Réalités virtuelles et corporéité

L’article rend compte d’une enquête qualitative qui repose sur trois approches : une observation directe prolongée, des entretiens individuels et collectifs, des dessins. L’analyse met en évidence le rôle du corps (trop peu étudié) ainsi que les formes de socialisation autour des pratiques de l’écran. Il y a une motricité du corps liée à l’utilisation et à l’appropriation de la machine (en particulier avec le jeu vidéo). L’interprétation des signes, sous l’effet de la vision subjective du jeu, sollicite le corps et projette l’être dans l’écran de la machine. Les « réalités virtuelles » parviennent ainsi à mobiliser des actions vécues comme des expériences incarnées.‪This paper describes a qualitative study based on three methods: direct and prolonged observation, interviews of individuals and groups, and drawings. The analysis brings to light the little-studied role of the body and forms of socialization centered on the computer screen. The paper argues that there is a form of mobility of the body linked to the use and the appropriation of the computer, especially with video games. Under the influence of the subjective visualization of games, the interpretation of signs solicits the body and projects it onto the computer screen. Virtual realities are thus able to mobilize actions lived as incarnated experiences.

Altered expression of an ankyrin-repeat protein results in leaf abnormalities, necrotic lesions, and the elaboration of a systemic signal

Summary: The PR-like proteins, class I β-1,3-glucanase (GLU I) and chitinase (CHN I), are induced as part of a stereotypic response that can provide protection against viral, bacterial, and fungal pathogens. We have identified two Nicotiana plumbaginifolia ankyrin-repeat proteins, designated $$\underline{G}$$ lucanohydrolase $$\underline{B}$$ inding $$\underline{P}$$ roteins (GBP) 1 and 2, that bind GLU I and CHN I both in vitro and when expressed in yeast cells. Sense as well as antisense transformants of tobacco carrying the GBP1 gene elaborated graft-transmissible acropetally moving signals that induced the downward curling of young leaves. This phenotype was associated with reduced starch, sucrose, and fructose accumulation; the formation of necrotic lesions; and, the induction of markers for the hypersensitive response. GBP1/2 are members of a conserved $$\underline{P}$$ lant-specific $$\underline{Ank}$$ yrin- repeat (PANK) family that includes proteins implicated in carbohydrate allocation, reactive oxygen metabolism, hypersensitive cell death, rapid elicitor responses, virus pathogenesis, and auxin signaling. The similarity in phenotype of PANK transformants and transformants altered in carbohydrate metabolism leads us to propose that PANK family members are multifunctional proteins involved in linking plant defense responses and carbohydrate metabolis

Monitoring of the primary drying of a lyophilization process in vials

An innovative and modular system (LyoMonitor) for monitoring the primary drying of a lyophilization process in vials is illustrated: it integrates some commercial devices (pressure gauges, moisture sensor and mass spectrometer), an innovative balance and a manometric temperature measurement system based on an improved algorithm (DPE) to estimate sublimating interface temperature and position, product temperature profile, heat and mass transfer coefficients. A soft-sensor using a multipoint wireless thermometer can also estimate the previous parameters in a large number of vials. The performances of the previous devices for the determination of the end of the primary drying are compared. Glial Fibrillary Acidic Protein Autoimmunity: A French Cohort Study

Background and ObjectivesTo report the clinical, biological, and imaging features and clinical course of a French cohort of patients with glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) autoantibodies.MethodsWe retrospectively included all patients who tested positive for GFAP antibodies in the CSF by immunohistochemistry and confirmed by cell-based assay using cells expressing human GFAPα since 2017 from 2 French referral centers.ResultsWe identified 46 patients with GFAP antibodies. Median age at onset was 43 years, and 65% were men. Infectious prodromal symptoms were found in 82%. Other autoimmune diseases were found in 22% of patients, and coexisting neural autoantibodies in 11%. Tumors were present in 24%, and T-cell dysfunction in 23%. The most frequent presentation was subacute meningoencephalitis (85%), with cerebellar dysfunction in 57% of cases. Other clinical presentations included myelitis (30%) and visual (35%) and peripheral nervous system involvement (24%). MRI showed perivascular radial enhancement in 32%, periventricular T2 hyperintensity in 41%, brainstem involvement in 31%, leptomeningeal enhancement in 26%, and reversible splenial lesions in 4 cases. A total of 33 of 40 patients had a monophasic course, associated with a good outcome at last follow-up (Rankin Score ≤2: 89%), despite a severe clinical presentation. Adult and pediatric features are similar. Thirty-two patients were treated with immunotherapy. A total of 11/22 patients showed negative conversion of GFAP antibodies.DiscussionGFAP autoimmunity is mainly associated with acute/subacute meningoencephalomyelitis with prodromal symptoms, for which tumors and T-cell dysfunction are frequent triggers.
