Water Quality Land Cover Change and Water Quality in Wetlands at the City of Gresham, Or
The City of Gresham, Oregon has implemented constructed wetlands around the area as an attempt to collect, filter, and purify water from different sources such as rain, agricultural waste, and domestic waste. We focused our research on three different facilities: Columbia Slough Water Quality Facility (CSWQF), Fairview Creek Water Quality Facility, and Brookside Water Quality Facility. For each of these, we conducted tests and looked at the concentration levels for nitrogen and phosphorus nutrients such as NH3-N (ammonium), NO3-N (nitrate), TKN (total Kjeldahl nitrogen), O-PO4 (phosphate), and Total P (total phosphorus), as well as heavy metals like Total Cu (total copper) and Total Zn (total zinc).
It was essential to consider different factors that could influence the water quality at these facilities, for example, low vegetation area, forested area, and developed area percentages, as well as antecedent rainfall for the 24, 48, 72, 96, and 120 hour periods. Rain was a huge factor because runoffs caused by rainy days carry a lot of debris and harmful nutrients and metals into streams, it is fundamental to understand the relation between rainfall and chemical concentrations in the wetlands because they tend to be higher at the beginning of rain periods because of the first-flush where there is buildup debris, sedimentation, nutrients, and metals. The constant flow of water dilutes concentration levels.
Wetlands become a habitat for different species, such as beavers. Beaver activity was another important factor when looking at the CSWQF, beaver dams in the Columbia Slough facility help to catch heavy metals from flowing into the streams. Beavers were found to improve the quality of water due to this, a Mann-Whitney U test was conducted to find the significance between beavers and concentration levels.
After gathering all of the necessary information and considering all these factors for each of the facilities, we conducted a Spearman\u27s Rank correlation analysis to learn what factors have a bigger impact on which concentrations. Some of our findings were that the 24-hour rainfall was significant for NO3-N concentration difference and forested area significant relation with O-PO4 concentration difference.
Wetlands are doing a great job at filtering water and their implementation should be wider around the state and even the country. As a community, it is also important to be mindful of the water waste we produce, the fertilizer use in our lands, and any other form of littering in urban areas

Effect of flocculation on lipid extraction from Chlorella vulgaris Utex 1803 using response surface methodology
Microalgae are an attractive source of metabolites, such as lipids, proteins, pigments and carbohydrates, of potential interest to the pharmaceutical, food and energy sectors. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of flocculation on lipid extraction from Chlorella Vulgaris. A 3 3 experimental design was performed with STATISTICA 7.0 software in order to determine the effects of flocculant (AlCl 3 ) addition, pH and time. The best strategy of pH adjustment-flocculant addition was evaluated, followed by lipid extraction under optimal conditions. pH adjustment after the addition of flocculant provided higher flocculation efficiencies (87.2-98.9%) compared to adjustments made before adding the flocculant (67.8-85.9%). Experiments performed according to the experimental design led to a flocculation efficiency of 99.7% when 100 mg/L of AlCl 3 , pH 7 and a cultivation time of 18.3 days were used. The percentage of a lipid extract from the flocculated biomass was 2.7% and the flocculant did not affect the production of fatty acid methyl esters

Universidad Libre-Facultad de Derecho-especialización Derecho comercialThis research addresses the issue of bankruptcy law from an economic perspective, based on its evolution within the internal legal system, from two moments; the first of these refers to the stage prior to the state of economic, social and ecological emergency decreed by the national government in 2020 as a result of Covid-19, and secondly, the period after the pandemic, specifying for this purpose in the Decrees that were issued on the matter and due to said calamity, with orientation to the determination that the same, given the practicality and significant evolution in this regard, require a permanent and not transitory adoption
PEARL: Personalizing Large Language Model Writing Assistants with Generation-Calibrated Retrievers
Powerful large language models have facilitated the development of writing
assistants that promise to significantly improve the quality and efficiency of
composition and communication. However, a barrier to effective assistance is
the lack of personalization in LLM outputs to the author's communication style
and specialized knowledge. In this paper, we address this challenge by
proposing PEARL, a retrieval-augmented LLM writing assistant personalized with
a generation-calibrated retriever. Our retriever is trained to select historic
user-authored documents for prompt augmentation, such that they are likely to
best personalize LLM generations for a user request. We propose two key
novelties for training our retriever: 1) A training data selection method that
identifies user requests likely to benefit from personalization and documents
that provide that benefit; and 2) A scale-calibrating KL-divergence objective
that ensures that our retriever closely tracks the benefit of a document for
personalized generation. We demonstrate the effectiveness of PEARL in
generating personalized workplace social media posts and Reddit comments.
Finally, we showcase the potential of a generation-calibrated retriever to
double as a performance predictor and further improve low-quality generations
via LLM chaining.Comment: Pre-print, work in progres
Lecturas del contexto urbano a través del graffiti
En la actualidad, la población adolescente se muestra

Pharmacological Opportunities for Prevention of Preeclampsia
Preeclampsia (PE) is a disorder that occurs during pregnancy, it has an estimated worldwide prevalence of 5–8%, being one of the leading causes of maternal and perinatal morbidity and mortality. Currently, different diagnostic criteria exist, however, due to its complexity; the clinical presentation that makes up this syndrome could make its presence unclear. The pathophysiology of PE has been recently postulated and divided into three processes: inadequate uterine remodeling, placental dysfunction and maternal endothelial dysfunction. Despite the advances in the treatment of PE, the outcome of the medical interventions has failed to decrease the morbidity and mortality of this disease. The main reason might be the multifactorial origin of pathogenic processes that lead to the development of PE. That is why treatment is focused on the prevention of PE in patients that might present the risk before developing it late in pregnancy. The knowledge of the pathophysiological factors that trigger the processes that culminate in the presentation of PE, is key for prevention of this disease. However, the origin of these processes is poorly understood. It may be attributed to the ethical considerations that come with the study of these population of patients compared with the study of non-pregnant women
