The trouble of gender sin in post-Yugoslav film – in the name of the father
Post-Yugoslav film art is, similarly to Yugoslav cinema, exemplary of masculine cultural domination, approaching socio-national themes in a highly gendered mode and reflecting a return to patriarchy, more brutal than that during the existence of Yugoslavia. A new generation of cinéasts explores, with a backlash mixture of contempt and compassion, the themes of violence, displaying a new assault on female emancipation, which seemed to be in line with the socio-political context of rising nationalist movements that led to the bloody events of the Yugoslav war in 1991. The female character is re-located to a place traditionally assigned to women not as the subject of narrative or discourse, but as the object of love and/or hatred by a masculine subject. The films chosen to be analysed here are full-length auteur feature films – Virgina, Grbavica, Djeca, Bure baruta, with a specific focus on the work by Danis Tanović – are not representative of post-Yugoslav cinema, but as rare exceptions demonstrate that, contrary to the dominant post-Yugoslav public opinion, both the Yugoslav wars and post-war traumatic realities remain cinematically unexplored
The effects of meldonium on the renal acute ischemia/reperfusion injury in rats
Acute renal ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury is a clinical condition that is challenging to
treat. Meldonium is an anti-ischemic agent that shifts energy production from fatty acid oxidation
to less oxygen-consuming glycolysis. Thus, in this study we investigated the effects of a four-week
meldonium pre-treatment (300 mg/kg b.m./day) on acute renal I/R in male rats (Wistar strain). Our
results showed that meldonium decreased animal body mass gain, food and water intake, and
carnitine, glucose, and lactic acid kidney content. In kidneys of animals subjected to I/R, meldonium
increased phosphorylation of mitogen-activated protein kinase p38 and protein kinase B, and
increased the expression of nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 and haeme oxygenase 1,
causing manganese superoxide dismutase expression and activity to increase, as well as lipid
peroxidation, cooper-zinc superoxide dismutase, glutathione peroxidase, and glutathione reductase
activities to decrease. By decreasing the kidney Bax/Bcl2 expression ratio and kidney and serum
high mobility group box 1 protein content, meldonium reduced apoptotic and necrotic events in
I/R, as confirmed by kidney histology. Meldonium increased adrenal noradrenaline content and
serum, adrenal, hepatic, and renal ascorbic/dehydroascorbic acid ratio, which caused complex
changes in renal lipidomics. Taken together, our results have confirmed that meldonium pretreatment protects against I/R-induced oxidative stress and apoptosis/necrosis

The prioritization of open innovation determinants in banking
The research scope of the paper is prioritization of open innovation determinants in banking industry using an integrated application of qualitative and quantitative methods in the evaluation process. The research methods were implemented to compound the depth of experts' knowledge and experience on the one hand, and the precise mathematical reasoning, on the other, thus creating the objective and accurate basis for effective decision making. The overview of determinants of open innovations in banking industry has been obtained from the literature overview and the Delphi study conducted among 51 experts from banks in Serbia. Fifteen significant determinants within five dimensions were further evaluated through AHP decision-making method to prioritize them toward the development of the open innovation in banking. The research results show that effective application of open innovation in banking lies in formal reinforcement by management to integrate innovation into organizational policies and in designing dual structures that facilitate the initiation and implementation of an innovation, i.e. building an ambidextrous organization. The research findings and results introduced in this paper can be usefully applied and widely used by both academics and practitioners who are interested in applying the open innovation concept in banking industry
Carbon stable isotope composition of modern and archaeological Cornelian cherry fruit stones: a pilot study
The carbon stable isotope content of Cornelian cherry stones collected from wild tree stands in Serbia, SE Europe, was measured using elemental analyser-isotope ratio mass spectrometry, with the aim of recording natural carbon isotope composition of the fruit stones and its possible variation. The results show a significant variation in the carbon isotope values; we identified several environmental factors that, along with a number of other possible determinants, likely contributed to this variation. The obtained data are compared with the measurement of carbon isotope content of an archaeological specimen of Cornelian cherry stone discovered at the Neolithic site of Vina (ca. 5600-4500 BC) in Serbia. Notwithstanding the limitedness of the data and the complexity surrounding carbon fractionation and the isotopic variation, it is suggested that the differences/similarities in carbon isotope ratios between modern and archaeological Cornelian cherry stones, when measured for much larger assemblages, could potentially offer a glimpse into growing conditions of Cornelian cherry trees in the past
