A Note on Chern-Simons Solitons - a type III vortex from the wall vortex
We study some properties of topological Chern-Simons vortices in 2 + 1
dimensions. As has already been understood in the past, in the large magnetic
flux limit, they are well described by a Chern-Simons domain wall, which has
been compactified on a circle with the symmetric phase inside and the
asymmetric phase on the outside. Our goal is two-fold. First we want to explore
how the tension depends on the magnetic flux discretized by the integer n. The
BPS case is already known, but not much has been explored about the non-BPS
potentials. A generic renormalizable potential has two dimensionless parameters
that can be varied. Variation of only one of them lead to a type I and type II
vortex, very similar to the Abrikosov-Nielsen-Olesen (ANO) case. Variation of
both the parameters leads to a much richer structure. In particular we have
found a new type of vortex, which is type I-like for small flux and then turns
type II-like for larger flux. We could tentatively denote it a type III vortex.
This results in a stable vortex with number of fluxes which can be greater than
one. Our second objective is to study the Maxwell-Chern-Simons theory and and
understand how the large n limit of the CS vortex is smoothly connected with

A study of supercooling of the disordered vortex phase via minor hysteresis loops in 2H-NbSe_2
We report on the observation of novel features in the minor hysteresis loops
in a clean crystal of NbSe_2 which displays a peak effect. The observed
behavior can be explained in terms of a supercooling of the disordered vortex
phase while cooling the superconductor in a field. Also, the extent of spatial
order in a flux line lattice formed in ascending fields is different from (and
larger than) that in the descending fields below the peak position of the peak
effect; this is attributed to unequal degree of annealing of the state induced

Gauged Lifshitz scalar field theories in two dimensions
We present two-dimensional gauged Lifshitz scalar field theories by
considering the duality relation between the source current and the Noether
current. Requiring the duality partially, we obtain a gauged model which
recovers the bosonized Schwinger model for the IR limit. For the exact duality,
however, the source current is not conserved, which means that the resulting
theory is anomalous, so that the number of degrees of freedom is increased. The
second model is consistently formulated by adding the Wess-Zumino type action
to maintain the gauge invariance.Comment: 11 page
Hawking Radiation of Black Holes in Infrared Modified Ho\v{r}ava-Lifshitz Gravity
We study the Hawking radiation of the spherically symmetric, asymptotically
flat black holes in the infrared modified Horava-Lifshitz gravity by applying
the methods of covariant anomaly cancellation and effective action, as well as
the approach of Damour-Ruffini-Sannan's. These black holes behave as the usual
Schwarzschild ones of the general relativity when the radial distance is very
large. We also extend the method of covariant anomaly cancellation to derive
the Hawking temperature of the spherically symmetric, asymptotically AdS black
holes that represent the analogues of the Schwarzschild AdS ones.Comment: no figures, 16 pages,accepted by EPJ
Topological Charged Black Holes in High Dimensional Spacetimes and Their Formation from Gravitational Collapse of a Type II Fluid
Topological charged black holes coupled with a cosmological constant in
spacetimes are studied, where is an Einstein
space of the form . The global structure for
the four-dimensional spacetimes with is investigated systematically.
The most general solutions that represent a Type fluid in such a high
dimensional spacetime are found, and showed that topological charged black
holes can be formed from the gravitational collapse of such a fluid. When the
spacetime is (asymptotically) self-similar, the collapse always forms black
holes for , in contrast to the case , where it can form

Scintillation Counters for the D0 Muon Upgrade
We present the results of an upgrade to the D0 muon system. Scintillating
counters have been added to the existing central D0 muon system to provide
rejection for cosmic ray muons and out-of-time background, and to provide
additional fast timing information for muons in an upgraded Tevatron.

The accelerated scaling attractor solution of the interacting agegraphic dark energy in Brans-Dicke theory
We investigate the interacting agegraphic dark energy in Brans-Dicke theory
and introduce a new series general forms of dark sector coupling. As examples,
we select three cases involving a linear interaction form (Model I) and two
nonlinear interaction form (Model II and Model III). Our conclusions show that
the accelerated scaling attractor solutions do exist in these models. We also
find that these interacting agegraphic dark energy modes are consistent with
the observational data. The difference in these models is that nonlinear
interaction forms give more approached evolution to the standard CDM
model than the linear one. Our work implies that the nonlinear interaction

Branching Fractions for D0 -> K+K- and D0 -> pi+pi-, and a Search for CP Violation in D0 Decays
Using the large hadroproduced charm sample collected in experiment E791 at
Fermilab, we have measured ratios of branching fractions for the two-body
singly-Cabibbo-suppressed charged decays of the D0:
(D0 -> KK)/(D0 -> Kpi) = 0.109 +- 0.003 +- 0.003,
(D0 -> pipi)/(D0 -> Kpi) = 0.040 +- 0.002 +- 0.003, and
(D0 -> KK)/(D0 -> pipi) = 2.75 +- 0.15 +- 0.16. We have looked for
differences in the decay rates of D0 and D0bar to the CP eigenstates K+K- and
pi+pi-, and have measured the CP asymmetry parameters
A_CP(K+K-) = -0.010 +- 0.049 +- 0.012 and
A_CP(pi+pi-) = -0.049 +- 0.078 +- 0.030, both consistent with zero.Comment: 10 Postscript pages, including 2 figures. Submitted to Phys. Lett.
