Professional training between the Seventies and the Nineties. A story in constant evolution.
Training is no longer considered a mere prerequisite for the transition to adult life and employment but is seen as a tool for lifelong learning and acquiring specialist skills. The present research takes its cue from an idea of training dating back to the Seventies following various pedagogical changes. Accordingly, this paper takes a closer look at the extent to which this idea has evolved in relation to productivity thanks to mobility, exchange and collaboration. As a result of this evolution, lifelong learning too has changed so that dealing with pedagogy today means recreating a profound meaning for human beings within the framework of economic development by employing one’s own skills and knowledge to cope with the new socio-economic changes, in addition to managing one’s own future.
The Effectiveness of an APRN-led Pain Service on Patient Satisfaction Scores: A Retrospective Analysis
Abstract
This quality improvement (QI) project examined if the implementation of an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) led consult pain service, was able to improve patient satisfaction measured on the HCAHPS and Press Ganey pain satisfaction scores. A one-way ANOVA analysis was used to examine if mean outcome scores varied at a statistically significant level (p\u3c.05) by year (2018, 2019, 2020). Bonferroni Post Hoc tests reflecting How Often Staff Talk About Pain by year using the dependent variable Top Box Score, indicated that the mean score for year 2020 (M=74.10, SD=17.45) was significantly higher than year 2018 (M=63.22). The mean score for year 2019 (M=64.62, SD=22.80) did not differ significantly from the other two years. Bivariate analysis indicated that Press Ganey Scores reflecting Staff Talk About Pain Treatment did not vary significantly by year, F(2, 445) = .41, p=.66. Results from this QI project and the effectiveness of an APRN-led pain service on patient satisfaction scores are inconclusive, and further research is needed. Pain is complex, and a patient\u27s satisfaction with pain is never straightforward. The effectiveness of an APRN-led pain service on patient satisfaction remains under-researched and in need of more methodological evaluation. APRNs need to focus on multidimensional validated outcome measures, which can measure our effectiveness in the management of patients with pain.

The paper analyses efficiency and sustainability of the recent regional
organisation of the Advisory Centres for Consumer Protection in the Republic of Croatia
in the context of justification of elimination thereof done by the Ministry of Economy,
Entrepreneurship and Crafts. The paper includes a field research conducted among the
active associations for consumer protection in the Republic of Croatia. The aim is to
determine the capability of the past regional network of the consumer protection advisory
centres to meet the needs of the most significant economic segment – the population of
the Republic of Croatia, that is the consumers – natural persons, as the precondition for
equal market competition with business entities. The paper offers an analysis of financial
package of national, regional and local level of the system for consumer protection in the
Republic of Croatia. The results show the inadequate efficiency and unsustainability of
the recent system and offer alternative solutions in order to satisfy efficiently the needs of population of each Croatian region respectively and of the whole population of the
Republic of Croatia.U radu se problematizira učinkovitost i održivost donedavne regionalne
organizacije savjetovališta za zaštitu prava potrošača u Republici Hrvatskoj u kontekstu
opravdanosti njenoga ukidanja od strane Ministarstva gospodarstva, poduzetništva i
obrta.
subjektima. Analizira se financijska konstrukcija nacionalne, regionalne (područne) i
lokalne razine sustava zaštite prava potrošača u Republici Hrvatskoj. Rezultati
svake pojedine hrvatske regije, a time i cjelokupnog stanovništva Republike Hrvatske
POSSIBILITIES AND CONSTRAINTS OF REGION BRANDING IN TOURISM – THE CASE OF DALMATIA
This paper presents the authors\u27 original model for branding the region as an umbrella brand in tourism, in line with the Gad\u27s 4 dimension branding. Dalmatia, as the Croatia\u27s region featuring most of natural and cultural-historical tourism attractions, has served as the model for the development and marketing management of the tourism system, with the aim of branding the region. According to the authors\u27 model, the region is an "umbrella brand" consisting of different but mutually interrelated tourism clusters. Each of them develops their "point-of-parity" that makes them part of the region and which is characteristic for the region, as well as the "point-of-difference", i.e. their own recognisable image within the tourism region, in accordance with the principles of sustainable development in tourism. Furthermore, the paper presents a comparative analysis of the tourism turnover between Dalmatia and Istria, kindred and nearby Croatian tourism region. Although it is geographically much smaller and featuring less natural and cultural-historic attributes, Istria has so far achieved better results in tourism than Dalmatia, due to a better structured marketing and management model, compared with Dalmatia which is fragmented by administrative boundaries. Finally, the authors have made a critical analysis of constraints that impede the development of similar marketing and management models in the tourism industry of Croatia and, it is assumed, in other post-transition countries
Mediterranean Security: Italian, United States, NATO, and North African National Interests from a Geopolitical Perspective
This paper discusses important international issues related to the region of the Mediterranean Sea particularly focusing on Italy and North African security issues. Security and stability issues were researched. This region is interconnected through important geo-economic issues such as the gas pipelines that supply Italy with methane gas pass through the seabed of the Mediterranean Sea, connecting North Africa with Italy and the whole of Europe. In particular there are the gas pipelines that from Libya and Tunisia, across the Mediterranean Sea, arrive in Italy, supplying the entire nation with methane gas at a good price. Italy has promoted the Mattei Plan which consists of a series of economic agreements with many North African, Central African and Persian Gulf nations. The Mediterranean region also faces security threats from human, labor and drug trafficking and serious migration issues. In the capital of Sudan, refugees are transferred to subsequent traffickers, who happen to be Eritreans as well. The Nigerian mafia plays a significant role in facilitating the illegal transportation of individuals from Western Africa to Europe, along with engaging in the illicit drug trade and prostitution in Italy. Food security area also discussed. US and Italian NATO involvement in the region is analyzed as is EU frontex border policy
