RIFLESSIONI CONCLUSIVE E QUALCHE UTILE PRECISAZIONE

Nell’articolo, partendo dalla differenza tra le grammatiche di impostazione tradizionale e le grammatiche a impianto moderno (le sole che generalmente si avvalgono di test linguistici per verificare i paradigmi teorici descritti) vengono ridiscussi tutti i criteri che sono stati utilizzati per discriminare la categoria delle congiunzioni da quella degli avverbi anaforici, allo scopo di evidenziarne l’utilità didattica. Siamo infatti convinti che il loro impiego, se ragionato e negli ordini di scuola opportuni,è uno strumento molto utile, come dimostra nella conclusione il caso della parola eppure, per riflettere meglio sui fenomeni linguistici, per metterli per così dire alla prova dei fatti, per creare in classe con gli studenti, insomma, un “laboratorio del fare” che avvicini lo studio della grammatica al metodo sperimentale. L’articolo, oltre a configurarsi come conclusione dell’intera monografia, dialoga quindi in modo particolare con l’articolo di Bellato, Sartori e con l’articolo di Maria G. Lo Duca.    Concluding reflections and some useful clarifications   In the article, starting from the difference between grammars with a traditional layout and grammars with a modern layout (the only ones that generally make use of linguistic tests to verify the theoretical paradigms described) all the criteria that have been used to discriminate the category of conjunctions from that of anaphoric adverbs are re-discussed, in order to highlight their didactic usefulness. We are in fact convinced that their use, if reasoned and in the appropriate school orders, is a very useful tool, as the case of the word nevertheless demonstrates in the conclusion, to better reflect on linguistic phenomena, to put them to the test so to speak, to create in the classroom with the students, in short, a “laboratory of doing”, which brings the study of grammar closer to the experimental method. The article, as well as acting as a conclusion to the entire monograph, therefore dialogues in a particular way with Bellato, Sartori and Maria G. Lo Duca’s article. &nbsp

IL CONCETTO DI VALENZA IN ITALIA: VAILATI PRECURSORE DI TESNIÈRE

Vailati è stato uno degli studiosi più eminenti del primo Novecento. Figura eclettica, ha spaziato in diversi campi del sapere, dalla matematica alla filosofia, alla linguistica. In uno dei suo ultimi articoli, analizzando il linguaggio in generale e quello dell’algebra in particolare, che ritiene dotato di un lessico e di una sintassi paragonabili al lessico e alla sintassi del linguaggio verbale, approfondisce in modo originale i concetti di transitivà e di relazione, e arriva ad abbozzare per il linguaggio verbale un modello che in seguito avrà grande fortuna e che prenderà il nome, dopo la pubblicazione dell’opera del linguista francese Lucien Tesnière, di modello valenziale. Oggi questo modello è alla base delle più recenti analisi linguistiche, perciò ritornare al pensiero di Vailati, a colui cioè che per primo lo ha delineato, già nella sua versione più ampia, considerando dotati di valenza non solo i verbi ma anche i nomi e gli aggettivi, è sembrato di rilevante importanza, specialmente perché l’informazione è poco conosciuta. Riprendere le sue idee, spesso profonde e sottili, è inoltre importante per capire quanto alto sia stato agli inizi del Novecento il livello raggiunto dal pensiero italiano, in grado di dialogare con il pensiero europeo e extraeuropeo e di concepire contributi nuovi e di valore.   The concept of valence in Italy: Vailati precursor of Tesnière Vailati was one of the most eminent scholars of the early twentieth century. An eclectic figure, he spanned different fields of knowledge, from mathematics to philosophy and linguistics. In one of his last articles, he analyzed language in general and algebraic language in particular, which he considered as having a lexicon and syntax comparable to the lexicon and syntax of verbal language. In this paper he deepened the concepts of transitivity and relationship in an original way and sketched a model for verbal language that would later have great success and become known, after the publication of the work of the French linguist Lucien Tesnière, as the “Valential model”. Today this model is the basis of the most recent linguistic analyses, so it is important to go back to Vailati’s thought and outlines - where he considered not only verbs but also nouns and adjectives – especially because this information is not very well known. Summing up his often deep and subtle ideas is also important in understanding the height of Italian thought at the beginning of the twentieth century, able to dialogue with the European and extra-European thought and conceive of new and valuable contributions

