion of novel oils derived from genetically modified (GM) oilseeds into aquafeeds, to supplement and supplant current terrestrial oilseeds, as well as fish oils, warrants a more thorough investigation into lipid biochemical alterations within finfish species, such as Atlantic salmon. Five tissues were examined across two harvesting timepoints to establish whether lipid isomeric alterations could be detected between a standard commercial diet versus a diet that incorporated the long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (LC-PUFA), EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid), and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid), derived from the GM oilseed Camelina sativa. Tissue-dependent trends were detected, indicating that certain organs, such as the brain, have a basal limit to LC-PUFA incorporation, though enrichment of these fatty acids is possible. Lipid acyl alterations, as well as putative stereospecific numbering (sn) isomer alterations, were also detected, providing evidence that GM oils may modify lipid structure, with lipids of interest providing a set of targeted markers by which lipid alterations can be monitored across various novel diets

Early and late results of surgery for Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome
Surgical treatment for accessory atrioventricular connections was performed in 60 patients with Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome between 1981 and 1986. The initial procedure successfully divided 69 of 73 pathways identified preoperatively, including 39 of 40 left free wall pathways, 23 of 24 posteroseptal pathways, six of seven right free wall pathways, and one of two anteroseptal pathways. Three additional pathways were identified for the first time during follow-up. The primary procedure was successful in curing 53 (88%) of the 60 patients and in dividing 69 (91%) of the total of 76 pathways. Subsequent procedures increased the overall clinical cure rate to 97%. The surgery was performed with low morbidity and no perioperative or late mortality. Patients were followed-up for a mean of 6.4 years (range four to nine years). No patient showed clinical or electrocardiographic evidence of recurrence of a pathway which had been divided surgically.
