The role in ensuring peripheral blood flow as a function of balance for older women

    Get PDF
Age-related changes in the function of equilibrium are characterized by increasing of projected area of the center of pressure and the velocity of the transference of center of pressure. The changes in peripheral blood flow have the influence on the maintenance of equilibrium which affects mainly the frontal plane. Changes in the regulation of vascular tone in a part of the peripheral blood flow affect the performance of dynamic equilibrium and, as result, reduction of the integral index of balance function

To do this, in the course of phylogeny developed a very complex, but at the same time, an effective system of automatic fine regulation of body position - postural control system. At the present time there is a problem quite early start weakening postural balance. Diagnosis of the level of postural stability in older people will determine what is the cause of malfunction of the postural control system, and, consequently, increasing the risk of falls. Electron detachment from negative ions in bichromatic laser field

Negative ion detachment in two-colour laser field is considered within the recent modification of Keldysh model which makes it quantitatively reliable. The general approach is illustrated by calculation of angular differential detachment rates, partial rates for particular ATD (Above Threshold Detachment) channels and total detachment rates for Hβˆ’^- ion in bichromatic field with 1:2 frequency ratio. Both perturbative and strong field regimes are examined. Polar asymmetry and phase effects are quantitatively characterized with some new features revealed. Phase effects are found to result in a huge anisotropy factor ∼103\sim 10^3 in the electron angular distribution in the perturbative regime.Comment: 13 pages, 8 figures in separate files which are not incorporated in the latex file of the pape

Relevance of application of irradiated starter cultures to production of fermented milk products

    Get PDF
Nowadays yogurt, fermented milk products, enriched with biologically active substances, acquire increasingly important significance in people's diets. The traditional method for producing fermented milk products and yogurt is to ferment the milk using starter cultures. The purpose of this research was to figure out if it is possible to use suspensions of probiotic microbial cultures irradiated with ionizing radiation to produce yoghurt products. Liquid live suspensions of bifidobacteria and lactobacilli, as well as a mixture of bifidobacteria, lactobacilli, propionibacteria and lactic acid streptococci were taken as a research model. The goal was achieved by receiving the yoghurt products enriched with active secondary metabolites due to using the suspensions of lysed cells of different microorganisms. We studied physico-chemical and organoleptic properties of the received products after 1, 7 and 14 days of storage

Polarization-dependent transformation of a paraxial beam upon reflection and refraction: a real-space approach

We analyze the paraxial beam transformation upon reflection and refraction at a plane boundary. In contrast to the usual approach dealing with the beam angular spectrum, we apply the continuity conditions to explicit spatial representations of the electric and magnetic fields on both sides of the boundary. It is shown that the polarization-dependent distortions of the beam trajectory (in particular, the "longitudinal" Goos-H\"anchen shift and the "lateral" Imbert-Fedorov shift of the beam center of gravity) are directly connected to the incident beam longitudinal component and appear due to its transformation at the boundary.Comment: 10 pages, 1 figure. Balance and steadiness correction of the upright posture of patients having withstood an ischemic stroke with the help of stabilographic rehabilitation training equipment with biofeedback

The brain ischemic mortality rate in Russia occupies the third position. As a result, a recovery period after an ischemic stroke could undermine social and economic well-being of patients and their close relatives. One of the major consequences of a stroke includes the firm-motor defects. Their degree can be reduced with the help of rehabilitation measures intended to revive the motor function of paralyzed limbs and to train a patient to remain firm upright. A stabilographic rehabilitation training apparatus with biofeedback represents one of the variants of the posture training. This training in a playful way helps a patient to improve the balance and firmness indices of the upright position. This rehabilitation method improved considerably the patients’ clinical and stabilographic indices of the balance and firmness function in comparison with the patients whose programmes did not include this method. A patient could sense better that he/she was standing on the both lower limbs. The sensitivity in the lower limbs was intensifying or reviving. According to the additional stabilographic control tests, the total scatter of the pressure centre and the scatter in the sagittal plane, the rate of the pressure centre movement were decreasing; Romberg coefficient became normal

Pathology of the Gastrointestinal Tract in Patients with Primary Hyperparathyroidism

    Get PDF
Aim. To present data of Russian and foreign studies on the prevalence, pathogenesis and clinical picture of gastrointestinal tract (GIT) pathology in patients with primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT).Key point. At the beginning of the 20th century PHPT was considered a severe endocrine disease with specific bone and kidney complications, however in 1957 W.T. St Goar proposed a mnemonic triad to recognize this pathology as β€œdiseases of stones, bones and abdominal groans”. A high frequency of gastrointestinal complaints, peptic ulcer, pancreatitis, cholelithiasis in patients with PHPT has been reported. Hyperparathyroidism has been shown to cause smooth muscle atony with specific upper and lower GI symptoms such as nausea, heartburn and constipation. The prevalence of peptic ulcer in patients with PHPT, according to studies of the 50s–60s of the last century, ranged from 10 to 25 %. However, studies linking PHPT to peptic ulcer development were performed before the advent of protonΒ 1). On the other hand, the development of pancreatitis in PHPT is one of the most studied pathologies. In developing countries its frequency can reach 10–20 % due to the absence of routine screening for blood calcium. Some authors report the impact of elevated parathyroid hormone levels on the formation of gallbladder stones by inhibiting of gallbladder emptying, hepatic bile secretion and mobility of the sphincter Oddi, and changing of the bile composition. A number of studies have found an increased risk of developing malignant neoplasms of the intestine, especially the colon, in patients with PHPT.Conclusion. The digestive manifestations of parathyroid dysfunction in patients can often be overlooked, and serum calcium levels should be included in the routine examination in the presence of abdominal symptoms
