AbstractThe relationship between different artistries is an interesting concept for both the academicians who are in related organizations and artists in these organizations. The aim of this study is to reveal the relationship between emotions that is a result of painting which has both abstract and real concepts and emotions that is a result of music which has generally abstract concept. The total field under this survey is Gazi University and the sample is the students in the Faculty of Vocational Education, Painting Department. The qualitative information will be acquired via observation method and this qualitative information will be transformed to quantitative information by using statistical analysis. At the end of the study, the relationship between painting and music will be determined and there will be some necessary suggestions

A Qualitative Inquiry in the Evaluation of a Pedagogical Course from the Prospective Teachers’ Points of View

Qualitative inquiry has gained importance in the evaluation of educational settings because it provides in-depth information, shedding light on context, situations, or processes. In this study, a qualitative inquiry was undertaken in order to evaluate a pedagogical course from the prospective teachers’ points of view. In this case study, data were collected through focus group interviews with three groups of prospective teachers. The lack of putting theories into practice, the lack of relating the topics to teaching life, the lack of attention and participation, and the lack of a variety of materials appeared to be the most essential problems. In this study, the expressed problems and suggestions were discussed in terms of their implications for the improvement of the course

The studies that reveal the impact of the bee products on overall health are accompanied by new researches every year, and the importance of these researches are gradually on the rise. Bee products that are used as food and food supplements and drug concentrations in the historic process are drawing the attention with their marvellous characteristic features. The search for nourishment of the body on behalf of healthy living is currently being searched by many people. Therefore, the consumption of products that protect the health appears as the primary preference of people. In the light of this recent tendency, food sector is now offering well-supported products that are suitable for this preference. At this point, bee products such as honey, pollen, bee bread, royal jelly and propolis gain importance as functional food with their nutritious features that help in protecting the health. In this article, within the consideration of the researches that evaluate bee products as functional food, we aim to introduce the prominence of bee products in our nourishment and overall health

A novel prenatal index predicting the probability of neonatal intensive care in pregnants: amnion progesterone receptor to alfa fetoprotein rate

    Get PDF
Introduction: Amniocentesis (AC) is the most used interventional procedure for prenatal diagnosis. The study aims to evaluate the pregnancy outcomes undergoing AC and the potential of amnion progesterone receptor (aPR) to alfa fetoprotein (AFP) rate for predicting the probability of neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). Material and methods: This prospective cross-sectional study population consisted of 85 pregnant women who underwent mid-trimester AC. All cases were screened by ultrasound before AC. Maternal venous and amniotic samples were obtained simultaneously to evaluate the serum progesterone (sPRG), aPR, and aAFP and analyzed with patient results. Results: Unlike sPRG and aAFP, aPR showed a positive correlation with NICU and a negative correlation with parity. In linear regression, the aPR-AFP rate showed strong linearity with NICU and parity. In an aPR-AFP rate analysis, we saw a strong predictivity for NICU compared to the other three parameters. It presented 73.4% specificity and 79% sensitivity at 0.0075 cut-off (AUC: 0.78; p = 0.003; 95% CI: 0.608–0.914). Conclusions: Evaluating the PR either alone or in a rational combination with AFP will provide physicians with valuable information about the advanced process of pregnancy and postpartum complications. The physicians might use the aPR-AFP rate to predict NICU potential for pregnancy and need further studies to make more vital predictions on postpartum complications

Radiation oncology is a field of medicine that has been rapidly growing with advances in technology, radiobiology, treatment algorithms and quality of life of modern radiotherapy over the last century. In the context of these advances, it is critical to be aware of the role of the young radiation oncologists and enable them to discover new perspectives. For this purpose, “The Young Radiation Oncologists Group” (GROG) has been established by the Turkish Society for Radiation Oncology (TROD), a subgroup which has focused on the professional developments, early career and integrating into the TROD family while supporting education and innovative research of young radiation oncologists. The purpose of this paper was to outline the structure and responsibilities of GROG and its scientific and social activities within TROD and in its own right.

Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı obstrüktif uyku apne sendromu (OUAS) olan erişkin erkek hastaların kraniofasiyal morfolojik özellikleri değerlendirmektir. Gereç ve Yöntem: Çalışmada 80 erkek hastanın (60 sefalogramları değerlendirildi. Bireyler Grup 1: horlama (AHİ5); Grup 2: hafif OUAS (5AHİ15); Grup 3: orta OUAS(15 AHİ30) ; Grup 4: şiddetli OUAS (AHİ30) olarak değerlendirildi. Sefalogramlar üzerinde hyoid, dil kökü ve yumuşak damak konumu, kranioservikal postür ve havayolu genişliğini belirleyen ölçümler yapıldı. Gruplar arasındaki farklar normal dağılım gösteren değişkenlerde tek yönlü varyans analizi ve Duncan testiyle, normal dağılım göstermeyen değişkenlerde Kruskal düzeltmesi uygulanarak Mann Whitney U testiyle yapıld

WOS: 000298088500004This study was carried out to determine the effects of using formic and oxalic acids against Varroa jacobsoni Q. which is the most hazardous parasite of honey bees (Apis mellifera L.) alternately in different seasons on the efficiency in Varroa treatment and colony development of honey bees. About 35 honey bee colonies in same of queen ages (1 year old) from Buckfast race were used in the research. Colonies were equalized for natural varroa levels and adult-brood bee population, prior to the research. Colonies were selected randomly as 2 treatment groups with 14 colonies and one control group with 7 colonies in the autumn and then the treatment goups were divided into 2 for using organic acids alternately so, 5 research groups (O/F, O/O, F/F, F/O and control) were used for the following spring. Varroa levels, treatment effectiveness, adult bee and brood population growth of groups were determined in autumn and spring, before and after the research. In autumn and spring experiments, Varroa infestation levels of the treatment groups were significantly reduced after the oxalic and formic acid applications (p0.05)

Incorporating critical thinking in the pedagogical content of a teacher education programme: does it make a difference?

    No full text
Recent educational policies, national reports, and voluminous literature stress that critical thinking (CT) is an essential skill in any stage of schooling for producing critical thinkers and ensuring better learning. The importance of teaching CT has been raised in teacher education programmes because students are supposed to teach this skill in schools in the future. This study therefore assesses the effects of a CT-based pedagogical course on student teachers' content knowledge and CT disposition. A pre-test-post-test experimental study was carried out in a vocational pre-service teacher education programme in Turkey. Although the students who were exposed to CT-based instruction showed better progress in both academic achievement and CT disposition than in traditional instruction, this result was not statistically significant according to the Mixed Factorial ANOVA and ANCOVA results
