The factors affecting the dimensional accuracy of 3D scanning using a measuring arm with an integrated scanner and a custom open source 3D printer using FDM technology are researched in this paper, with the purpose of isolating and reducing the sources of errors affecting the results. A consumer 3D printer is analyzed in terms of achieving accurate physical dimensions, consistent shapes, and predictable surface coverage.

Bulgarian literature, which holds a noteworthy position among southern-slavic literatures, owes its blooming to its proximity to the imperial capital of Constantinople and the subsequent impact of the church and literary initiative of Cyril and Methodius. Its characteristics include the abundance of ecclesiastical and especially hagiographical texts and it can be decomposed in three distinct periods: to the beginning of the old-slavic hagiography from the end of the 9th all through the 10th c. related to Cyril and Methodius and their first disciples succeeds a second period marked by the flourishing of anachoretic hagiography corresponding to the existence of the second Bulgarian kingdom from the 11th to the 14th c. Finally, the golden age of Bulgarian hagiography is situated towards the end of the 14th c. at the time of patriarch Euthymius of Tarnovo

Health Professionals' Attitudes Toward Robotic Rehabilitation

    Get PDF
Nowadays, the topic of robotic rehabilitation as a method of treatment is very popular around the world but not so well known in Bulgaria. Innovations in the field of medicine and especially in rehabilitation give very good results in the process of recovering from various pathologies such as cranio-brain injuries, spinal injuries, and other postoperative interventions. The aim of this paper is to investigate the attitude of healthcare professionals towards robotic rehabilitation in Bulgaria. Although the majority of respondents are not very familiar with robotic rehabilitation, they would recommend this method of treatment to their patients and loved ones and are of the opinion that more professionals who can work with robots will be needed in the future

Modelling, analysis and comparison of heatsink designs with improved natural convection

    No full text
The paper presents FEM based study of various heatsink designs. The main aim of the study is to determine and evaluate solutions with improved heat dissipation by utilization of natural convection. Seventeen different cases both classical and proposed by the authors are studied, where each case is examined under three different heat source (in the case with the proposed study a transistor) powers. Results for temperature of the power source and velocity magnitudes in the studied volume are presented and comparted. Experimental verification of the modeling is presented for selected cases

Five-year follow-up of implants placed simultaneously with inferior alveolar nerve lateralisation or transposition

Introduction: The aim of this investigation was to evaluate the 5-year outcomes regarding presence of intraoperative and postoperative complications and the survival rate of implants placed simultaneously with lower alveolar nerve lateralization or transposition.Material and Methods: implants placement was performed on 34 patients with advanced atrophy of the posterior mandible simultaneously with lower alveolar nerve lateralization or transposition. Transposition was done only in two cases; in the rest of the cases lateralization of lower alveolar nerve was performed. Results: The survival rate at the end of the fifth year after implant placement was 100%. The mean height of residual bone at the region of implant placement was 2.76 mm. The mean marginal bone resorption for at the fifth year was 0.309 mm. In 20.6% of cases a positive BOP (bleeding on probing) was registered. 14.7% of the patients were free of symptoms of NSD (neuro-sensory dysfunction). In the rest of the patients the mean duration of NSD was 2.06 weeks. In 76.4% of patients the symptoms of NSD of nervus alveolaris inf. resolved after the second week. The maximum period of reported NSD was 6 weeks. No permanent NSD occured. Conclusion: Properly performed lateralization or transposition of the lower alveolar nerve is associated with minimal risk of permanent neuro-sensory dysfunction and providing an opportunity for placement of intraosseal implants in the posterior mandible with high survival rate

Up-To-Date View on the Clinical Manifestations and Complications of Chronic Pancreatitis

Chronic pancreatitis is an inflammatory disease that causes irreversible anatomical changes including infiltration of inflammatory cells, fibrosis and pancreatic calcification with destruction of the structure of the gland, leading to abdominal pain, endocrine and exocrine dysfunction. Pancreatic exocrine insufficiency (PEI) prevalence in chronic pancreatitis varies between 40 and 94%. PEI is diagnosed by direct and indirect tests. Nutritional status is assessed by anthropometric indicators; laboratory tests—hemoglobin, plasma proteins (albumin, prealbumin, retinol-binding protein, transferrin), fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, K; micronutrients. Pancreatic enzyme replacement therapy (PERT) is a fundamental part of PEI treatment. An optimal PERT could prevent serious PEI complications such as metabolic bone disease, adverse cardiovascular events, cachexia, poor quality of life and mortality. A periodic screening for PEI complications with a respect to their primary and secondary prophylaxis is mandatory. Diabetes mellitus secondary to pancreatic disease is defined as pancreatogenic diabetes or type 3c diabetes mellitus. Patients with chronic pancreatitis are at increased risk for pancreatic cancer influenced by smoking, alcohol abuse, chronic inflammation and pancreatic stellate cells over-proliferation. However, chronic pancreatitis could be further complicated with splenic vein thrombosis, pseudocysts, duodenal or biliary obstruction, pseudoaneurysm and pancreatic duct stones which might require endoscopic or surgical treatment
