Thus, one can determine pore size by controlling humidity. Fluids with surface tension different from that of water can be used to detect pores

When does the New Testament Economy Begin?

Jesus, the Mediator of the New Covenant (Heb. 3:5, 6; 8:6-13; 12:24), set aside the Old Covenant by means of His work of redemption during the thirty-three years of His humiliation (Gal 4:4, 5). In this period He fulfilled the Moral Law by keeping it (Rom. 5:19; 10:4), and by His suffering He freed us from its curse (Gal. 3:13). In this time He also substituted the reality of His atonement for the shadow of the Ceremonial Law and thus made the observance of its ordinances unnecessary (Col. 2:16, 17)

A careful person insists on evidence. He is critical. He will be interested in the proofs for the existence of God and other apologetic evidence for the Christian faith. He is delighted to see that Christianity has met human needs better than any other religion (the pragmatic evidence) and finds such practical values a potent demonstration of its truth. But we do not reach our Savior along the lines of logic, of premises and inferences. We do not find God at the end of a philosophical search - He is standing on our doorstep. He simply appears in our midst and is accepted for reasons of the heart (Pascal) that cannot be tested

But a man is no statue. He, not God, does the believing. Like the sensory process of seeing or of hearing, believing is active as well as passive. It is not a pressed flower in a book, but a living plant which receives nourishment only to grow and produce fruit

Paul Writes to the Romans

Some Jews came to Rome in 161 B. C., when Judas Maccabaeus sent them as ambassadors in order to get Rome to help him fight for Jewish freedom against Antiochus of Syria. The Roman senate granted Judas a treaty of mutual defense and friendship. Other embassies sailed (like Paul two centuries later) over the Mediterranean to Rome. When they came home, they must have told their friends that Rome was a good place to live and to do business; for before a hundred years had passed, we find rich and influential Jews living in Rome. When Pompey captured Jerusalem in 63 B. C., he brought Jewish prisoners back to Rome to march in triumph through its streets. Many prisoners were publicly sold in the markets as slaves, and we may guess that wealthy Jews bought some of their chained fellow Jews. Other Jewish slaves, always stubbornly loyal to their traditions, were troublesome for their Roman masters, and most of them were soon free again
