    A vectorial form of the Schr\"odinger equation

    We rewrite the time dependent Schr\"odinger equation by using only three dimensional vector algebra and by avoiding to introduce any complex numbers. We show that this equation leads to the same conclusions than the "complex version" concerning the hydrogen atom and the harmonic oscillator. We show also that this equation can be written as a Maxwell-Amp\`ere equation.Comment: 8 page

    Is nature OO?

    What exists "out there"? What does "doing physics" mean? What are the axiomatic ideas for microphysics? What is a particle? What is an apparatus made of? We show that Quantum Mechanics textbooks cannot truly answer this kind of question whereas they should. By adopting a pure "hitological" point of view for microphysics, we introduce the Hit in Apparatuses Theory (HAT) and the Vacuum of Apparatuses (VA) that restore, through Object Orientation (OO), an intuitive ontology to deal with this kind of physics. Through a review of what it means to "observe" and what relativism means in Special and General Relativities (SR and GR), we address the problem of finding common maths for GR and QM. Finally, with our new HAT, we address the measurement problem in QM and propose two possible approaches.Comment: 26 page

    Extending Geant4 Parallelism with External Libraries (MPI, TBB) and Its Use on HPC Resources

    With Geant4 Version 10.0, released in December 2013, one of the most widely used Monte-Carlo codes has been ported to take full advantage of multi- and many-core CPUs thanks to the introduction of event-level parallelism via multithreading. In this paper we review recent developments to allow for a better integration of parallel Geant4 jobs with external libraries. We have chosen to develop examples using the popular Intel Threading Building Block (for short TBB) as an alternative parallelization approach to the native Geant4 POSIX. To simplify the scaling of a Geant4 application across nodes on a cluster we are improving the support of MPI in Geant4. In particular it is now possible to run an hybrid MPI/MT application that uses MPI to scale across nodes and MT to scale across cores. %The recent developments allow users to easily implement parallel application resources that scale on a very large number of nodes and cores typical of HPC resources.Comment: conferenc
