    A pattern of research in Coronaviruses in Saudi Arabia from 2014-2018

    The aim: to observe the contribution of authors and the collaboration of institutes functioning in Saudi Arabia through the bibliometric review of literature in Coronaviruses. Design/Methods/Approach: Authors as solo or corroborators in research are the main sources to retrieve the material of their original articles, case reports and review articles published from 2014–2018 in PubMed indexed journals for estimation and tabulation. Results: Total 895; 3.5 % institutes (522; 58.3 % functioning locally and 373; 41.6 % internationally) in Saudi Arabia with the support of 1878; 7.4 % authors produced 253 articles from 2014 to 2018. Position of the author always matters in research, 207; 81.8 % authors had the first position followed by 28; 11 % as a second. Majority 72; 28.4 % articles published by single institute followed 46; 18.1 % and 49; 19.3 % by two and three institutes. Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare, Dhahran, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia publish 57; 6.3 % stand on lead followed by the Ministry of Health (All Regions) Kingdome of Saudi Arabia and King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences, Jeddah & Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, Community & General Medicine and Hospital Administration & Health Informatics were major disciplines of publications. Three journals, Journal of Infectious and Public Health, International Journal of Infectious Diseases and American Journal of Infection Control grab 147; 58.1 % share of publishing research. Conclusion: This study illustrates the determinations of the Saudi public and private healthcare sectors to handle the epidemic situation and uphold the esteem of people residing in catchment areas by means of technical, logistical and financial aid to managers and decision-makers

    Research productivity of the Journal of Pakistan Medical Association published during the period 1978 - 2017.

    aim: The aim of this study was, to calculate the amount and decade-wise growth of scientific articles publish under the caption of original and review articles, case and short reports, and special and short communications in the Journal of Pakistan Medical Association (JPMA) during the period of 1978 – 2017. Methods: The data of 480 issues of JPMA was manually retrieved and collected to tabulate in Microsoft Excel 2010 from the website of the journal for the period 1978 - 2017. Results: This study showed that 5796 articles were published (n=1449 per decade, 120.7 per annum) during the period of 1978 – 2017. Original articles 3750; 7.8% were published as per issue and take the highest position followed by 1281; 266 per issue and short communications 114; 0.23 take the least position in the space in four decades of publishing period. The fourth decade produced 72% more publications than first, 53.2% second and 40.8% a third decade. Conclusion: This study showed that the remarkable inclusion of articles in the decade to decade. The new decade produced more research instead of a previous decade. It is helpful to researchers for contributions to research in health sciences

The purpose of an IR is to collect, preserve, and share the intellectual work of an institution, making it accessible to a wider audience. An IR typically includes research articles, conference papers, theses and dissertations, preprints, reports, datasets, multimedia, and other scholarly and creative works produced by faculty, staff, and students. An institutional profile in Google Scholar can function as an institutional repository. While it may not have all the features and functionalities of a traditional institutional repository, it can still provide a platform for institutions to share and showcase their research output

    Employing bibliometric analysis on research published in Pakistan Journal of Medical and Health Sciences from 2019 – 2009.

    Introduction: Pakistan Journal of Medical and Health Sciences is peer review and indexed in the Scopus-Elsevier database. This study signifies the participation of (PJMHS) in the research productivity, published from 2019 - 2009. Material and Methods: The records of the published data retrieved from PJMHS website and Scopus-Elsevier database for tabulation in MS Office Excel Sheet. Frequency of publications, type of documents, usage of pages, citations, and association of the first author with their countries. Results: Total 3817 documents written by 15401 (4%) authors in seven categories published in 43 issues. An average of (2.8%) pages consumed with getting of 896 (23.4%) citations in publications. Collaboration of three authors contributed 1339 (36.6%) documents and got first slot, and four authors 3344 (21.7%) added 836 (22%) of documents. The first authors affiliated with 29 countries around the globe participated in publications; Pakistan with 3484 (91%), Iran 79 (2%), Indonesia 77 (2%), and Kingdome of Saudi Arabia 65 (1.7%) stand on top places. Conclusion: Pakistan Journal of Medical and Health Sciences (PJMHS) is a peer-reviewed journal published continuously and facilitates research communities of medical and health sciences to get their attention in sharing ideas on a reciprocal basis from similar specialties or sub-specialties of common disciplines

    Comparative Bibliometric Analysis of Six Health Science Journals Published in Pakistan 2006-2015

