    Internal jugular vein thrombosis presenting as a painful neck mass due to a spontaneous dislocated subclavian port catheter as long-term complication: a case report

    Central venous access devices are extensively used for long-term chemotherapy and parenteral nutrition. However, there are some possible immediate, early, and late complications related to the implantation technique, care, and maintenance. We present the uncommon occurrence of a thrombosis of the internal jugular vein due to a spontaneous migration of a Port-A-Cath catheter into the ipsilateral internal jugular vein as a delayed complication of a central venous access catheter implanted for chemotherapy delivery. A review of the literature is given, and the factors responsible for this unusual complication will be discussed

    A civilian perspective on ballistic trauma and gunshot injuries

    <p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>Gun violence is on the rise in some European countries, however most of the literature on gunshot injuries pertains to military weaponry and is difficult to apply to civilians, due to dissimilarities in wound contamination and wounding potential of firearms and ammunition. Gunshot injuries in civilians have more focal injury patterns and should be considered distinct entities.</p> <p>Methods</p> <p>A search of the National Library of Medicine and the National Institutes of Health MEDLINE database was performed using PubMed.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>Craniocerebral gunshot injuries are often lethal, especially after suicide attempts. The treatment of non space consuming haematomas and the indications for invasive pressure measurement are controversial. Civilian gunshot injuries to the torso mostly intend to kill; however for those patients who do not die at the scene and are hemodynamically stable, insertion of a chest tube is usually the only required procedure for the majority of penetrating chest injuries. In penetrating abdominal injuries there is a trend towards non-operative care, provided that the patient is hemodynamically stable. Spinal gunshots can also often be treated without operation. Gunshot injuries of the extremities are rarely life-threatening but can be associated with severe morbidity.</p> <p>With the exception of craniocerebral, bowel, articular, or severe soft tissue injury, the use of antibiotics is controversial and may depend on the surgeon's preference.</p> <p>Conclusion</p> <p>The treatment strategy for patients with gunshot injuries to the torso mostly depends on the hemodynamic status of the patient. Whereas hemodynamically unstable patients require immediate operative measures like thoracotomy or laparotomy, hemodynamically stable patients might be treated with minor surgical procedures (e.g. chest tube) or even conservatively.</p

    The Snail genes as inducers of cell movement and survival: implications in development and cancer

One of their best-known functions is to induce epithelial to mesenchymal transitions (EMTs), which convert epithelial cells into migratory mesenchymal cells. In recent years, many orthologues of the Snail family have been identified throughout the animal kingdom, and their study is providing new clues about the EMT-dependent and -independent functions of Snail proteins. Here, we discuss these functions and how they influence cell behaviour during development and during diseases such as metastatic cancer. From these findings, we propose that Snail genes act primarily as survival factors and inducers of cell movement, rather than as inducers of EMT or cell fate.We are grateful to all members of M. A.     Представлены экспериментальные результаты исследований отечественной разработки аустенитной хромомарганцевой стали 10Х13Г12С2Н2Д2Б (Ди-59). На основе рентгенометрии показано, что осцилляции внутренних напряжений при циклическом изменении температуры, сопровождающиеся процессами релаксации при перемене знака, окажут существенное влияние на прочностные характеристики и послужат причиной термической усталости металла, а критерии релаксации напряжений и условия их протекания станут определяющими для работы металла при высоких температурах эксплуатации. Обоснованный выбор температуры эксплуатации, существенно повышающий релаксационную прочность зерен и межзеренных границ сплава, является основой продления ресурса работоспособности

