A Graphical Introduction to Special Relativity Based on a Modern Approach to Minkowski Diagrams
We present a graphical method that can be used to learn/teach Einstein’s special theory of relativity. The “Minkowski diagram”, developed in 1908 by Hermann Minkowski, has long been recognized as an effective graphical tool for introducing special relativity. In our study, we adapted and modernized this graphical method in a way that would help current college students progress from Galilean transformations (based on Newton\u27s Three Laws of Motion) to the kinematics of relativity and other key results. This study has revealed new ways to apply Minkowski diagrams to well known problems in relativity. Here, we will introduce our graphical technique and apply it to the resolution of the famous the twin paradox
A Multimode Fluorescent Microscope
We present a fluorescent microscope that is available in confocal and total internal reflection mode. The design of the microscope includes two convex lenses in the incident and output stage, which enables the confocal mode; a dichroic mirror, a neutral density filter and a 50/50 mirror that enables the additional spectrometer function. To make the design compact, we utilized cage components, as well as upside-down setup. Our goal in the near future is to use this microscope to observe quantum dot blinking phenomenon
Studies on the Property and Application of Starch Sugar Ester Dodecenylsuccinic
In this study, we have prepared starch and Brown algae sugar ester dodecenylsuccinic, and by using infrared rays, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), we studied the structures and properties of the starch and Brown algae sugar ester dodecenylsuccinic. In addition, we studied the possibility of using this modified starch and Brown algae as emulsifier that can be used in ice cream
