Phenomenological features of mortality and morbidity dynamics in Tomsk versus heliogeophysical activity

    Get PDF
The influence of heliogeophysical activity on the morbidity and mortality of the population in Tomsk is studied epidemiologically on the basis of regional data. The biological effectiveness of heliogeophysical factors selected on the basis of the Karhunen–Loeve method from epidemiological data on the morbidity and mortality in Tomsk in 1990–2008 is estimated. An analysis of the impact of variations in heliogeophysical activity on morbidity and mortality (according to the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health, ICD-10) showed the existence of common factors within different nosological classes that reliably correlate with the major components of variations in characteristic indices of heliogeophysical activity

Local inhomogeneity of the magnetic field as a possible factor of influence on the human

The results of expeditionary studies in August 2013 at the Chui region of the earthquake epicenter (2003), in the area, characterized by an abnormal performance of the spatial distribution of the geomagnetic field vector values are presented. The adaptive response of the human body by analyzing the variability of the cardiovascular system activity in a short stay in the area of natural character geomagnetic anomalies is investigated. It is shown that a person entering the zone with abnormal magnetic field gradient levels can disrupt adaptive human body reaction that is accompanied by an increased level of the cardiovascular system functioning after visiting zone and increasing the power spectral density of oscillations several RR intervals of heart rate in the range of 0,04 -0,15 Hz and 0,5-1 Hz while in a zone. Unified System for Processing Real and Simulated Data in the ATLAS Experiment

The physics goals of the next Large Hadron Collider run include high precision tests of the Standard Model and searches for new physics. These goals require detailed comparison of data with computational models simulating the expected data behavior. To highlight the role which modeling and simulation plays in future scientific discovery, we report on use cases and experience with a unified system built to process both real and simulated data of growing volume and variety.Comment: XVII International Conference Data Analytics and Management in Data Intensive Domains (DAMDID/RCDL), Obninsk, Russia, October 13 - 16, 201

Application of the Electrochemical Permeation Method for Hydrogen Diffusion Coefficient Determination in Pipeline Steel 10G2

In this article, we conduct research on the effect of corrosion tests on the hydrogen diffusion process in gas steel in electrochemical permeability tests. This tests show that a long corrosion test time reduces the hydrogen diffusion coefficient by an order of magnitude, indicating the formation of aging defects in the steel. During operation, the diffusion coefficient decreases by two orders of magnitude, which also indicates the formation of a large number of defects in the steel. Consequently, based on the change in the diffusion coefficient in the material, it is possible to assess the degree of material failure

Subcritical multiplicative chaos for regularized counting statistics from random matrix theory

For an NΓ—N random unitary matrix U_N, we consider the random field defined by counting the number of eigenvalues of U_N in a mesoscopic arc of the unit circle, regularized at an N-dependent scale Ɛ_N>0. We prove that the renormalized exponential of this field converges as N β†’ ∞ to a Gaussian multiplicative chaos measure in the whole subcritical phase. In addition, we show that the moments of the total mass converge to a Selberg-like integral and by taking a further limit as the size of the arc diverges, we establish part of the conjectures in [55]. By an analogous construction, we prove that the multiplicative chaos measure coming from the sine process has the same distribution, which strongly suggests that this limiting object should be universal. The proofs are based on the asymptotic analysis of certain Toeplitz or Fredholm determinants using the Borodin-Okounkov formula or a Riemann-Hilbert problem for integrable operators. Our approach to the LΒΉ-phase is based on a generalization of the construction in Berestycki [5] to random fields which are only asymptotically Gaussian. In particular, our method could have applications to other random fields coming from either random matrix theory or a different context

BioDATA - Biodiversity Data for Internationalisation in Higher Education

    Get PDF
BioDATA is an international project on developing skills in biodiversity data management and data publishing. Between 2018 and 2021, undergraduate and postgraduate students from Armenia, Belarus, Tajikistan, and Ukraine, have an opportunity to take part in the intensive courses to become certified professionals in biodiversity data management. They will gain practical skills and obtain appropriate knowledge on: international data standards (Darwin Core); data cleaning software, data publishing software such as the Integrated Publishing Toolkit (IPT), and preparation of data papers. Working with databases, creating datasets, managing data for statistical analyses and publishing research papers are essential for the everyday tasks of a modern biologist. At the same time, these skills are rarely taught in higher education. Most of the contemporary professionals in biodiversity have to gain these skills independently, through colleagues, or through supervision. In addition, all the participants familiarize themselves with one of the important international research data infrastructures such as the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF). The project is coordinated by the University of Oslo (Norway) and supported by the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF). The project is funded by the Norwegian Agency for International Cooperation and Quality Enhancement in Higher Education (DIKU)