    В гидрополитике России Иртыш, как трансграничная река, является предметом переговоров на разных уровнях по проблеме совместного использования водных ресурсов с Республикой Казахстан и Китаем. В результате ввода в строй Верхне-Иртышского каскада водохранилищ в равнинной части бассейна Иртыша прослеживается ухудшение экологического состояния, в частности пойменных земель, имеющих огромное значение в качестве источника кормовых ресурсов для сельскохозяйственного производства. Поэтому актуальным является анализ современного состояния и изменений различных характеристик гидрологического режима реки, в том числе минимального стока. Цель работы: выявление изменений водного режима и минимального стока воды р. Иртыш на равнинной части водосбора (в пределах Республики Казахстан). Методы исследования. В работе применялся географо-гидрологический метод анализа материалов наблюдений за стоком р. Иртыш в створе п. Семиярка, расположенном на реке непосредственно ниже по течению от каскада водохранилищ, за два временных интервала: в естественных (1935-1959 гг.) и в зарегулированных (1967-2010 гг.) условиях. Использовались методы математической статистики для проверки гидрологических рядов на однородность (критерии Фишера и Стьюдента) и случайность по параметрическим и непараметрическим критериям. Результаты. Показано, что регулирование стока воды Верхне-Иртышским каскадом водохранилищ привело к существенному уменьшению летнего минимального среднемесячного расхода (на 22 %), увеличению зимнего минимального расхода (на 78 %), перераспределению объемов стока р. Иртыш между летним (уменьшение на 38 %) и зимним (увеличение на 70 %) сезонами, и, как следствие, к ухудшению гидро-экологического состояния пойменных земель. В качестве базы сравнения использовались соответствующие характеристики стока в естественных условиях.In Russian hydropolitics, the Irtysh as the transboundary river is the subject of different level negotiations on the issue of shared use of water resources with the Republic of Kazakhstan and China. In the result of putting in operation of the Upper-Irtysh multireservoir cascade the deterioration of environmental condition, particularly, in a floodplain which has major significance as the source of feed supplies for agricultural production, is observed in the flat part of the Irtysh basin. Therefore, it is important to analyze current condition and changes of different characteristics of hydrological regime of the river, and specifically the minimum flow. The aim of the researchis to indicate the changes of water flow regime and minimum water flow rates in the Irtysh River in the flat part of its basin (in the Republic of Kazakhstan). Research methods. The authors have applies hydrological and geographical approach to analyze standard observational data on the Irtysh flow in the cross section at Semiyarka village - a water level gauge station located directly downstream the multireservoir cascade during two time periods: in natural (1935-1959) and regulated (1967-2010) conditions. Statistical methods were applied: testing homogeneity of the means and variances using the Student t-test and the Fisher F-test, and trend significance using parametric and non-parametric criteria. Results. It is shown that water flow regulation by the Upper-Irtysh multireservoir cascade resulted in significant decrease of minimum summer monthly river discharge (by 22 %), increase of minimum winter river discharge (by 78 %), redistribution of the Irtysh flow between summer (decrease by 38 %) and winter (increase by 70 %) seasons, and, as a consequence, in deterioration of hydrological and environmental condition of the floodplain. Corresponding flow characteristics under natural conditions were used as the base for comparison

    Подготовка проекта межевания осуществляется применительно к территории, расположенной в границах элемента планировочной структуры – нежилого квартала, ограниченного проспектом Кирова, улицами Киевская, Усова, Артёма. Границы квартала определены генеральным планом города Томска, а также правилами землепользования и застройки города Томска. Проект межевания квартала подготавливается на основе проекта планировки данной территории в целях установления границ земельных участков и содержит графическую и текстовую части. Основанием для подготовки проекта межевания является постановление администрации Города Томска от 27.03.2017 г. №275-з.The boundary-setting plan is developed to the Tomsk’s non-residental quarter. An element of planning structure has its borders submitted by Kirova avenue, Kievskaya, Usova and Artyoma streets. Borders of quarter are defined by the city master plan and rules of land use and building of the city of Tomsk. The boundary-setting plan of quarter is prepared on the basis of the draft area plan of this territory for the purpose of land parcels borders establishment. The project consists of a graphic part and the text explanation. The basis for preparation of the project is the resolution of city administration of Tomsk
