When the fifth specialized school of geologists was created in Brazil, in the Rio de Janeiro City (1958), the Engineering Geology was one of the earliest matters included as an applied discipline of undergraduate geology curriculum. Some years late it became the main subject to begin the Departamento de Geologia UFRJ posgraduation course. Nowadays, celebrating its thirtieth anniversary, an historical review is made to settle its importance to students with geotcchnical interests, its succss on professional improvement and the whole of its scientific production.Resum

A nova lei seca: mudanças ocasionadas pela antiga e nova lei no código de trânsito brasileiro

A lei seca foi instituída com o objetivo de diminuir drasticamente a quantidade de acidentes de trânsito, ocorridos no Brasil, fazendo assim, alterações no código de trânsito brasileiro. Esta mudança acarretou resultados positivos, como a diminuição do número de motoristas que combinam a ingestão de bebidas alcoólicas com a direção de veículos automotores, causando assim, acidentes de trânsito. Além da utilização da lei seca, utilizam-se também métodos como, o registro do nível alcoólico, através do bafômetro ou exames de sangue, e também pelas chamadas blitz, que inibem esse tipo de ação. Os 40 Anos da CAGE - Campanha Nacional de Formação de Geólogos, Os Cursos de Geologia no Brasil, e, em Particular, no Rio de Janeiro

Celebrating the 40 years of CAGE-Campanha Nacional de Formação de Geólogos, a historical retrospective is presented since begining of Rio de Janeiro undergraduate course in geology. The achievements and its importance on technological and scientific brazilian earth sciences community are commented. Despite a vigorous past, there are difficulties at present, mainly as a result of staff decreasing. The foundation of College of Geology was already approved by Conselho Universitários and must be carried out in order to ransom the past.Em comemoração aos 40 anos de criação da CAGE-Campanha Nacional de Formação de Geólogos, faz-se uma retrospectiva histórica do início da formação de geólogos no Rio de Janeiro, conquistas, realizações, importância assumida no meio científico tecnológico brasileiro, no âmbito das ciências geológicas, e dificuladades atuais, representadas basicamente pelo esvaziamento no quadro de pessoal. Análise do potencial de uso urbano do Distrito de Inoã - Maricá e região oceânica de Niterói - RJ através de mapeamento geológico-geotécnico e técnicas de geoprocessamento

The Piratininga-Itaipu fluvial-lagoonal systems, in Niterói and the Vigário river sub-basin, in Maricá, presented, in the last few years, a disordered demographic expansion that did not respect the fragility of the physical environment, un cacteristic of the studied area, generated a series of considerable inadequations and impacts. Considering this area an touristic region, it will have an increase of building sites, which could lead to catastrophic environmental consequences, if this process of modifying the landscape does not follow an appropiate technical standard during its implantation.The aim of this work is to present a potencial use map, creating a technical scientific instrument, in order to influence the government to preserv area, still capable of preserving, and to reorganize areas, already occupied in an irregular and disordered manner.Pages: 1059-106
