seguintes tratamentos: grupo I própolis, grupo II mel e grupo III solução fisiológica 0,9% (controle).
Use of propolis or honey in the treatment of clean wounds induced in rats
Abstract
Sixty female Wistar rats, initial weight from 200 to 250 g, were divided in three groups
of twenty animals each. A clean skin wound was produced at the left lateral thoracic region. The
wounds were treated with propolis (G1), honey (G2) and 0.9% saline solution (G3 control). Wounds
were measured and five rats were euthanatized at 3, 7, 14 and 21 days postoperative to perform the
histopathologic examination. There were no statistical differences among the effect of each treatment
and number of days after the treatment. The histological examination showed that honey and propolis
treatments induced better healing compared to saline solution due to the reduction of the inflammatory
response, but the reepitelization was faster using propolis
Ultrastructural aspects of experimental cryptosporidiosis in pigs Aspectos ultraestruturais da criptosporidiose experimental em suínos
The aim of this work was to determine ultrastructural changes on the intestinal mucosa and associated lymphoid tissues after an experimental infection with Cryptosporidium sp. Twelve piglets dosed orally with 1×10(6) oocysts were slaughtered on days 3, 6, 9 and 12 after inoculation. The ultrastructural lesions in the intestinal cells were irregular with thickened microvilli, cytoplasmic protrusions and vacuolation, swollen mitochondria, hypertrophic organelles and nuclei. The lymphocytes of the Peyer’s patches occasionally were mitotic with a larger number of lymphoblasts in the inoculated animals.<br>O presente estudo teve por objetivo investigar as alterações ultraestruturais da mucosa intestinal e do tecido linfóide associado na inoculação experimental de Cryptosporidium sp. Doze leitões foram inoculados experimentalmente por via oral com 1×10(6) oocistos e sacrificados 3, 6, 9 e 12 dias depois.
Tissue fragments from 17 non-aborted and 93 aborted fetuses were histologically studied. No histological lesions were observed in non-aborted fetuses, and 51.6% of the aborted fetuses presented histological lesions. The main lesions were: focal gliosis and mononuclear infiltrate in liver, CNS, lungs and muscular tissues
Alterações anátomo-histopatológicas em ratos submetidos à dieta com extrato de broto de samambaia (Pteridium aquilinum var. arachnoideum) de dois municípios do estado do Paraná Macroscopic and microscopic changes in rats fed on a bracken fern diet (Pteridium aquilinum var. arachnoideum) from different regions of Parana State, Brazil
The carcinogenicity of bracken fern harvest from two regions of Paraná State to induce hematury in rats was studied. In order to do that, 33 Wistar rats were divided in three groups. Groups I and II received an aqueous extract of bracken fern from Londrina-PR or Ibaiti-PR, respectively, in drinking water for 60 days. Group III, control group, received regular plain water with no bracken fern. After 15 months, euthanasia was performed in all animals and samples were collected for histology examination. Histologic analysis revealed that two animals of Group II had ileal adenocarcinoma and soft tissue fibroma of leg
