Quantifying Quantum Correlations in Fermionic Systems using Witness Operators
We present a method to quantify quantum correlations in arbitrary systems of
indistinguishable fermions using witness operators. The method associates the
problem of finding the optimal entan- glement witness of a state with a class
of problems known as semidefinite programs (SDPs), which can be solved
efficiently with arbitrary accuracy. Based on these optimal witnesses, we
introduce a measure of quantum correlations which has an interpretation
analogous to the Generalized Robust- ness of entanglement. We also extend the
notion of quantum discord to the case of indistinguishable fermions, and
propose a geometric quantifier, which is compared to our entanglement measure.
Our numerical results show a remarkable equivalence between the proposed
Generalized Robustness and the Schliemann concurrence, which are equal for pure
states. For mixed states, the Schliemann con- currence presents itself as an
upper bound for the Generalized Robustness. The quantum discord is also found
to be an upper bound for the entanglement.Comment: 7 pages, 6 figures, Accepted for publication in Quantum Information

A two-step factorial design for optimization of protein extraction from industrial rapeseed meal after ethanol-assisted reduction of antinutrients
Rapeseed meal is a by-product of oil production with relatively high antinutrient content which limits its application in both feed and food industries. A two-step procedure, including two-level full factorial and central composite designs, was used to assess the influence of five factors namely pH (6 and 12), temperature (20 and 40 degrees C), NaCl concentration (0 and 7.5%), rapeseed meal concentration (2.5 and 5%), and extraction longevity (15 and 60 min) on protein extraction from industrial rapeseed meal subjected to ethanol-assisted reduction of antinutrients. Data demonstrated that pH and its interaction with NaCl influenced protein extractability the most. While still significant, individual effects of NaCl, extraction longevity, temperature and its interaction with pH had a less significant effect on protein yield. Overall. higher protein yields were obtained in response to combining high pH values with low NaCl concentrations, and high pH values with high temperatures. The highest protein yield (59.56 +/- 1.29%) was achieved after extraction of 5% ethanol-treated rapeseed meal at pH 12 with no NaCl addition, at 40 degrees C and extraction longevity of 60 min. A second-order polynomial model for protein yield prediction was generated. The adequacy of the model was verified by coefficient of determination and residual analyses. A high correlation between experimentally obtained and predicted protein yields (R-2 = 0.95) was established. Since extraction conditions are strong determinants of protein characteristics, the predictive model generated in the present work is useful for the selection of factor combinations, which allows for the achievement of optimal protein yield of a product with desired techno-functional properties.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
The fundamental parameters of the roAp star 10 Aql
Due to the strong magnetic field and related abnormal surface layers existing
in rapidly oscillating Ap stars, systematic errors are likely to be present
when determining their effective temperatures, which potentially compromises
asteroseismic studies of these pulsators. Using long-baseline interferometry,
our goal is to determine accurate angular diameters of a number of roAp targets
to provide a temperature calibration for these stars. We obtained
interferometric observations of 10 Aql with the visible spectrograph VEGA at
the CHARA array. We determined a limb-darkened angular diameter of
0.275+/-0.009 mas and deduced a linear radius of 2.32+/-0.09 R_sun. We
estimated the star's bolometric flux and used it, in combination with its
parallax and angular diameter, to determine the star's luminosity and effective
temperature. For two data sets of bolometric flux we derived an effective
temperature of 7800+/-170 K and a luminosity of 18+/-1 L_sun or of 8000+/-210 K
and 19+/-2 L_sun. We used these fundamental parameters together with the large
frequency separation to constrain the mass and the age of 10 Aql, using the
CESAM stellar evolution code. Assuming a solar chemical composition and
ignoring all kinds of diffusion and settling of elements, we obtained a mass of
1.92 M_sun and an age of 780 Gy or a mass of 1.95 M_sun and an age of 740 Gy,
depending on the considered bolometric flux. For the first time, we managed to
determine an accurate angular diameter for a star smaller than 0.3 mas and to
derive its fundamental parameters. In particular, by only combining our
interferometric data and the bolometric flux, we derived an effective
temperature that can be compared to those derived from atmosphere models. Such
fundamental parameters can help for testing the mechanism responsible for the
excitation of the oscillations observed in the magnetic pulsating stars
[Evaluation of the use prostaglandin in synchronization the estrus associated or not the hCG in goats]
