Low-lying S-wave and P-wave Dibaryons in a Nodal Structure Analysis
The dibaryon states as six-quark clusters of exotic QCD states are
investigated in this paper. With the inherent nodal surface structure analysis,
the wave functions of the six-quark clusters (in another word, the dibaryons)
are classified. The contribution of the hidden color channels are discussed.
The quantum numbers of the low-lying dibaryon states are obtained. The States

hidden color channel states with the same quantum numbers are proposed to be

In this paper we review some recent detections of wide binary brown dwarf
systems and discuss them in the context of the multiplicity properties of very

Three Dimensional Simulation of Jet Formation in Collapsing Condensates
We numerically study the behavior of collapsing and exploding condensates
using the parameters of the experiments by E.A. Donley et al. [Nature,
412, 295, (2001)]. Our studies are based on a full three-dimensional
numerical solution of the Gross-Pitaevskii equation (GPE) including three body
loss. We determine the three body loss rate from the number of remnant
condensate atoms and collapse times and obtain only one possible value which
fits with the experimental results. We then study the formation of jet atoms by
interrupting the collapse and find very good agreement with the experiment.
Furthermore we investigate the sensitivity of the jets to the initial
conditions. According to our analysis the dynamics of the burst atoms is not
described by the GPE with three body loss incorporated.Comment: 9 pages, 10 figure

City profile: Chongqing (1997–2017)
Chongqing has made remarkable progress in economic and social development since it was granted provincial city status in 1997. The city had become a leading economic centre for the upper part of the Yangtze River region and a focal point for an experiment in coordinated urban-rural development. How did the city accomplish such an impressive achievement in spite of the impact of the Global Financial Crisis from 2007 and the political turbulence of 2012? To answer this question, we summarise the economic and social developments in Chongqing over the last two decades and demonstrate how the Chongqing model helped the city to sustain fast economic development whilst achieving urban-rural integration. Given that Chongqing is set to be a critical hub in the ‘One Belt, One Road’ (OBOR) initiative, this article provides a comprehensive update on the 2001 version of the Chongqing city profile, which was published shortly after the city became the fourth municipality directly under the control of central government. In addition, we discuss the lessons that some Chinese cities can learn from the Chongqing model when dealing with housing affordability issues and the challenges and opportunities for Chongqing in the OBOR initiative.ESR
SMA observations of the proto brown dwarf candidate SSTB213 J041757
Context. The previously identified source SSTB213 J041757 is a proto brown
dwarf candidate in Taurus, which has two possible components A and B. It was
found that component B is probably a class 0/I proto brown dwarf associated
with an extended envelope.
Aims. Studying molecular outflows from young brown dwarfs provides important
insight into brown dwarf formation mechanisms, particularly brown dwarfs at the
earliest stages such as class 0, I. We therefore conducted a search for
molecular outflows from SSTB213 J041757.
Methods. We observed SSTB213 J041757 with the Submillimeter Array to search
for CO molecular outflow emission from the source.
Results. Our CO maps do not show any outflow emission from the proto brown
dwarf candidate.
Conclusions. The non-detection implies that the molecular outflows from the
source are weak; deeper observations are therefore needed to probe the outflows

Addressing student models of energy loss in quantum tunnelling
We report on a multi-year, multi-institution study to investigate student
reasoning about energy in the context of quantum tunnelling. We use ungraded
surveys, graded examination questions, individual clinical interviews, and
multiple-choice exams to build a picture of the types of responses that
students typically give. We find that two descriptions of tunnelling through a
square barrier are particularly common. Students often state that tunnelling
particles lose energy while tunnelling. When sketching wave functions, students
also show a shift in the axis of oscillation, as if the height of the axis of
oscillation indicated the energy of the particle. We find inconsistencies
between students' conceptual, mathematical, and graphical models of quantum
tunnelling. As part of a curriculum in quantum physics, we have developed
instructional materials to help students develop a more robust and less
inconsistent picture of tunnelling, and present data suggesting that we have

Understanding and Affecting Student Reasoning About Sound Waves
Student learning of sound waves can be helped through the creation of
group-learning classroom materials whose development and design rely on
explicit investigations into student understanding. We describe reasoning in
terms of sets of resources, i.e. grouped building blocks of thinking that are
commonly used in many different settings. Students in our university physics
classes often used sets of resources that were different from the ones we wish
them to use. By designing curriculum materials that ask students to think about
the physics from a different view, we bring about improvement in student
understanding of sound waves. Our curriculum modifications are specific to our
own classes, but our description of student learning is more generally useful
for teachers. We describe how students can use multiple sets of resources in
their thinking, and raise questions that should be considered by both

Off-Diagonal Long-Range Order: Meissner Effect and Flux Quantization
There has been a proof by Sewell that the hypothesis of off-diagonal
long-range order in the reduced density matrix implies the Meissner
effect. We present in this note an elementary and straightforward proof that
not only the Meissner effect but also the property of magnetic flux
quantization follows from the hypothesis. It is explicitly shown that the two

Dynamics of vortices in weakly interacting Bose-Einstein condensates
We study the dynamics of vortices in ideal and weakly interacting
Bose-Einstein condensates using a Ritz minimization method to solve the
two-dimensional Gross-Pitaevskii equation. For different initial vortex
configurations we calculate the trajectories of the vortices. We find
conditions under which a vortex-antivortex pair annihilates and is created
again. For the case of three vortices we show that at certain times two
additional vortices may be created, which move through the condensate and
annihilate each other again. For a noninteracting condensate this process is
periodic, whereas for small interactions the essential features persist, but
the periodicity is lost. The results are compared to exact numerical solutions
