Time-resolved Mueller matrix imaging polarimetry

We present a new method of time-resolved Mueller matrix imaging polarimetry for spatial and temporal characterization of the polarization effects in backscattering from turbid media. The technique allows measuring the time evolution of spatially varying polarization patterns of diffusely backscattered light with picosecond resolution. A series of time-resolved polarization patterns are obtained at various time delays, are analyzed in sequence, and used to separate the polarimetric contributions of different scattering paths. Specific features of the 2D Mueller matrix components corresponding to light backscattered from colloidal suspensions were determined and characterized. The temporally- and spatially-resolved measurements permit detailed analysis of the changes in the magnitude, sign, and the general symmetry properties of Mueller matrix components

ВПЛИВ КОМПЛЕКСНОГО ЛІКУВАННЯ З ВКЛЮЧЕННЯМ ПРЕПАРАТУ ОМЕГА-3 ПОЛІНЕНАСИЧЕНИХ ЖИРНИХ КИСЛОТ НА СТАН СУДИН ХВОРИХ НА ЮВЕНІЛЬНИЙ РЕВМАТОЇДНИЙ АРТРИТ.

According to the literature persistent endothelial dysfunction is present in patients with rheumatoid arthritis, leading to the early development of atherosclerosis and related diseases of the cardiovascular system. In the early stages of subclinical vascular lesions common carotid arteries and abdominal aorta intima-media complex thickening, increased stiffness index of common carotid arteries wall is evident by duplex sonography. The use of drug contains omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids for 1 month results in slowing the progression of common carotid artery and abdominal aorta intima-media complex thickening, slowing of increase in wall stiffness of the common carotid artery in patients with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis.По данным литературы у больных ревматоидным артритом имеет место персистирующая дисфункция эндотелия, что приводит к раннему развитию атеросклероза и связанных с ним заболеваний сердечно-сосудистой системы у этих пациентов. На субклинической стадии раннее поражение сосудов проявляется утолщением комплекса интима-медиа общих сонных артерий, брюшного отдела аорты, увеличением индекса жесткости стенки общих сонных артерий по данным дуплексной сонографии сосудов. Применение препарата омега-3 полиненасыщенных жирных кислот в течение 1 месяца приводит к замедлению прогрессирования утолщения комплекса интима-медиа общих сонных артерий и брюшного отдела аорты , замедление увеличения жесткости стенки общих сонных артерий у больных ювенильным ревматоидным артритом. За даними літератури у хворих на ревматоїдний артрит має місце персистуюча дисфункція ендотелію, що призводить до раннього розвитку атеросклерозу та пов'язаних із ним захворювань серцево-судинної системи у цих пацієнтів. На субклінічній стадії раннє ураження судин проявляється потовщенням комплексу інтима-медіа загальних сонних артерій, черевного відділу аорти, збільшенням індексу жорсткості стінки загальних сонних артерій заданими дуплексноїсонографіїсудин. Застосування препарату омега-3 поліненасичених жирних кислот протягом 1 місяця призводить до уповільнення прогресування потовщення комплексу інтима-медіа загальних сонних артерій та черевного відділу аорти, уповільнення збільшення жорсткості стінки загальних сонних артерій у хворих на ювенільний ревматоїдний артрит

Non-local energetics of random heterogeneous lattices

In this paper, we study the mechanics of statistically non-uniform two-phase elastic discrete structures. In particular, following the methodology proposed in (Luciano and Willis, Journal of the Mechanics and Physics of Solids 53, 1505-1522, 2005), energetic bounds and estimates of the Hashin-Shtrikman-Willis type are developed for discrete systems with a heterogeneity distribution quantified by second-order spatial statistics. As illustrated by three numerical case studies, the resulting expressions for the ensemble average of the potential energy are fully explicit, computationally feasible and free of adjustable parameters. Moreover, the comparison with reference Monte-Carlo simulations confirms a notable improvement in accuracy with respect to approaches based solely on the first-order statistics.Comment: 32 pages, 8 figure
