Persistence of Tripartite Nonlocality for Non-inertial Observers
We consider the behaviour of bipartite and tripartite non-locality between
fermionic entangled states shared by observers, one of whom uniformly
accelerates. We find that while fermionic entanglement persists for arbitrarily
large acceleration, the Bell/CHSH inequalities cannot be violated for
sufficiently large but finite acceleration. However the Svetlichny inequality,
which is a measure of genuine tripartite non-locality, can be violated for any

Consistent histories, quantum truth functionals, and hidden variables
A central principle of consistent histories quantum theory, the requirement
that quantum descriptions be based upon a single framework (or family), is
employed to show that there is no conflict between consistent histories and a
no-hidden-variables theorem of Bell, and Kochen and Specker, contrary to a
recent claim by Bassi and Ghirardi. The argument makes use of ``truth
functionals'' defined on a Boolean algebra of classical or quantum properties.Comment: Latex 10 pages, no figure
Determination of energy barrier profiles for high-k dielectric materials utilizing bias-dependent internal photoemission
We utilize bias-dependent internal photoemission spectroscopy to determine the metal/dielectric/silicon energy barrier profiles for Au/HfO2/Si and Au/Al2O3/Si structures. The results indicate that the applied voltage plays a large role in determining the effective barrier height and we attribute much of the variation in this case to image potential barrier lowering in measurements of single layers. By measuring current at both positive and negative voltages, we are able to measure the band offsets from Si and also to determine the flatband voltage and the barrier asymmetry at 0 V. Our SiO2 calibration sample yielded a conduction band offset value of 3.03+/-0.1 eV. Measurements on HfO2 give a conduction band offset value of 2.7+/-0.2 eV (at 1.0 V) and Al2O3 gives an offset of 3.3+/-0.1 (at 1.0 V). We believe that interfacial SiO2 layers may dominate the electron transport from silicon for these films. The Au/HfO2 barrier height was found to be 3.6+/-0.1 eV while the Au/Al2O3 barrier is 3.5+/-0.1 eV
Primary production, chlorophyll, and zooplankton volumes in the tropical Eastern Pacific Ocean
ENGLISH: Between 1 October and 17 December 1955 investigations of the physical, chemical and biological oceanography of the Eastern Pacific Ocean in a region bounded approximately by 30° N. latitude, 9° S. latitude, 120° W. longitude and the mainland coast were conducted from the vessels Horizon and Spencer F. Baird of the Scripps Institution of Oceanography of the University of California. These were part of a cooperative operation, designated for convenience by the code name "Eastropic," in which a vessel of the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service worked, during this same period, further west and a vessel of the Peruvian Navy worked further south, offshore from Peru. A vessel of the California State Fisheries Laboratory also conducted certain sub-surface tuna fishing operations and other studies in the same general region as the Scripps vessels. In addition to carrying out a number of special studies related to particular oceanographic features, the Scripps vessels occupied a considerable number of hydrographic stations. The locations of these stations, at each of which were made net-hauls for zooplankton, are shown in Figure 4 and Tables 2 and 3. At some of the hydrographic stations, and in Some places between stations, there were made from the Spencer F. Baird measurements of chlorophyll "a" and of primary production (by the C14 technique), both in situ and in a shipboard incubator. The purpose of this paper is to report on the results of these biological observations.

Baird) de la Institución Scripps de Oceanografía de la Universidad de California, se hicieron investigaciones sobre la oceanografía física, química y biológica del Océano Pacífico Oriental, en una región limitada aproximadamente por los 30° N. de latitud, 9° S. de latitud, 120° O. de longitud y la costa continental. Estas investigaciones fueron parte de una operación que se realizó cooperativamente y a la que se convino darle el nombre codificado de "Eastropic". En ella, durante el mismo período, una embarcación del Servicio de Pesca y Vida Silvestre de los Estados Unidos (U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service) trabajó más hacia el oeste, y un barco de la armada peruana más hacia el sur, frente a la costa del Perú. También colaboró una nave del Laboratorio de Pesquerías del Estado de California (California State Fisheries Laboratory), realizando algunas operaciones de pesca de atún en aguas subsuperficiales, y otros estudios en la misma región general que recorrieron las embarcaciones de Scripps. Además de efectuar estudios especiales relacionados con las caracteristicas oceanográficas particulares de la región, las naves de Scripps establecieron un buen número de estaciones hidrográficas. La localización de estas estaciones se indica en la Figura 4 y en las Tablas 2 y 3; en cada una de ellas se hicieron rastreos con redes planctónicas para recoger muestras de zooplancton. En algunas de las estaciones hidrográficas, así como en algunos lugares entre estaciones, en el Spencer F. Baird se hicieron mediciones de la clorofila "a" y de la producción primaria (mediante la técnica del C14), tanto in situ como en una incubadora instalada a bordo. El propósito del presente trabajo es dar a conocer los resultados de estas observaciones biológicas.

