Investigation was carried out at Horticulture Research and Extension Station, Arasikere, Karnataka, during kharif and summer seasons of 2012-14 to study the performance of different cropping sequences with vegetable crops and effect of integrated nutrient management practices on growth, and yield of vegetable crops under coconut (Cocos nucifera L.) based cropping system (CBCS). The experiment consisting of three cropping sequences of vegetable crops and four integrated nutrient management (INM) practices was carried out in FRBD with 5 replications. The study revealed that growth and yield of all the vegetable crops grown under coconut were significantly influenced by INM practices. Among the INM practices, pooled analysis of yield data indicated that, S3 treatment (5 tonnes FYM+ 50% NPK + 25% N by vermicompost + 25 % N by composted coir pith (CCP)+ IIHR micronutrient spray) recorded significantly higher yield in okra (9.85 tonnes/ha), baby corn (4.55 tonnes/ha), gherkin (74.87 tonnes/ha) and cucumber (6.51 tonnes/ha) when grown as intercrop in coconut plantation

Bladder Sparing Approaches for Muscle-Invasive Bladder Cancers.

OPINION STATEMENT: Organ preservation has been increasingly utilised in the management of muscle-invasive bladder cancer. Multiple bladder preservation options exist, although the approach of maximal TURBT performed along with chemoradiation is the most favoured. Phase III trials have shown superiority of chemoradiotherapy compared to radiotherapy alone. Concurrent chemoradiotherapy gives local control outcomes comparable to those of radical surgery, but seemingly more superior when considering quality of life. Bladder-preserving techniques represent an alternative for patients who are unfit for cystectomy or decline major surgical intervention; however, these patients will need lifelong rigorous surveillance. It is important to emphasise to the patients opting for organ preservation the need for lifelong bladder surveillance as risk of recurrence remains even years after radical chemoradiotherapy treatment. No randomised control trials have yet directly compared radical cystectomy with bladder-preserving chemoradiation, leaving the age-old question of superiority of one modality over another unanswered. Radical cystectomy and chemoradiation, however, must be seen as complimentary treatments rather than competing treatments. Meticulous patient selection is vital in treatment modality selection with the success of recent trials within the field of bladder preservation only being possible through this application of meticulous selection criteria compared to previous decades. A multidisciplinary approach with radiation oncologists, medical oncologists, and urologists is needed to closely monitor patients who undergo bladder preservation in order to optimise outcomes

Detection of curved text in video: Quad tree based method

In this paper, we address curved text detection in video through a new enhancement criterion and the use of quad tree. The proposed method makes use of the quad tree to simplify the task of handling the entire frame at each stage. The proposed method employs a novel criterion for grouping of pixels based on their R, G and B values to enhance text information. As generally, a text detection problem is a two class problem, we used k-means with k=2 to identify potential text candidate pixels. From these potential candidates, connected components are then extracted and subjected to further analysis, where symmetry property based on stroke width is used for further authentication of the text representatives. These authenticated text representatives are then exploited as seed points to restore the text information with reference to the Sobel edge frame of the original input frame. To preserve the spatial information of text pixels the concept of quad tree is applied. From these seed blocks, text lines are extracted by the use of a region growing approach driven completely based on Sobel edge map. The proposed method is tested on curved video data and Hua's horizontal video text data in terms of recall, precision, f-measure, misdetection rate and processing time. The results are compared and analyzed to show that the proposed method outperforms several existing methods in terms of accuracy and efficiency

The title compound (I), a chalcone analog, was synthesized and crystallized in space group P21/n with the following cell parameters: a = 14.515(2)Å, b = 7.870(1)Å, c = 15.521(2)Å, β = 111.523(3)°, Z = 4. The molecular backbone is essentially planar and intramoleculary stabilized by C-H…O…H-C hydrogen-bonds of the S (5) type, which is bifurcated at the keto oxygen of the central propanone group. The crystal structure is held together by intermolecular C-H…O hydrogen-bond and π…π stacking interactions
