    Identification of the income level needed for agricultural enterprises to achieve economic sustainability

    This study aims to identify the income level required for agricultural enterprises to achieve economic sustainability. The theory behind the equation used to calculate a sustainable income is explained. The ecological, technical, social and economic components of sustainability in agricultural enterprises have been identified and discussed and the importance of economic sustainability in terms of achieving total sustainability has been emphasised. Economic sustainability was divided into three components incorporating the income needed to meet the cost of living and to address depreciation and interest costs for the enterprise. Those enterprises that achieved this income level were determined to be economically sustainable. For this purpose, data was collected by using a face-to-face survey method with 181 agricultural enterprises operating in Konya and analysed in line with the purpose of the study. According to the results of our analysis, it was observed that more than 150 enterprises were not sustainable

    A great mimicker of Bone Secondaries: Brown Tumors, presenting with a Degenerative Lumber Disc like pain

    This report presents an adult patient suffering from sacroiliitis like low back pain, lumbosacral radiculopathy and elbow swelling. Multimodality imaging revealed multiple lytic bone lesions located in supra acetabular iliac bone, sacrum, and distal end of radius. Painful numerous lesions due to the extension to the articular surfaces are not expected for Brown tumors. Less than ten cases with multiple Brown tumor due to primary hyperparathyroidism has been reported. Although Brown tumors are mostly diagnosed incidentally, this case would awake the physicians about rheumatological symptoms in the presentation of Brown tumors. Since Brown tumors are non-touch bone lesions that are expected to regress after parathyroid adenoma removal, it is important to distinguish Brown tumors from the giant cell tumors

    Quantitative Assessment of Palatine Tonsils in Healthy Children and Adolescents With Shear-Wave Elastography

    The normal elasticity and velocity values for palatine tonsils (PTs) in healthy children and adolescents were defined using shear wave elastography, and the relationship with potential factors affecting these values was assessed. This prospective study included a total of 80 cases with ages ranging from 3 to 17 years. Sex, age, and body mass index (BMI) were recorded. Elasticity and velocity measurements of both PTs and the relationship with basic descriptive data were investigated. For statistical analyses, independent-samples t tests and Spearman rho (r) correlation coefficient were used. Quantitative variables are shown as the mean +/- SD, and categorical variables are shown as n (%). The mean age was 10.6 +/- 6.4 years, and the mean BMI was 17.40 +/- 4 kg/m(2). The mean elasticity and velocity values were 9.38 +/- 1.27 kPa and 1.76 +/- 0.11 m/s for the right PT and 9.57 +/- 1.43 kPa and 1.79 +/- 1.04 m/s for the left PT, respectively. The mean tonsil volume was 2.44 mL for the right PT and 2.36 mL for the left PT. There were no significant differences in elasticity, velocity, and volumes when comparing location, age, or sex groups. No significant correlations were observed between the elasticity and velocity values and BMI. In conclusion, this preliminary work can be used as a reference for the diagnosis of PT diseases. Future comprehensive studies are necessary to establish the role of elastography in the diagnosis of pathologic tissue differentiation confirmed by clinical, laboratory, or pathology analyses

    Delayed diagnosis of an intraorbital wooden foreign body

    A 35-year-old male patient was presented with pain on his right upper eyelid. A piece of wood injured his orbital and supraorbital regions while working at a furniture factory 10 days prior to our hospital admission. It was learned that the patient was discharged following the primary would closure procedure. Subsequent to the craniofacial computed tomography, primary wound closure was performed in the emergency room of previous hospital. In our clinic, a skin suturing on the nasal side of the right eyebrow was inspected and a foreign body (FB) was palpated on the superonasal contiguity of the patients' right globe. A hyperdense FB measuring 30x10x5mm in size with smooth margins on superonasal contour of the globe was detected. Superonasal orbitotomy was performed and the FB was completely removed. Finally, visual acuity was 20/20 and a mild residual ptosis was observed