TRA COLOMBO E PRANDI. UNA RASSEGNA RAGIONATA DELLE ALTRE GRAMMATICHE DI RIFERIMENTO

Per capire quanto sia stato innovativo l’articolo di Colombo Coordinazione e coesione testuale del 1984, incentrato sulla differenza tra congiunzioni e avverbi anaforici e di conseguenza sulla differenza tra coordinazione e giustapposizione, in rapporto a quanto preesisteva sul tema in Italia e all’estero, e alla descrizione delle grammatiche che saranno pubblicate successivamente, l’articolo passa in rassegna le più importanti grammatiche di riferimento moderne dell’italiano, a partire da quelle pubblicate nel 1988, anno che segna un “nuovo inizio” nella storia della grammaticografia italiana. Il punto di arrivo della proposta di Colombo, a cui rinviano tutti gli articoli inclusi nel presente volume, è rappresentato dalla teoria del linguista Michele Prandi, secondo il quale anche la distinzione tra coordinazione e giustapposizione, oltre che quella tra congiunzioni e avverbi anaforici, è netta e rigorosa. Lo scopo dell’articolo, dunque, non si esaurisce nella pura rassegna, ma affronta in modo ragionato le varie descrizioni grammaticali nel tentativo di ricostruire, sulla differenza in questione, il quadro delineato dalle più importanti grammatiche scientifiche moderne.   Between Colombo and Prandi. An annotated review of other reference grammars   In order to understand how innovative was Colombo’s 1984 article Coordinazione e coesione testuale (Coordination and Textual Cohesion) focusing on the difference between conjunctions and anaphoric adverbs and consequently on the difference between coordination and juxtaposition, in relation to what existed on the subject in Italy and abroad, and to the description of the grammars that would be published subsequently, the article reviews the most important modern reference Italian grammars, starting with those published in 1988, a year that marks a “new beginning” in the history of Italian grammar. The point of arrival of Colombo’s proposal, to which all the articles included in this volume refer, is represented by the theory of linguist Michele Prandi, according to whom the distinction between coordination and juxtaposition, as well as that between conjunctions and anaphoric adverbs, is clear and rigorous. The purpose of this article, therefore, does not consist in a pure review, but in dealing in a reasoned manner with the various grammatical descriptions in an attempt to reconstruct the framework outlined by the main modern scientific grammars on the difference in question

CRITERI SINTATTICI NELLA CLASSIFICAZIONE DELLE PARTI DEL DISCORSO. ALCUNI QUESITI INVALSI SU PAROLE NON PROTOTIPICHE O POLIFUNZIONALI

L’articolo analizza i criteri di classificazione delle parti del discorso, in riferimento a parole non prototipiche (per esempio derivate) e a parole polifunzionali (che cioè possono avere più di una funzione sintattica); mostra quindi l’insufficienza delle definizioni presenti in molti manuali scolastici, le quali non offrono criteri certi. La parte iniziale, più teorica, evidenzia l’importanza dei criteri sintattici legati alla struttura compositiva della frase. Su questi presupposti teorici vengono poi analizzati quesiti proposti dall’Invalsi (Istituto nazionale per la valutazione del sistema educativo di istruzione e formazione) ai diversi livelli scolastici, che hanno alla base proprio parole non prototipiche o parole polifunzionali. Syntactic criteria for the classification of parts of speech. Some test items (Invalsi) with regards to non-prototypical and multifunctional wordsThis article analyzes classification criteria in order to identify parts of speech. Definitions given in many school textbooks are insufficient, because they do not offer clear criteria. The article discusses this problem with reference to non-prototypical words (e.g. derived words) and multifunctional words (which belong to more than one part of speech). It first introduces the importance of syntactic criteria linked to sentence structure. It then analyses some items selected from Invalsi (Istituto nazionale per la valutazione del sistema di istruzione), where non-prototypical and multifunctional words are tested

FRASE O TESTO? CONGIUNZIONI E AVVERBI ANAFORICI NELLE GRAMMATICHE SCOLASTICHE

L’articolo, partendo da una considerazione sulla difficoltà che hanno gli studenti, dalla scuola all’università, a comprendere i fenomeni della coordinazione e della giustapposizione e a usare i connettivi testuali nei loro scritti, e basandosi sulle riflessioni teoriche di Colombo e Prandi, prende in esame una serie di grammatiche scolastiche edite in particolare negli ultimi dieci anni (2011-2021) per verificare che cosa degli approfondimenti scientifici sul tema sia penetrato nella manualistica scolastica. Si analizzano quindi 21 grammatiche della scuola secondaria di primo e secondo grado, costatando come la maggior parte di esse abbia conservato una prospettiva tradizionale con definizioni incomplete o errate, senza distinguere tra coordinazione e giustapposizione e quindi tra frase e testo. Gli esercizi chiedono principalmente di classificare ed etichettare le diverse forme di coordinazione, anche se – in particolare nelle poche grammatiche più innovative – compaiono anche esercizi più utili e funzionali poi allo sviluppo delle abilità di scrittura.   Between linguistics and didactics: coordination and juxtaposition in school grammar books   The article, starting from a consideration of the difficulty that students, from school to university, have in understanding the phenomena of coordination and juxtaposition and in using textual connectives in their writing, and based on the theoretical reflections of Colombo and Prandi, examines a series of school grammar books published in particular in the last ten years (2011-2021) to verify to what extent in-depth studies on the subject have penetrated into school textbooks. Therefore, 21 grammar books for secondary and high schools were analysed, noting how most of them have retained a traditional perspective with incomplete or incorrect definitions, without distinguishing between coordination and juxtaposition and thus between sentence and text. The exercises mainly ask to classify and label the different forms of co-ordination, although – particularly in the few more innovative grammars – more useful exercises also appear that are thenfunctional for the development of writing skills

Monitoring of a micro-smart grid: Power consumption data of some machineries of an agro-industrial test site

For the management of a (micro)-smart grid it is important to know the patters of the load profiles and of the generators. In this article the power consumption data obtained through a monitoring activity developed on a micro-smart grid in an agro-industrial test-site are presented. In particular, this reports the synthesis of the monitoring results of 5 loads (5 industrial machineries for crop micronization, corncob crashing and other similar processes). How these data were used within a monitoring and managing scheme of a micro-smart grid can be found in (E. Fabrizio, V. Branciforti, A. Costantino, M. Filippi, S. Barbero, G. Tecco, P. Mollo, A. Molino, 2017) [1]. The data can be useful for other researchers in order to create benchmarks of energy use input appropriate energy demand values in optimization tools for the industrial sector
