Supporting knowledge elicitation for learning in virtual teams
The growing complexity and dynamics of professional work increasingly require teamwork. Continuous learning while working will be obligatory to meet the performance requirements of the workplace. In this context asynchronous collaboration becomes more common and poses new educational design questions. Many questions regarding these new ways of working and learning are yet to be resolved. One pivotal issue is how to effectively support eliciting and sharing available but not yet articulated knowledge residing in the minds of individual team members. Suggestions derived from literature about knowledge elicitation point in different directions. In order to investigate knowledge elicitation support for professionals in virtual teams, an electronic Delphi study was executed. The objective was to gain insights regarding knowledge elicitation from a group of 16 representative experts. The results reveal the importance of customising multiple aspects to the specific situation. Each context requires a mixture of team, knowledge awareness and task related prompts. Based upon generic know-how with respect to enabling virtual team dynamics and community formation, social and task related knowledge prompts should be dedicated to the constraints and dynamics of the organisational context
Automated operation of a home made torque magnetometer using LabVIEW
In order to simplify and optimize the operation of our home made torque
magnetometer we created a new software system. The architecture is based on
parallel, independently running instrument handlers communicating with a main
control program. All programs are designed as command driven state machines
which greatly simplifies their maintenance and expansion. Moreover, as the main
program may receive commands not only from the user interface, but also from
other parallel running programs, an easy way of automation is achieved. A
program working through a text file containing a sequence of commands and
sending them to the main program suffices to automatically have the system
conduct a complex set of measurements. In this paper we describe the system's

Observable Dirac-type singularities in Berry's phase and the monopole
The physical reality and observability of 2n\pi Berry phases, as opposed to
the usually considered modulo 2\pi topological phases is demonstrated with the
help of computer simulation of a model adiabatic evolution whose parameters are
varied along a closed loop in the parameter space. Using the analogy of Berry's
phase with the Dirac monopole, it is concluded that an interferometer loop
taken around a magnetic monopole of strength n/2 yields an observable 2n\pi
phase shift, where n is an integer. An experiment to observe the effect is

Electroconvulsive therapy in a Hungarian academic centre (1999-2010).
BACKGROUND: Since the 1930s, the Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy at Semmelweis University (DPPSU) in Budapest has played a leading role in convulsive therapy in Hungary. The aim of this study was to describe the pattern of ECT use at the DPPSU over an 11-year period. SUBJECTS AND METHODS: Analysis of the medical notes of all patients treated with ECT in this academic centre between 1999 and 2009. RESULTS: During the study period, 28,230 patients were admitted to the DPPSU, of whom 457 (1.6%) received ECT. More than 50% of patients receiving ECT were diagnosed with schizophrenia. The percentage of female patients receiving ECT significantly exceeded that of the male patients, above what was expected in view of the diagnostic mix. CONCLUSION: The data indicate that in the first decade of the 21(th) century, ECT use shows a declining tendency in this Hungarian academic centre. The mean number of treatment sessions was relatively low and nearly the same across diagnostic groups. ECT was mainly used as a last resort for treatment-resistant patients. Coherent Ro-vibrational Revivals in a Thermal Molecular Ensemble
We report an experimental and theoretical study of the evolution of
vibrational coherence in a thermal ensemble of nitrogen molecules. Rotational
dephasing and rephasing of the vibrational coherence is detected by coherent
anti-Stokes Raman scattering. The existence of ro-vibrational coupling and the
discrete energy spectrum of the rotational bath lead to a whole new class of
full and fractional ro-vibrational revivals. Following the rich ro-vibrational
dynamics on a nanosecond time scale with sub-picosecond time resolution enables
us to determine the second-order ro-vibrational constant and assess
new possibilities of controlling decoherence.Comment: submitted at Physical Review
