Cohomology of the Lie Superalgebra of Contact Vector Fields on and Deformations of the Superspace of Symbols
Following Feigin and Fuchs, we compute the first cohomology of the Lie
superalgebra of contact vector fields on the (1,1)-dimensional
real superspace with coefficients in the superspace of linear differential
operators acting on the superspaces of weighted densities. We also compute the
same, but -relative, cohomology. We explicitly give
1-cocycles spanning these cohomology. We classify generic formal
-trivial deformations of the -module
structure on the superspaces of symbols of differential operators. We prove
that any generic formal -trivial deformation of this
-module is equivalent to a polynomial one of degree .
This work is the simplest superization of a result by Bouarroudj [On
(2)-relative cohomology of the Lie algebra of vector fields and
differential operators, J. Nonlinear Math. Phys., no.1, (2007), 112--127].

Preliminary results of the project A.I.D.A. (Auto Immunity: Diagnosis Assisted by computer)
In this paper, are presented the preliminary results of the A.I.D.A. (Auto Immunity: Diagnosis
Assisted by computer) project which is developed in the frame of the cross-border cooperation Italy-Tunisia.
According to the main objectives of this project, a database of interpreted Indirect ImmunoFluorescence (IIF)
images on HEp 2 cells is being collected thanks to the contribution of Italian and Tunisian experts involved in
routine diagnosis of autoimmune diseases. Through exchanging images and double reporting; a Gold Standard
database, containing around 1000 double reported IIF images with different patterns including negative tests,
has been settled. This Gold Standard database has been used for optimization of a computing solution (CADComputer
Aided Detection) and for assessment of its added value in order to be used along with an
immunologist as a second reader in detection of auto antibodies for autoimmune disease diagnosis. From the
preliminary results obtained, the CAD appeared more powerful than junior immunologists used as second
readers and may significantly improve their efficacy
Outcomes and risk score for distal pancreatectomy with celiac axis resection (DP-CAR) : an international multicenter analysis
Background: Distal pancreatectomy with celiac axis resection (DP-CAR) is a treatment option for selected patients with pancreatic cancer involving the celiac axis. A recent multicenter European study reported a 90-day mortality rate of 16%, highlighting the importance of patient selection. The authors constructed a risk score to predict 90-day mortality and assessed oncologic outcomes.
Methods: This multicenter retrospective cohort study investigated patients undergoing DP-CAR at 20 European centers from 12 countries (model design 2000-2016) and three very-high-volume international centers in the United States and Japan (model validation 2004-2017). The area under receiver operator curve (AUC) and calibration plots were used for validation of the 90-day mortality risk model. Secondary outcomes included resection margin status, adjuvant therapy, and survival.
Results: For 191 DP-CAR patients, the 90-day mortality rate was 5.5% (95 confidence interval [CI], 2.2-11%) at 5 high-volume (1 DP-CAR/year) and 18% (95 CI, 9-30%) at 18 low-volume DP-CAR centers (P=0.015). A risk score with age, sex, body mass index (BMI), American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) score, multivisceral resection, open versus minimally invasive surgery, and low- versus high-volume center performed well in both the design and validation cohorts (AUC, 0.79 vs 0.74; P=0.642). For 174 patients with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma, the R0 resection rate was 60%, neoadjuvant and adjuvant therapies were applied for respectively 69% and 67% of the patients, and the median overall survival period was 19months (95 CI, 15-25months).
