High Efficiency Battery Charger for Photovoltaic Inverters

This paper analyzes a bidirectional, isolated boost topology that is used as the battery charger/discharger in a photovoltaic generator interface converter with built-in energy storage. The converter interfaces a 48V; 6kWh lead acid battery stack to a 400V dc bus, and is designed for a 1:5kW peak power. The steady-state circuit analysis is presented and a possible design procedure for the power stage is derived. Experimental results from a prototype of the converter are presented, showing a 96% peak efficiency at 1kW, in both charging and discharging operation modes

A core with corners: The first alumoxane containing an {Al<SUB>4</SUB>O<SUB>2</SUB>} core as well as a gallium congener with an {Al<SUB>2</SUB>Ga<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>2</SUB>} core are prepared by the reaction of an organoaluminum monohydroxide with MH3NMe3 (see formula; M=Al, Ga; Ar=2,6-iPr<SUB>2</SUB>C<SUB>6</SUB>H<SUB>3</SUB>). These compounds contain reactive hydride groups on the central M<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>2</SUB> rings and methyl groups on the terminal aluminum atoms