A Pilot Study of Wichita Indian Archeology and Ethnohistory
In 1965 several anthropologists drew up plans for a one-year pilot study of the archeology and ethnohistory of the Wichita Indian tribes. After financial support had been generously provided by the National Science Foundation, the proposed research was carried out. This is a report on the results of that study.
The pilot study was designed to: a) obtain a body of field data from the components of the Spanish Fort sites, the largest and best=documented of the historic Wichita sites in the Red River area; b) make test excavations at several other sites in order that a problem=oriented program of future research can be accurately planned; c) attempt to locate, by field reconnaissance, sites that relate to the Wichita occupation of the southern plains on both the historic and prehistoric time levels; d) make a survey of available ethnohistorical data in order (1) to compile a bibliography of documentary materials relevant to Wichita ethnohistory, (2) to make a detailed study of documents that relate specifically to the excavations being carried out at Spanish Fort and at the sites being tested, (3) to seek information that might lead to the field locations of other Wichita sites, and (4) to appraise those sources best suited for more extended examination.
The co-investigators of the project were Tyler Bastian of the Museum of the Great Plains, Robert E. Bell of The University of Oklahoma, Edward B. Jelks of Southern Methodist University, and W.W. Newcomb of the Texas Memorial Museum at The University of Texas. Bastian supervised the archeological field work in Oklahoma under the direction of Bell. Jelks directed the archeological work in Texas. Newcomb directed the ethnohistorical research. Marvin E. Tong of the Museum of the Great Plains served the project as general coordinator.
The main part of the ethnohistorical study consisted of a thorough search of the archives at The University of Texas for documents relating to Wichita ethnohistory. The archeological work included extensive excavations at the Longest Site in Oklahoma and at the Upper Tucker and Coyote Sites in Texas. More limited excavations were carried out at the Glass and Gas Plant Sites in Texas. Several other archeological sites were visited but not excavated beyond a test pit or two: the Devils Canyon and Wilson Springs Sites in Oklahoma, and the Gilbert, Stone, Vinson, and Womack Sites in Texas. An effort was also made to locate several sites in Oklahoma and Texas which were reported in historical documents but which had not been located in the field.
After the library research and the archeological field work had been completed, a brief, general report could have been prepared to satisfy our contractual obligation to the National Science Foundation. It was felt, however, that the data which had been collected would be of interest to archeologists and ethnohistorians and, if possible, it should be made available to them in some detail without delay. Consequently, a series of descriptive papers was prepared instead of a summary report. Those papers are presented here

The influence of Crop Plants on Those Which Follow V
This is a study of the effect which crop plants have on the growth and yields of those crops which follow. The study began in 1907; this bulletin reports the results from 1930 to 1942. Millet, mangels and rutabagas generally seem to be harmful to crops which follow them. Carrots, mangels and millet were least favorable of all crops to mangels. Potatoes did poorest when following potatoes, rutabagas, or millet. Rutabagas yielded low following rutabagas, mangels and millet. Onions were unfavorably affect by preceding crops of mangels, cabbage, or rutabagas. There is no simple explanation for the effect of crops on those which follow. The relationships are complex and interdependent, and are associated with the physical, chemical and microbial conditions of the soil. Well fertilized crops in moderately to strongly acid soils apparently produce unfavorable conditions for a succeeding crop for one or more of the following reasons: 1. They deplete basic nutrients with a consequent increase in H-ion concentration, accompanied by possibly harmful concentrations of aluminum or other elements. 2. Unless organic matter is provided, an adequate quantity of water stable aggregates is not maintained so that the soil becomes compact and possesses a poor physical condition unsuitable for maximum crop growth. 3. After certain crops, conditions are more favorable for the growth of plant pathogens and the development of seedling root rot. 4. The chemical, physical and biological conditions of the soil are intimately related and interdependent so that an improvement in one may produce some improvement in the other

which makes it obvious why certain parameters take on particular values, and
why obtaining information in one basis gives rise to noise in the conjugate

Characterizing Entanglement Sources
We discuss how to characterize entanglement sources with finite sets of
measurements. The measurements do not have to be tomographically complete, and
may consist of POVMs rather than von Neumann measurements. Our method yields a
probability that the source generates an entangled state as well as estimates
of any desired calculable entanglement measures, including their error bars. We
apply two criteria, namely Akaike's information criterion and the Bayesian
information criterion, to compare and assess different models (with different
numbers of parameters) describing entanglement-generating devices. We discuss
differences between standard entanglement-verificaton methods and our present