Conclusions: When performed for selected patients at high-volume centers, DP-CAR is associated with acceptable 90-day mortality and overall survival. The authors propose a 90-day mortality risk score to improve patient selection and outcomes, with DP-CAR volume as the dominant predictor
Computer-Assisted Classification Patterns in Autoimmune Diagnostics: The AIDA Project
Antinuclear antibodies (ANAs) are significant biomarkers in the diagnosis of autoimmune diseases in humans, done by mean of
Indirect ImmunoFluorescence (IIF)method, and performed by analyzing patterns and fluorescence intensity. This paper introduces
the AIDA Project (autoimmunity: diagnosis assisted by computer) developed in the framework of an Italy-Tunisia cross-border
cooperation and its preliminary results. A database of interpreted IIF images is being collected through the exchange of images
and double reporting and a Gold Standard database, containing around 1000 double reported images, has been settled. The Gold
Standard database is used for optimization of aCAD(Computer AidedDetection) solution and for the assessment of its added value,
in order to be applied along with an Immunologist as a second Reader in detection of autoantibodies. This CAD system is able to
identify on IIF images the fluorescence intensity and the fluorescence pattern. Preliminary results show that CAD, used as second
Reader, appeared to perform better than Junior Immunologists and hence may significantly improve their efficacy; compared with
two Junior Immunologists, the CAD system showed higher Intensity Accuracy (85,5% versus 66,0% and 66,0%), higher Patterns
Accuracy (79,3% versus 48,0% and 66,2%), and higher Mean Class Accuracy (79,4% versus 56,7% and 64.2%)
Polar extracts from (Tunisian) Acacia salicina Lindl. Study of the antimicrobial and antigenotoxic activities
<p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>Methanolic, aqueous and Total Oligomer Flavonoids (TOF)-enriched extracts obtained from the leaves of <it>Acacia salicina </it>'Lindl.' were investigated for antibacterial, antimutagenic and antioxidant activities.</p> <p>Methods</p> <p>The antimicrobial activity was tested on the Gram positive and Gram negative reference bacterial strains. The Mutagenic and antimutagenic activities against direct acting mutagens, methylmethane sulfonate (MMS) and 4-nitro-o-phenylenediamine (NOPD), and indirect acting mutagens, 2-aminoanthracene (2-AA) and benzo[a]pyrene (B(a)P) were performed with <it>S. typhimurium </it>TA102 and TA98 assay systems. In addition, the enzymatic and nonenzymatic methods were employed to evaluate the anti-oxidative effects of the tested extracts.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>A significant effect against the Gram positive and Gram negative reference bacterial strains was observed with all the extracts. The mutagenic and antimutagenic studies revealed that all the extracts decreased the mutagenicity induced by B(a)P (7.5 μg/plate), 2-AA (5 μg/plate), MMS (1.3 mg/plate) and NOPD (10 μg/plate). Likewise, all the extracts showed an important free radical scavenging activity towards the superoxide anion generated by the xanthine/xanthine oxidase assay system, as well as high Trolox Equivalent Antioxidant Capacity (TEAC), against the 2,2'-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) diammonium salt (ABTS)<sup>+</sup>• radical. TOF-enriched extract exhibited the highest protective effect against free radicals, direct acting-mutagen and metabolically activated S9-dependent mutagens.</p> <p>Conclusions</p> <p>The present study indicates that the extracts from <it>A. salicina </it>leaves are a significant source of compounds with the antimutagenic and antioxidant activities, and this may be useful for developing potential chemopreventive substances.</p

Improved control of Septoria tritici blotch in durum wheat using cultivar mixtures
Mixtures of cultivars with contrasting levels of disease resistance are capable of suppressing infectious diseases in wheat, as demonstrated in numerous field experiments. Most studies focused on airborne pathogens in bread wheat, while splash-dispersed pathogens have received less attention, and no studies have been conducted in durum wheat. We conducted a two-year field experiment in Tunisia, a major durum wheat producer in the Mediterranean region, to evaluate the performance of cultivar mixtures in controlling the polycyclic, splash-dispersed disease Septoria tritici blotch (STB) in durum wheat. To measure STB severity, we used a novel, high-throughput method based on digital analysis of images captured from 3074 infected leaves collected from 42 and 40 experimental plots on the first and the second year, respectively. This method allowed us to quantify pathogen reproduction on wheat leaves and to acquire a large dataset that exceeds previous studies with respect to accuracy and statistical power. Our analyses show that introducing only 25% of a disease-resistant cultivar into a pure stand of a susceptible cultivar provides a substantial reduction of almost 50% in disease severity. However, adding a second resistant cultivar to the mixture did not further improve disease control, contrary to predictions of epidemiological theory. Susceptible cultivars can be agronomically superior to resistant cultivars or be better accepted by growers for other reasons. Hence, if mixtures with only a moderate proportion of the resistant cultivar provide similar degree of disease control as resistant pure stands, as our analysis indicates, such mixtures are more likely to be accepted by growers
