Intercultural aspects of concept "TOLERANCE" and facilities of creating tolerant academic environment

The article presents a theoretical and practical research on issues of modern terminology to show its ambivalence in general and the concept “tolerance” in particular from the intercultural linguistic paradigm point of view which is confirmed by the vivid fiction and publicistic examples; to offer the technology for integrating obtained results in creating tolerant academic environment. The analysis of the theoretical and legal bases on the issue has been done. There are numerous practical examples on ten cultures and four confessions. The technology of developing intercultural communicative tolerance in the academic environment is proposed. © 2017, Slovenska Vzdelavacia Obstaravacia. All rights reserved

Diagnostic algorithm for antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody-associated systemic vasculitis

Antineutrophil cytoplasm antibody (ANCA)-associated vasculitis (AAV) are rare autoimmune disorders and characterized by severe multiple organ lesions with a potential fatal outcome. AAV comprises granulomatosis with polyangiitis (GPA), microscopic polyangiitis (MPA) and eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis (EGPA). Early diagnosis and treatment can significantly improve the AAV prognosis, but there are can be difficult, largely due to the lack of criteria for the classification MPA, whose main difference is the absence of granulomatous inflammation. The presented paper deals with the results of the analysis of 251 patients with AAV (mean age 43.1 ± 15.9 years, men 40%, disease duration 3 (0,2-28,5) years, ANCA 100%), based on which the diagnostic algorithm was developed. The algorithm steps include classification criteria of EGPA as well as surrogate markers for granulomatous inflammation (SG) and vasculitis (SV). MPA confirmed by the absence of criteria for EGPA, the presence of SV and the absence of SG. Due to the algorithm usage, nosological affiliation of AAV was determined in 99% patients. Both GPA and MPA were the most common (53% and 37%), while EGPA was rare (9%). In MPA group the overall mortality was higher (18%) than GPA and EGPA (7-5%), p=0.003. In MPA with anti-proteinase 3 antibody the two-year survival rate was lower than those with anti-myeloperoxidase antibody (p=0.04), mainly because of the high risk for alveolar hemorrhage and rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis. Relapses occurred more frequently in EGPA (80%) and in GPA (64%) and less frequently in MPA (49%). The group differences confirm diagnostic value of the algorithm. In conclusion, the proposed algorithm will help to improve the diagnosis of AAV. It is important that crucial in the AAV diagnosis belongs focused and systematic clinical examination of patients

Introduction. Higher education involves a complex process for the development of cognitive, social, emotional and cultural characteristics of the individual of future specialists; including forming special behavior patterns that in the future will provide competitiveness and success of employment of the university graduates. Intercultural communicative tolerance is considered to be one of the individual's significant social and professional qualities which are in demand of the modern society. The importance of intercultural communicative tolerance formation is caused not only by the processes of globalization of professional mobility in the modern world, but also the need to create comfortable coexistence of students in the university multilingual educational environment, to reduce conflicts and to prevent the clash of cultures - bearers of various systems of values and standards. The aim of the research is to reveal the role of intercultural communicative tolerance in the formation of the individual as well as to present a specially designed technology as part of “Foreign Language” learning. The relevance of this research highlights the necessity to shift the emphasis in the foreign language learning process towards practical-oriented learning targeting the development of personal qualities. Methodology and research methods. Methodological framework of the publication is based on the key conceptions of communication-oriented learning. In the process of designing and application of the authors' technology, experimental methods and the method of comparative analysis were used. Results and scientific novelty. The authors' definition to intercultural communicative tolerance is given. The urgency of formation of values and semantic attitudes towards improvement of communicative skills and corresponding world outlook objectives among students is proved. The authors described own technology of development of intercultural communicative tolerance, which is conditioned by the internationalization processes in higher education. The features of applying the technology in the process of learning a foreign language at a university were also revealed. The approbation of new methodological tools showed significantly excessive level of interpersonal and intercultural communicative competence of students which has grown due to the technology applied. Practical significance of the research is confirmed by the positive results, proving the effectiveness of applying the development technology, as well as it identifies the need to introduce similar technologies in higher education. © 2018 Obrazovanie i Nauka. GRANULOMATOSIS WITH POLYANGIITIS, WHICH IS PATHOGENETICALLY ASSOCIATED WITH ANTINEUTROPHIL CYTOPLASMIC ANTIBODIES: CLINICAL FEATURES

    Get PDF
The author studied in detail the specific features of the clinical manifestations reflecting a granulomatous inflammatory response and necrotizing polyangiitis, by using her experience in following up 70 patients with granulomatosis and polyangiitis (Wegener's), and analyzed their early symptoms, premorbid background, and possible predictors. Granulomatous inflammation and its related clinical manifestations (primarily orbital pseudotumor and subfold granuloma of the larynx) was demonstrated to tend over time to occupy a dominant place in the clinical picture of the disease while the proportion of the symptoms apparently related to necrotizing vasculitis was generally decreased. Interpretation of mechanisms for the development of granulomatosis with polyangiitis (Wegener's) may be of value for the further elaboration of an optimal treatment strategy

Peeling of Epiretinal Membrane: Analysis of Prognostic Factors and Surgical Complications, Impacting Visual Outcome

    Get PDF
An epiretinal membrane (ERM) is the most common pathology of the vitreoretinal interface. First-line therapy for a symptomatic ERM is vitrectomy with ERM peeling. Clinical prognostic factors for postoperative visual acuity improvement include baseline visual acuity, age, duration of symptoms, and baseline pseudophakia. Postoperative optical coherence tomography (OCT) shows improvement in the integrity of the inner/outer segment junction and a reduction in the thickness of the ganglion cell complex and foveola. Retinal changes after ERM peel are also described using OCT angiography, fluorescein angiography, fundus autofluorescence, and multifocal retinography. Complications of ERM peeling include cataract formation, retinal breaks/detachments, ERM recurrence, and macular holes

The article deals with the selection of reducing agent and preliminary preparation of raw materials for melting rich titanium slag (RTS) from ilmenite concentrates of the Shokash deposit. In determining the electrical resistivity of ore-coal briquettes with different reducing agents the authors have found that the most specifically suitable reducing agents for melting (BTSS) are special coke and coal, as briquettes with them, have the maximum electrical resistivity in the range of temperatures of solid-phase reduction
