A new family of "ligated" anionic initiators for the "living" polymerization of (meth)acrylic esters

A new family of ligands (dual sigma - pi ligand), i.e. chelating lithium alkoxides, Li-O-(CH2-CH2O)nCH3, is shown to be very effective in promoting the living anionic Polymerization of methacrylic and acrylic esters, including a number of primary alkyl acrylates such as n-butyl acrylate and 2-ethylhexylacrylate

Automatic inspection of a residual resist layer by means of self-organizing map

International audiencePhotolithography allows large-scale fabrication of nanocomponents in the semiconductor industry. This technique consists of manufacturing a desired pattern on a photoresist film transferred onto the substrate during the etching process. Therefore, the mask quality is essential for reliable etching. For example, the presence of a residual layer of resist might be considered as a mask defect and can lead to the failure of the etching process. We propose the use of a Kohonen self-organizing map for automatic detection of a residual layer from an ellipsometric signature. The feasibility of the suggested inspection by the use of a classification technique is discussed and simulations are carried out on a 750-nm period grating

Le dernier chapitre délimite, dans les œuvres de Perec et Nicolas Bouvier, des lieux de discontinuité qui minent l imaginaire spatial."Depressions of Travel : Rewriting the Elsewhere, from Michaux to Chevillard" is a literary analysis of the fin des voyages (Lévi-Strauss, 1955), a phrase taken here to describe an impasse affecting travel writing. In the modern age, the genre has become increasingly aware of its incapacity to render the Elsewhere. Reading Freud and Sartre, Chapter I frames the problem in terms of a crisis of the narrative function. The second chapter declines the specular character of the exotic impasse, in writings by Sartre and Jean-Philippe Toussaint. Chapter III reflects on fictional world tours (Verne, Perec, Rolin) that expose the phantasms and paradoxes of a modern pensée du monde . Chapter IV rethinks translation as a constitutive and problematic modality of the travel genre, in novels by Toussaint and Vassilis Alexakis. Via Montaigne, Lévi-Strauss and Derrida, the following chapter describes the subversive function of the animal in travel narratives by Michaux and Éric Chevillard. The final chapter reflects, through works by Perec and Nicolas Bouvier, on sites of discontinuity that disrupt the spatial imaginary.ST DENIS-BU PARIS8 (930662101) / SudocSudocFranceF

Anionic polymerization of acrylic monomers. 21. Anionic sequential polymerization of 2-ethylhexyl acrylate and methyl methacrylate

A mixed complex of a polydentate lithium alkoxide, i.e., lithium 2-(2-methoxyethoxy) ethoxide (LiOEEM), and of a mono- or bisfunctional organolithium initiator, i.e., (diphenylmethyl)lithium (DPMLi) or lithium naphthalene/diphenylethylene, has been used to synthesize well-controlled AB (BA), ABA, and BAB block copolymers of methylmethacrylate (MMA) (A) and 2-ethylhexyl acrylate (2EtHA) (B), irrespective of the monomer addition order. Although the 2EtHA block copolymerization initiated with monofunctional living PMMA macroanions at -78 degrees C in a 75/25 toluene/THF mixture gives rise to a precisely-tailored PMMA-b-P2EtHA diblock polymer, the reverse sequence, i.e.,from P2EtHA anions to the MMA type monomer, always results in contamination by homo-P2EtHA. This has been interpreted in terms of the short shelf lifetime of P2EtHA anions present. Nevertheless, a pure P2EtHA-b-PMMA type diblock copolymer can be produced at -100 degrees C, while keeping other conditions unchanged. More importantly, a well-controlled PMMA-b-P2EtHA-b-PMMA triblock copolymer has been prepared through a three-stage process with a monofunctional initiator, actually providing a potential pathway toward the direct synthesis of a novel type of fully acrylic thermoplastic elastomer, instead of the more complicated hydrolysis/transalcoholysis process previously demonstrated by us