    Introduction: The aim of this study is to compare the growth of research published in following six e-journals published from Pakistan during the period of 2006-2015. 1). Journal Surgery of Pakistan, 2). Pakistan Journal of Medical Research, 3). Pakistan Pediatric Journal, 4). Pakistan Journal of Ophthalmology, 5). Pakistan Heart Journal and 6). Journal of Liaquat University of Medical & Health Sciences. Methodology: The data of published items of all targeted six Pakistani medical journals were downloaded from their respective websites and saved the required information in Microsoft Excel Sheet during January to May 2018 for statistical analysis. Number of published items, authors, gender-wise segregation of authors and authorship pattern were calculated. Results: Total 2133 research items published in 230 issues of six e-journals during 2006-2015 with an average of 9.27 articles per issue, 7949 authors contributed their research with an average of 3.72 authors per papers. Gender-wise distribution of authors showed that majority of authors (n=6022; 75.7%) were male while female authors counted 1921 (24.1%). Gender-wise distribution of first author revealed that the share of female authors were 28.2%. Bulk of research (n=1951; 91.4%) were produced by collaborative efforts. Conclusion: It is concluded that surgery and allied specialties is the preferred area of research and there is need to conduct more research on cardiology.     The Purpose of the study is to examine the effect of Social Marketing Techniques on the Knowledge and Attitude of health scholars at the Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences Hospital Hyderabad Sindh, Pakistan. Quantitative study methods to use for analysis. The study population includes all students and faculty members of the Liaquat University Hospital, and the simple random sampling technique was used. Primary data collected through an adapted questionnaire. SPSS 20 software were used to analyze the tests like; validity and reliability, Cronbach\u27s alpha, descriptive and inferential statistics paired t-test and test. Result of validity and reliability was 0.82 and 0.92. Social marketing intervention has significantly increased on the average knowledge and attitude of the target population. The change of awareness in the dimension of accessibility (3.3), cost of participation, and communication also increased significantly. The lack of awareness about the role of medical library services leads to reduced. Social marketing is an appropriate way of information to users regarding services and resources creates a positive attitude among the health communities. According to the libraries\u27 social role, social marketing is an appropriate way to inform library users and helps to create a positive attitude among the country\u27s health community

    Research trends in hepatitis C at Pakistan from 2014 – 2018

    Abstract: Purpose: This retrospective study, evaluate the publications published in PubMed Indexed journals through authors who participated as the first or as a participatory author associated with institutes functioning in Pakistan. Methods: The information related to literature in hepatitis C was published, and retrieved on October 1st, 2019 from the PubMed/Medline database to tabulate in Microsoft Excel 2010. Yearly growth of articles, the pattern of authorship, position and participation of the author in manuscript, subject-wise distribution of research, the involvement of institutes, and frequency of journals were objectives from the period 2014 - 2018. Results: This study showed that 93 institutes are functioning in Pakistan contributed and participated with collaboration nationally and internationally in n=291; 24.2 per annum and 4.8 articles per month and 58.2 average articles are written by 1744; 5.9 authors were published from 2014 – 2018. The institutional repository shows that the majority of articles 134; 46 were written and participated by a single institute. The inclusion of 258; 88.6 authors from the host country as the first author and followed by 11; 3.7 as the second author out of 291 manuscripts shows the severity of the topic. The presence of 280; 96.2 of multi-authorship is strengthened to the importance of collaborative communications in research. Pharmacology 64; 22%, took the importance followed by Hepatology 41; 14%, Community Medicine 34; 11.6% and Chemistry / Biochemistry 30; 10.3% in specialties and subspecialties as a subject out of 23 subjects. Conclusion: This research shows the timely and significant responses from the researchers of the host country to tackle the burden and shared their part in preventive and cure measures. Drug therapy, the functioning of laboratories, and the prevailing awareness in society about this disease are on top priority among the common people, Government bodies, and intellectuals of academics

    Pakistan Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences: A Bibliometric Assessment from 1998-2012.

    Background: Bibliometric assessment of journal literature helps the policy makers to formulate policies regarding the related subject and to know the latest trends of publications. The pharmaceutical sciences are combination of various academics fields and technologies of pharmaceutical products related to design, action, delivery and nature of drugs. The aim of this study is to evaluate the research productivity of Pakistan Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences (PJPS). Research Methods: This is retrospective study on research items published in PJPS during 1998 – 2012 carried out at Libraries of King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences, Saudi Arabia during March to September 2017. The data was collected from the website of respective journal. Spreadsheet of Microsoft Excel was prepared for statistical analysis. Results: PJPS published 722 articles contributed by 2504 authors with an average of 4.06 authors per article during the years 1998 – 2012. Male authors (67%) were dominated in writing research items. Majority of articles (97%) were written by multi-authors, single author share was very small (3%). Pharmacognosy found to be the most preferred area of research. The contribution from the researchers of 32 countries produced 329 (45.5%) articles revealed that the journal has international recognition. Conclusion: PJPS creates a credible place for imparting the knowledge of pharmaceutical sciences research from all around the world, providing a platform to scientists and researchers to share their information to another one for saving a life

    Bibliometric estimation of research productivity, published in the European Journal of International Law from 2006 – 2019

    Introduction of study: This study portrays the European Journal of International Law\u27s published data from 2006 - 2019, indexed in the Scopus-Elsevier database. Methodology: The retrieved data tabulated in MS Office Excel Sheet. The author\u27s role and collaboration, type of documents, and association of the first author with the country aimed to explore the issue and year wise frequency of publications. Results: Total 739 documents published and distributed in seven categories original articles 582; 78.7%, followed by 59; 8% review articles and 56; 7.5% editorials got the top slot in the publications. Single or solo authors wrote the documents produced by 841; 1.1% authors, majority 621; 84%; research papers. The affiliation of the first author belongs to forty-three countries. In this study, The United Kingdom on the top slot with 147; 19.8% publications, followed by United States 119; 16.1%, and Italy 118; 16%. Twelve articles published in random years got a maximum of 348 and a minimum of 100 citations. Conclusion: The European Journal of International Law regularly publishes a consistent approach and promotes international law writings.
