Spatial variability in response of deltaic baldcypress forests to hydrology and climate

    Get PDF
Changing hydrology and climate have significantly altered ecologically significant cypress-tupelo forests in the deltaic plain of the Mississippi River. Though local responses of these swamps to hydrology are relatively well understood, broad-scale evaluation of ecological response differences of deltaic wetland forests has been limited by the lack of site-specific coupled hydrologic and ecological data. Baldcypress tree-rings from twenty-two sites were used to examine the responses of coastal swamp forests throughout the deltaic plain to environmental variables. The responses of these forests to environmental variables varied spatially; however, broad-scale measures of deltaic hydrology were more correlated with tree radial growth than were climatic variables. A strong relationship between coastal water levels and river stage suggests that river stage often controls coastal water levels near the coast, so that even sites not locally hydrologically connected to the river experience broad-scale effects of annual variability in Mississippi river stage. Thus, even though the river is leveed, river stage appears to have significant impacts on forest productivity through linkages with coastal water levels

The project aims to give customers of financial products access to critical insights. A dashboard will depict the insights. Some of the features will highlight the key parameters and alert the users. Customers will also be able to analyze the segment-wise split of their expenses. The final tool developed will simplify the complex financial statements for customers. This project aims to develop a financial management tool that provides customers of financial products with critical insights. The device will include a dashboard highlighting crucial parameters, alerts, and alarms to help users stay within their budget and avoid overspending. Additionally, it will offer a segment-wise analysis of expenses to provide a deeper understanding of spending patterns. Customers will have access to simplified financial insights, making it easier for them to track their costs and understand their spending. Setting limits and alerts on expenses will help users stay within their budget and manage their finances effectively. Moreover, the segment-wise analysis of costs will provide valuable insights for making informed financial decisions. Lastly, offering this innovative service to customers will help retain them and demonstrate the client's commitment to delivering solutions that meet their needs. The project will begin with understanding customer pain points and analyzing existing tools in the market. Based on this analysis, the device will be enhanced with additional features to provide a better version. The project will also involve designing the UI/UX for the website to ensure a user- friendly experience. The project’s final deliverables will be a comprehensive financial management tool with a dashboard, alarms and alerts system, segment-wise analysis features, and UI/UX design. The device will give customers critical insights, simplify financial statements, and help them manage their finances more efficiently and effectively. In conclusion, this project aims to develop a financial management tool that empowers customers with critical insights. The projected business benefits include simplified financial insights, better budget management, improved financial decision-making, and increased customer retention. The project will analyze tools, enhance enhancing features, and design UI/UX. The final deliverables will be a comprehensive financial management tool and UI/UX design, providing value to the client and helping customers make informed financial decisions.Professor Colin Slabach, NYU SP

Ablation Techniques for Mahaim Fiber Tachycardia

    Get PDF
Mahaim fiber exhibits atrio-ventricular node like properties and generally is localized at the lateral aspect of the tricuspid annulus. Of the varying methods for localization, ablation at the site of Mahaim potential is the most accepted and successful method. Radiofrequency ablation of Mahaim fiber has high success rates

Local Anaesthesia Suppressing Idiopathic Ventricular Tachycardia - A Cause of Non-inducible Arrhythmia During Electrophysiology Study

    Get PDF
AbstractA 13year old boy having idiopathic ventricular tachycardia had non-inducible tachycardia twice on electrophysiology (EP) study due to suppression of arrhythmia by local anaesthetic agent, lignocaine. This case report demonstrates a cause of non-inducibility or arrhythmia during EP study and effect of lignocaine in suppression of idiopathic ventricular tachycardia

Outcome of Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy in Horseshoe Kidneys

Introduction: The horseshoe kidney is extremely rare, the incidence being one in every 400 - 800 patients. In a recent review of more than 15000 radiographic imaging studies, the incidence was one in every 666 patients. The renal stone formation in horseshoe kidney is around 20-80%. Percutaneous nephrolithotomy is the most accepted modality of treatment . This study was carried out to find the outcome of percutaneous nephrolithotomy in horseshoe kidneys. Methods: Between May 2013 and November 2017, 11 adult patients(12 renal units) with stones in horseshoe kidneys underwent percutaneous nephrolithotomy in the department of urosurgery, Kathmandu Medical College and Teaching Hospital and were evaluated for the operating time, stone free rate , complications and hospital stay. Data analysis was done using Statistical Package for the Social sciences (SPSS) Version 20. Categorical data were analysed by using Fisher exact test. Results: The mean age of the patients was 30.9 years (SD = 10.3) and the mean stone burden was 385.83 mm2 (SD = 331.3). The overall stone free rate was 83.33%. The two patients with residual stones when counselled for Extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy, refused for it and decided to be on follow up. No auxiliary procedure was done. The complications noted were of Clavien-Dindo grade I and II. No pleural or bowel injury was seen. One patient needed blood transfusion. Conclusions: Percutaneous nephrolithotomy is safe and effective in the management of stones in horseshoe kidneys. It does not carry increased risk than reported in normal kidneys

Backup and Recovery Mechanisms of Cassandra Database: A Review

    Get PDF
Cassandra is a NoSQL database having a peer-to-peer, ring-type architecture. Cassandra offers fault-tolerance, data replication for higher availability as well as ensures no single point of failure. Given that Cassandra is a NoSQL database, it is evident that it lacks the amount of research that has gone into comparatively older and more widely and broadly used SQL databases. Cassandra’s growing popularity in recent times gives rise to the need of addressing any security-related or recovery-related concerns associated with its usage. This review paper discusses the existing deletion mechanism in Cassandra and presents some identified issues related to backup and recovery in the Cassandra database. Further, failure detection as well as handling of failures such as node failure or data center failure has been explored in the paper. In addition, several possible solutions to address backup and recovery including recovery in case of disasters have been reviewed
