    The Effectiveness of Using Conversation Video Entitled “Apology” to Improve Students' Pronunciation Ability the Case of Tenht Year SMA N 1 Jepara

    The main objectives of this research are: (1) To know there are effectiveness or not of improving students' pronunciation ability taught without using conversation video entitled “apology” (2) To know there are effectiveness or not of improving students' pronunciation ability taught using conversation video entitled “apology” (3) to find out whether there is or not significant difference of the effectiveness of improving students' pronunciation ability taught without using conversation video entitled “apology” and taught using conversation video entitled “apology”. This study is pre experimental research. The population of the research is 300 students of the tenth grade students of SMA N 1 Jepara 2012/2013. The writer took 30 students from oneclass. The instrument of this research is spoken test. The writer gave the students pre test, treatments and post-test. The treatment is that the students were taught by using conversation video entitled “apology”.The research result is that the mean of score post-test class (71,53) is higher than score pre test class (62,33). The writer used T-test formula to know the differences of pre test and post class score. The result of t-test is 12,16 and the t-table of 30 students is 1.967. The value of T-table is lower than T-test, so it can be concluded that there is a significant improvement of student's pronunciation ability taught using conversation video entitled “apology”of tenth grade students of SMA N 1 Jepara

    Kajian Respon Debit Mataair Ngeleng terhadap Curah Hujan untuk Karakterisasi Akuifer Karst

    Sistem akuifer karst memiliki sifat heterogen-anisotropis. Keunikan akuifer karst memeberikan perbedaan dalam proses evaluasi dan pemahaman mengenai sifat akuifer karst. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah (1) Mengetahui pola korelasi antara recharge yang berupa curah hujan dengan discharge yang berupa debit pada Mataair Ngeleng secara temporal; (2) Menganalisis komponen aliran mataair yang berkaitan dengan respon debit terhadap curah hujan guna mengetahui karakteristik akuifer karst Mataair Ngeleng. Proses evaluasi dengan analisis resesi hidrograf dan korelasi discharge – recharge menjadi pendekatan untuk mengetahui karakter dari sistem akuifer daerah kajian. Penelitian ini menggunakan data time series. Korelasi discharge – recharge menunjukan respon cepat dengan waktu jeda kenaikan debit 2 jam setelah hujan. Kondisi tersebut mengindikasikan sudah berkembang sistem aliran cepat (aliran celah dan saluran) pada akuifer mataair. Hasil yang sama juga ditunjukan dari analisis resesi hidrograf yang menunjukan terdapat 3 komponen aliran yang menyuplai mataair, yaitu komponen aliran diffuse (rembesan), fissure (celah) dan conduit (saluran)

    Nonlinear Photonic Crystal for All-optical Switching Appli

    An all-optical switching device is a crucial component for developing high speed data transmission and signal processing in telecommunication network. The device is based on nonlinear optical material, whose refractive index depends on light intensity. Recently, photonic crystals have been considerable interest both theoretically and experimentally for optical switching devices. Due to the practical reason, we studied one-dimensional nonlinear photonic crystal for all-optical switching devices. We use transfer matrix method and nonlinear coupled mode equation to determine photonic bandgap and optical switching process. We applied them to different structures: nonlinear Distributed Bragg Reflector (DBR) and nonlinear photonic crystals which has similar linear refractive index but has opposite sign of nonlinear refractive index. By using an appropriate combination of refractive indices, it was found that the first structure can be used for all-optical switching at telecommunication wavelength (1.55 m). The second structure can be used both for all-optical switching and optical limiter at the wavelength of 1 m

    Environmental Factors and Students\u27 Learning Approaches: a Survey on Malaysian Polytechnics Students

    Several studies have shown the impact of environmental factors on student learning approaches. Despite the importance of such studies, studies on technical learners are few. Thus, this study aimed to determine the influence of learning environment on Polytechnics students\u27 learning approaches in Malaysia. Learning environment plays an important role in the cognitive, effective and social domains of students because it could improve students\u27 learning outcomes. Learning approaches refer to the ways students deal with academic tasks that are related to learning outcomes. This study used Course Experience Questionnaire (CEQ) and Revised Two-Factor Study Process Questionnaire (RSPQ-2F) to collect the research data. Data were analyzed using AMOS Version 18. Multiple regressions were conducted to predict learning environment factors that influenced the level of students\u27 learning approaches. The result shows that effective teaching is a major factor that influences students\u27 deep approach followed by the assessment, learning resources and clear objectives

    Fragmentation of Nimotuzumab for Preparation of 125I-F(ab’)2-Nimotuzumab as a Precursor for Preparing 125I-F(ab’)2-Nimotuzumab-NLS Radiopharmaceutical for Cancer Therapy

    Nimotuzumab is an anticancer agent which belongs to the inhibitor group of Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor (EGFR). Thismonoclonal antibody has a relatively high molecular weight which slowspenetration on tumor cells, making it less attractive in imaging kinetics and potentially elicits antibodies responses. Therefore, in this study nimotuzumab was fragmented to form a bivalent antibody [F(ab’)2] and then labeled with 125I to form 125I-F(ab’)2-nimotuzumab which can be used further as a precursor for preparing 125I-F(ab’)2-nimotuzumab-NLS(NLS = nuclear localization sequence) radiopharmaceuticalfor radioimmunotherapy. The aims of this study was to obtain  characteristics of 125I-F(ab’)2-nimotuzumab by comparing with the 125I labeled-intact nimotuzumab (125I-nimotuzumab). This study was initiated by purifying nimotuzumab by mean of dialysis. The purified nimotuzumab was then fragmented by using pepsin. The F(ab')2-nimotuzumab formed was then purified from its by-products which formed in fragmentation process by using a PD-10 column (consisted Sephadex G25). The intact nimotuzumab and its F(ab’)2 fragment were then labeled with the 125I to form 125I-nimotuzumab and 125I-F(ab’)2-nimotuzumab. The radiochemical purity are 98.27 % and 93.24 %, respectively. Stability test results show that, both 125I-nimotuzumab and 125I-F(ab’)2-nimotuzumab are more stable at 4 °C than at room temperature storage and 37 °C.Received: 24 May 2013; Revised: 21 February 2014; Accepted: 28 February 201
