    According to the customer card Charles Bretzman took some family portraits at the home of William M. Rockwood in 1929. William was married to Virginia and they had two sons, William M. and John A., and a daughter Josephine. This may be Virginia and Josephine standing in front of their home at 3641 Washington Boulevard in Indianapolis.     Benjamin Lieberman and Sayde Lehner were married on Christmas day in 1929. Sayde lived in Indianapolis at 1255 Union Street and worked as a policy writer at Gregory & Appel. Benjamin was from South Bend, Indiana and worked as a salesman at his parent's store. According to the Bretzman customer card she was the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Thomas B. Noble of Indianapolis. The Indianapolis City Directory identifies Dr. Noble as a surgeon and his office was located in the Claypool Building.     Mayor L. Ert Slack (1874-1952) was photographed by Charles Bretzman in 1929. The customer card lists his residence at 3902 Washington Boulevard and offices in Superior Court Room 3, in the Court House. The city directory also lists Mayor Slack as a lawyer with an office in the Chamber of Commerce Building. Census records for 1930 show Mayor Slack was 55 and his wife Mayme was 54. Because of political corruption, the previous mayor John Duvall resigned in 1927 and Slack was appointed mayor by the city council on November 8, 1927 to serve for the remainder of the term. Mayor Slack was a Democrat and held office as mayor until 1930. After leaving office he resumed his law practice.This image is a preservation copy made from an unstable original nitrate negative.     Miss Mary Joyce was photographed with her maid of honor in this home portrait during her wedding in 1929. The customer card listed her at 3220 Fall Creek Boulevard in Indianapolis. The city directory shows her father and mother, Leon and Estelle Mae Joyce at that address and Mary was a student. Her father was a mason contractor. A year later in 1930 the census showed the newlyweds living at the same address with her parents and Gerald Martz was a bookkeeper for the Leon Joyce Company. The customer card listed the family at 2120 North Meridian Street in Indianapolis. Arthur was the secretary of the L. Strauss & Company Department Store. Cleo looks stunning wearing a cloche hat and a fur-trimmed coat. Her husband, Alva was listed in the city directory as a salesman at a securities company.
