Course Fee Assessments: University of Tennessee, Knoxville

This article provides information on several student fees assessed in various departments at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville as of May 1998. In the Department of Music, the music fee, $60 for one half-hour lesson per week, per semester and$120 for one hour lesson per week, per semester is published in the undergraduate catalog. This amount is up from $45 and$90 in the 1994-95 catalog. This fee is collected as a part of registration to help defer the additional costs of one-on-one teaching. Some portion of the revenue from this fee is returned to the department for the maintenance of secured practice room facilities. The fees at the Department of Art range from $10 to$100, depending on the media involved. Currently in the Department of Theatre, there are no fees assessed for specific courses

Page 3 is a letter from Harold Logwood to Father Jonsen requesting the administration to issue Bill Russell an honorary degree from USF during the unveiling of the Bill Russell Room. Does participation in cardiac rehabilitation affect health outcomes and health care utilization and costs?

Exercise based cardiac rehabilitation (CR) programs have been shown to be efficacious in the reduction of recurrent cardiovascular events and increased physical and psychological function. However, in North America only about 10-40% of eligible CVD patients are referred to CR. One reason for poor CR referral may be a lack of information on the costs and health care utilization associated with CR. Thus, the purpose of this project was to explore differences in health care utilization and costs among patients who attended and did not attend cardiac rehabilitation

Towards Secure and Legal E-Tendering

Tendering processes are considered to be a suitable mechanism for governments to fairly assign contracts for construction projects and procurement. The demand for efficiencies to be created in the process has resulted in a significant number of governments implementing e-tendering systems. E-tendering systems generally involve the submission of tender offer documents to a secure system hosted by the government (principal). An electronic environment presents obvious opportunities for collusion between principal and certain tenderers, fraud by tenderers and a minefield of legal uncertainties for fuelling protracted disputes. Critical examination of the security and legal requirements for e-tendering systems does not appear in the current literature. This paper identifies key security and legal issues to be addressed in the design of e-tendering systems, which may be included in e-procurement software, and proposes a new e-tendering architecture, using distributed trusted third parties which may be suitable for secure large scale operations such as the construction industry

Enhancing pressure ulcer prevention using wound dressings: what are the modes of action?

Recent clinical research has generated interest in the use of sacral wound dressings as preventive devices for patients at risk of ulceration. This study was conducted to identify the modes of action through which dressings can add to pressure ulcer prevention, for example, shear and friction force redistribution and pressure distribution. Bench testing was performed using nine commercially available dressings. The use of dressings can reduce the amplitude of shear stress and friction reaching the skin of patients at risk. They can also effectively redirect these forces to wider areas which minimises the mechanical loads upon skeletal prominences. Dressings can redistribute pressure based upon their effective Poisson ratio and larger deflection areas, providing greater load redistribution.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
