Factorization and Sudakov Resummation in B -> gamma l nu
We apply Soft-Collinear Effective Theory to prove at leading power in
Lambda_QCD/m_b a factorization formula for the radiative leptonic decay B ->
gamma l nu. Large logarithms entering the hard-scattering kernel are
systematically resummed by a two-step perturbative matching procedure.Comment: 3 pages, 1 figure; contribution to proceedings of "International

Exclusive Radiative Decays of B Mesons
We present within the Standard Model the exclusive radiative decays B ->
K*/rho gamma and B_(s/d) -> gamma gamma in QCD factorization based on the
heavy-quark limit m_b >> Lambda_QCD. For the decays with a vector meson in the
final state we give results complete to next-to-leading order in QCD.Comment: 4 pages, contributed to QCD 02: High-Energy Physics International

Shape Function Effects in B -> X_c l \nu_l
Owing to the fact that m_c^2 ~ m_b \Lambda_QCD, the endpoint region of the
charged lepton energy spectrum in the inclusive decay B -> X_c l \nu_l is
affected by the Fermi motion of the initial-state b quark bound in the B meson.
This effect is described in QCD by shape functions. Including the mass of the
final-state quark, we find that a different set of operators as employed in
Ref. hep-ph/0205150 is needed for a consistent matching, when incorporating the
subleading contributions in B -> X_q l \nu_l for both q = u and q = c. In
addition, we modify the usual twist expansion in such a way that it yields a
description of the lepton energy spectrum which is not just valid in the
endpoint region, but over the entire phase space.Comment: 8 Pages, LaTeX, 2 figures; a few typos corrected and some

MANAGEMENT INNOVATION: A JOURNEY INTO THE CORE OF RESEARCH IN MANAGEMENT
As innovation is considered central to firms’ competitive advantage, innovation research has become a cornerstone of strategic management inquiry. However, the vast majority of research attention is dedicated to understanding how firms can stimulate technological innovation. An emerging (or rather resurrecting) research trend espouses the benefits of management innovation. Management innovation refers to the introduction of management practices, processes and structures that are intended to further organizational goals (Birkinshaw, Hamel and Mol, 2008). The emergent dialogue consists of conceptual work (e.g., Birkinshaw et al., 2008), historical outlines of various management innovations (e.g., Mol and Birkinshaw, 2007) and empirical studies (e.g., Damanpour, Walker and Avellaneda, 2009; Vaccaro, Jansen, Van Den Bosch, and Volberda, 2010)
Radiative penguin Bs decays at Belle
We report searches for the radiative penguin decays Bs to phi gamma and Bs to
gamma gamma based on a 23.6 fb-1 data sample collected with the Belle detector
at the KEKB e+e- energy-asymmetric collider operating at the Upsilon(5S)
resonance.Comment: On behalf of the Belle Collaboration. To appear in the proceedings of

The Expected Perimeter in Eden and Related Growth Processes
Following Richardson and using results of Kesten on First-passage
percolation, we obtain an upper bound on the expected perimeter in an Eden
Growth Process. Using results of the author from a problem in Statistical
Mechanics, we show that the average perimeter of the lattice animals resulting
from a very natural family of "growth histories" does not obey a similar bound.Comment: 11 page
Reducing Crop Nutrient Applications: The Yield Reserve Program
A proposed Yield Reserve Program designed to compensate farmers for any reduced yields resulting from reduced nitrogen (N) application rates below recommended rates is evaluated. Assuming that farmers currently follow extension recommendations for applying N, Yield Reserve Program participation reduces expected net revenue by 13/ha. The Yield Reserve Program reduces expected net revenue by 20/ha for farmers who apply N to maximize expected net revenue. Farmers costs of participation increase with lower probabilities of inadequate rainfall and higher corn prices and decline with higher N prices. The Yield Reserve Program can significantly reduce N applications to cropland, which may reduce N content of surface waters, but the costs to taxpayers and farmers will depend on how the program is implemented.compliance cost, nitrogen fertilizer, nonpoint source pollution, policy, yield response function, Crop Production/Industries,
