Student retention’s strategy has been key interest of Universities worldwide in line with its potential benefits in improving the University’s image besides contributing to the improvement in the institution’s financial performance. Recent communication technologies which are known for their ability to reaching the target market have gradually nullified the utilization of the traditional advertising tools. Of these communication technologies, education institutions are gradually embracing the social media in order to leverage its potential benefits. Review on the past studies reveals that there is an abundant of quantitative researches which investigated the use of social media by university’s students where limited focus was on the qualitative approach. This study intended to explore the underlying insights on the use of social media by carrying out semi-structured interviews among foreign students of the private higher education institutions located in Klang Valley, Malaysia. This study found that utilization of social media, quality information, usage influences and students’ engagement are the four important themes pertaining to the use of social media discovered from the interview sessions conducted. This study also provides several implications for both practitioners and academics

Assessment of compliance in drug taking is a problem in a crowded Outpatient Department. Using riboflavin as a urinary marker is a simple and rational method. Identifying riboflavin in the urine by fluorescence on exposure to ultraviolet (UV) rays or torch light is being used in medical practice but not extensively. In this study, the validity and reliability of these methods were assessed. The sensitivity and specificity of this test by UV method was 86% and 82% for Reader I (medical person) and 82% and 94% for Reader II (paramedical person). For Reader 1, the accuracy of reading by UV lamp was the same as torch light (85%) whereas for Reader II the accuracy was better with UV lamp (87%) than with torch (79%). In reading the fluorescence by UV lamp the crude agreement between the 2 readers was 82% and chance corrected agreement was 64%. UV lamp method appears to be a reliable way of assessing compliance both by medical and paramedical persons whereas torch method appears to be more reliable when used by a medical person than by a paramedical person

Background: Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) affects about 4 to 12% of women worldwide. PCOS is the most common cause of anavulation in infertile women. The endocrine dysfunction of PCOS is aggravated by obesity. Weight management is the first line treatment of this condition. In this study, we tried to compare acarbose versus orlistat in weight management of infertile women with polycystic ovarian syndrome. The aim of this study was to compare the effects of acarbose and orlistat in weight management of infertile polycystic ovarian syndrome women. Methods: This open label randomized controlled trial study was conducted in the Department of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, BSMMU, Dhaka, Bangladesh. The study period was 1 year from July 2019 to June 2020. A total of 32 obese infertile women with PCOS were included in the study and randomized to two treatment arms: acarbose 100 mg tds for 3 months and orlistat 120 mg tds for 3-months.Results: The response of adequate (>10%) weight reduction with acarbose was 67% of that with orlistat. The side effects with acarbose were 15% of that with orlistat. Acanthosis nigricans was reduced in 18.8% (n=3/16) of those receiving acarbose.Menstrual cycle regularized in 37.5% (n=6/16) in experimental (acarbose) group and in 18.8% (n=3/16) in control (orlistat) group. Conclusions: The therapeutic potential of acarbose in reducing weight was relatively less than orlistat in obese infertile PCOS women

11-22We report the biogenic synthesis of ZnO nanoparticles using Mangifera indica aqueous extract and density functional theory/time-dependent density functional theory (DFT/TD-DFT) calculations on Zn12O12 nanocluster compared with various basis sets (B3LYP/6-31G, B3LYP/LANL2DZ, and B97D). The genesis of ZnO nanoparticles was achieved from the reduction of capping agent ZnSo4. The properties of ZnO nanoparticles were signalized by UV, FTIR, FESEM-EDAX, and XRD analysis. The intense band at 380nm in the UV-Vis absorption spectrum results from the formation of ZnO nanoparticles. The structure of ZnO nanoparticles was anatomized by FESEM analysis and the presence of Zn was confirmed using EDAX. The frontier molecular orbital exploration has been investigated to govern the charge transfer characteristics of donor-acceptor moieties of the Zn12O12. The energy gap (Eg), binding energy (EB), global reactivity descriptors, and the total dipole moment has also been investigated for Zn12O12. The total density of states (DOS) was analyzed to describe the orbital hybridization of Zn12O12. Mulliken atomic charge distribution, NBO analysis and molecular electrostatic potential (MEP) have also been studied. The first-order hyperpolarizability calculation proves that the Zn12O12 is a suitable candidate with the predominant nonlinear optical property. TD-DFT excited state analysis of Zn12O12 was completely consistent with the experimental data of the UV-Vis spectrum makes its application in solar cells

Background: Some men with severely defective sperm production commonly have excess aromatase activity, reflected by low serum testosterone and relatively elevated estradiol levels. Elevated levels of estrogen lead to feedback inhibition of the hypothalamic -pituitary-gonadal axis, and the end result is a decrease in LH necessary for the production of testosterone, and FSH to optimize sperm production. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of aromatase inhibitor, letrozole on the semen parameters of infertile male having oligozoospermia, low serum testosterone level and testosterone to estradiol ratio <10.Methods: This Prospective study was conducted in the Department of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, Dhaka, Bangladesh during the period from May 2019 to April 2020. The sample size was 30 subfertile men with oligozoospermia (≤ 10 million/ml), low serum testosterone level (<300 ng/dl) and low testosterone to estradiol ratio (<10). All patients were treated with letrozole 2.5 mg daily for 4 months. At the end of the 4 months the semen analysis was performed. Statistical analysis was carried out by using IBM Statistical Package for Social Sciences version 25 for windows (SPSS version 25.0).Results: The sperm concentration, sperm motility and total motile sperm count significantly increased after letrozole treatment. The side effects were mild and well tolerated. Conclusions: This study suggests that some men with oligozoospermia, low serum testosterone levels and normal gonadotropin concentration may have a treatable endocrinopathy. Letrozole may be used to improve sperm parameters in infertile men with low serum testosterone to estradiol ratio

