Developing a Mini Smart House model

    Get PDF
The work is devoted to designing a smart home educational model. The authors analyzed the literature in the field of the Internet of Things and identified the basic requirements for the training model. It contains the following levels: command, communication, management. The authors identify the main subsystems of the training model: communication, signaling, control of lighting, temperature, filling of the garbage container, monitoring of sensor data. The proposed smart home educational model takes into account the economic indicators of resource utilization, which gives the opportunity to save on payment for their consumption. The hardware components for the implementation of the Mini Smart House were selected in the article. It uses a variety of technologies to conveniently manage it and use renewable energy to power it. The model was produced in-dependently by students involved in the STEM project. Research includes sketching, making construction parts, sensor assembly and Arduino boards, programming in the Arduino IDE environment, testing the functioning of the system. Research includes sketching, making some parts, assembly sensor and Arduino boards, programming in the Arduino IDE environment, testing the functioning of the system. Approbation Mini Smart House researches were conducted within activity the STEM-center of Physics and Mathematics Faculty of Ternopil Volodymyr Hnatiuk National Pedagogical University, in particular during the educational process and during numerous trainings and seminars for pupils and teachers of computer science

The article describes a methodology for organizing lifelong learning, professional retraining of teachers in STEM field and their lifelong learning in Volodymyr Hnatiuk Ternopil National Pedagogical University (Ukraine). It analyzes foreign and domestic approaches and concepts for the implementation of STEM in educational institutions. A model of retraining teachers in the prospect of developing their STEM competencies and a model of STEM competencies were created. The developed model of STEM competencies for professional teacher training and lifelong learning includes four components (Problem solving, Working with people, Work with technology, Work with organizational system), which are divided into three domains of STEM competencies: Skills, Knowledge, Work activities. In order to implement and adapt the model of STEM competencies to the practice of the educational process, an experimental study was conducted. The article describes the content of the scientific research and the circle of respondents and analyzes the results of the research

STEM-education is one of the important areas of the educational reform of XXI century. Modern initiatives in the field of STEM require the development of a model for transforming education that would correspond to contemporary demands of society. Such a general scenario and preliminary statement confirm the thesis underlying this research: there is a need to transform the existing model of training, first of all, pedagogical staff from classical education to innovative STEM-education. It was found that institutions and scholars are searching for new approaches to prepare people for solving real problems of the surrounding world through different STEM-approaches in education. In the article, the authors describe the transformation model of education for the introduction of the STEM-approach in a pedagogical university in order to prepare educators of a new formation and the main indicators of its effectiveness

At present, various strategies and initiatives focused on innovation of educational technologies in higher pedagogical education are offered in Ukraine. The study of the state of the formation of teachers’ digital competences in the process of their professional development has been carried out on the basis of Ternopil Volodymyr Hnatiuk National Pedagogical University. The article analyzes foreign and national approaches and strategies to the development of teachers’ digital competences. The results of the study, aimed to determine the features of mastering digital competencies in the process of teachers’ professional development and their lifelong learning, are presented. In total, 258 teachers from Ternopil and Ternopil region (Ukraine) took part in this research. The study combines a variety of statistical tools and techniques in the real contexts of higher education. The research has been carried out to determine the characteristics of elements that measure the digital competency of the professional development. The results were processed based on the Item Response Theory (IRT). This article demonstrates the utility of the standardized LD Ο‡ 2 statistic and the M2 statistic as provided in the software IRTPRO, but not available readily in most IRT programs and not discussed commonly in pedagogical papers for IRT. On the basis of the research carried out at the Ternopil Volodymyr Hnatiuk National Pedagogical University, the strategy for the professional development of digital competencies of teachers in the process of their lifelong learning has been developed, which takes into account the results of the analysis of the criteria and indicators inherent for the qualitative improvement of qualifications, that have been determined by international standards and studies of professional institutions

The article analyzes the transformation of the educational paradigm of higher education from e-learning to SMART-learning and describes theoretical and practical aspects of the digital competencies formation of future teachers in the context of creating new knowledge in the SMART-University environment. The organizational and pedagogical conditions, principles and pedagogical methods of forming digital competencies are determined. A three-dimensional model for the formation of digital competencies in the context of creating new knowledge became the methodological basis for the pilot course β€œInformation and communication technologies in education and science” for undergraduates of the pedagogical university. An experimental study was conducted in order to implement this model into the educational process of Ternopil National Pedagogical University. The results of the study showed that the role of pedagogical university is changing from providing knowledge to creating the conditions for students’ independent acquisition of new knowledge and forming appropriate digital competencies in the context of creating new knowledg