Objectives: In this present work, we have compared titanium dioxide nanocrystals synthesized by both chemical method and biological method from Titanium tetra isopropoxide as precursor. The biological method was performed by using the aqueous root extract of Desmodium gangeticum and further they were characterized and checked for their biological activities. Methods: The TiO2 nanocrystals were characterized by UV-Visible spectrophotometer for its maximum SPR peak, X-ray diffractometry for its crystalline size and shape, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy for functional entity identification and Zeta potential for its colloidal stability. Antioxidant assay and antimicrobial test were performed to evaluate its biological behaviour. Results: The nanocrystals synthesized by biological method were found to have higher antioxidant potential, antimicrobial activity and phenolic content than the chemically synthesized ones. Evaluation of toxicity in cell line LLC-PK1 suggests that TiO2nanocrystals synthesized by green route is less toxic. Conclusion: Green synthesized TiO2 nanocrystals were seen to have less toxicity than the chemical method in showing their biocompatibility nature which can be applied in the field of medical science

The objective of this work was to evaluate the occurrence of polyembryonic seedlings and other morphological parameters in Khasi mandarin during three harvest years and to identify zygotic (sexual) seedlings from nucellar (asexual) ones grown under in-vitro conditions using molecular markers. Embryos from 27 polyembryonic and 7 monoembryonic seeds of Khasi mandarin were grown in-vitro. DNA from seedlings and mother parent was analyzed using 16 ISSR and 5 RAPD primers, of which 4 ISSR and a set of 3 RAPD primers were effective to identify zygotic or nucellar origin of the seedlings. In-vitro culture enables maximum embryos of each seed to grow, favouring the origin of seedlings to be identified as zygotic. Among 69 tested individuals, 37 zygotic and 32 nucellar seedlings were recognized. In polyembryonic and monoembryonic seeds, 59.6% and 42.8% of the seedlings, respectively, have the sexual origin. Morphological characteristics of seeds and the seedlings generated varied significantly and were not correlated with polyembryony except for the clutch size and the number of branches. Polyembryonic seeds in the cultivar are high, ranging from 50.0%, 55.5% to 83.3% over three harvest years with more clutch size and the possibility of obtaining zygotic plants from them is high. In polyembryonic seeds not all zygotic seedlings were produced by small embryos located at the micropyle. Identification of zygotic seedlings by ISSR and RAPD markers in Khasi mandarin cultivar is efficient and reliable at an early developmental stage

Background: Early pregnancy failure is a common complication of pregnancy. If women do not abort spontaneously, they will undergo medical or surgical treatment in order to remove the products of conception from the uterus. Curettage, although highly effective, is associated with a risk of complications; medical treatment with misoprostol is a safe and less expensive alternative. Unfortunately, after 1 week of expectant management in case of EPF, medical treatment with misoprostol has a complete evacuation rate of approximately 50%. Misoprostol treatment results may be improved by pre-treatment with mifepristone; its effectiveness has already been proven for other indications of pregnancy termination. The study objective was to compare the outcome of Mifepristone alone with the Mifepristone- Misoprostol combination regimen for the management of IUFD.Methods: This was a Prospective clinical trial at the department of obstetrics and gynecology, Chittagong Medical College Hospital, Chittagong. From March 2016 (Actual patient enrolment started after obtaining ethical clearance i.e. March 2018) to September 2018.Results: A subjects delivered earlier than group B and the mean induction delivery interval in Group A is significantly less in comparison to Group B (p=<0.001). Out of 50 women, 2(4%) and 10(20%) women in Groups A and B required oxytocin infusion to establish good contractions, and completion of termination who regarded as a failure. In the mifepristone alone group, the success rate is significantly higher than in the combination group. Conclusions: The efficacy of mifepristone alone was found superior to that of the mifepristone misoprostol combination regimen in the present study.

The reaction of phenols with the excited state, *[Ru(bpy)3]2+ (E0 = 0.76V) and *[Ru(H2dcbpy)3]2+, (dcbpy = 4,4'-dicarboxy-2,2'-bipyridine) (E0 = 1.55 V vs. SCE) complexes in CH3CN has been studied by luminescence quenching technique and the quenching is dynamic. The formation of phenoxyl radical as a transient is confirmed by its characteristic absorption at 400 nm. The kq value is highly sensitive to the change of pH of the medium and ΔG0 of the reaction. Based on the treatment of kq data in terms of energetics of the reaction and pH of the medium, proton coupled electron transfer (PCET) mechanism has been proposed for the reaction

A Framework for Securing Health Information Using Blockchain in Cloud Hosted Cyber Physical Systems

Electronic Health Records (EHRs) have undergone numerous technical improvements in recent years, including the incorporation of mobile devices with the cloud computing technologies to facilitate medical data exchanges between patients and the healthcare professionals. This cutting-edge architecture enables cyber physical systems housed in the cloud to provide healthcare services with minimal operational costs, high flexibility, security, and EHR accessibility. If patient health information is stored in the hospital database, there will always be a risk of intrusion, i.e., unauthorized file access and information modification by attackers. To address this concern, we propose a decentralized EHR system based on Blockchain technology. To facilitate secure EHR exchange across various patients and medical providers, we develop a reliable access control method based on smart contracts. We incorporate Cryptocurrency, specifically Ethereum, in the suggested system to protect sensitive health information from potential attackers. In our suggested approach, both physicians and patients are required to be authenticated. Patients can register, and a block with a unique hash value will be generated. Once the patient discusses the disease with the physician, the physician can check the patient's condition and offer drugs. For experimental findings, we employ the public Block chain Ganache and solidity remix-based smart contracts to protect privacy. Ethers are used as the crypto currencies
