Conformal Field Theory Correlators from Classical Scalar Field Theory on
We use the correspondence between scalar field theory on and a
conformal field theory on to calculate the 3- and 4-point functions of
the latter. The classical scalar field theory action is evaluated at tree
level.Comment: 9 pages, LaTeX2e with amsmath, amsfonts packages, section 2

People Detection and Pose Classification Inside a Moving Train Using Computer Vision
This paper has been presented at : 5th International Visual Informatics Conference (IVIC 2017)Also part of the Image Processing, Computer Vision, Pattern Recognition, and Graphics book sub series (LNIP, volume 10645)The use of surveillance video cameras in public transport is increasingly regarded as a solution to control vandalism and emergency situations. The widespread use of cameras brings in the problem of managing high volumes of data, resulting in pressure on people and resources. We illustrate a possible step to automate the monitoring task in the context of a moving train (where popular background removal algorithms will struggle with rapidly changing illumination). We looked at the detection of people in three possible postures: Sat down (on a train seat), Standing and Sitting (half way between sat down and standing). We then use the popular Histogram of Oriented Gradients (HOG) descriptor to train Support Vector Machines to detect people in any of the predefined postures. As a case study, we use the public BOSS dataset. We show different ways of training and combining the classifiers obtaining a sensitivity performance improvement of about 12% when using a combination of three SVM classifiers instead of a global (all classes) classifier, at the expense of an increase of 6% in false positive rate. We believe this is the first set of public results on people detection using the BOSS dataset so that future researchers can use our results as a baseline to improve upon. The work described here was carried out as part of the OBSERVE project funded by the Fondecyt Regular Program of Conicyt (Chilean Research Council for Science and Technology) under grant no. 1140209. Predictive value of CA 125 and CA 72-4 in ovarian borderline tumors
Background: The aim of this study was to assess the prognostic value of cancer antigen (CA) 125 and CA 72-4 in patients with ovarian borderline tumor (BOT). Methods: All women diagnosed and treated for BOT at our institution between 1981 and 2008 were included into this retrospective study (n=101). Preoperatively collected serum samples were analyzed for CA 125 (Architect, Abbott and Elecsys, Roche) and CA 724 (Elecsys, Roche) with reference to clinical data and compared to healthy women (n=109) and ovarian cancer patients (n=130). Results: With a median of 34.7 U/mL (range 18.1-385.0 U/mL) for CA 125 and 2.3 U/mL (range 0.2-277.0 U/mL) for CA 72-4, serum tumor markers in BOT patients were significantly elevated as compared to healthy women with a median CA 125 of 13.5 U/mL (range 4.0-49.7 U/mL) and median CA 72-4 of 0.8 U/mL (range 0.2-20.6 U/mL). In addition, there was a significant difference compared with ovarian cancer patients who showed a median CA 125 of 401.5 U/mL (range 12.5-35,813 U/mL), but no difference was observed for CA 72-4 (median 3.9 U/mL, range 0.3-10,068 U/mL). Patients with a pT1a tumor stage had significantly lower values of CA 125 but not of CA 72-4 compared with individuals with higher tumor stages (median CA 125 29.9 U/mL for pT1a vs. 50.9 U/mL for) pT1a; p=0.014). There was a trend for increased concentrations of CA 125 but not of CA 72-4 in the presence of ascites, endometriosis or peritoneal implants at primary diagnosis. With respect to the prognostic value of CA 125 or CA 72-4, CA 125 was significantly higher at primary diagnosis in patients who later developed recurrence (251.0 U/mL vs. 34.65 U/mL, p=0.012). Conclusions: Serum CA 125 and CA 72-4 concentrations in BOT patients differ from healthy controls and patients with ovarian cancer. CA 125, but not CA 724, at primary diagnosis correlates with tumor stage and tends to be increased in the presence of ascites, endometriosis or peritoneal implants. Moreover, CA 125 at primary diagnosis appears to have prognostic value for recurrence. Clin Chem Lab Med 2009; 47:537-42
Conformal Field Theory Correlators from Classical Field Theory on Anti-de Sitter Space II. Vector and Spinor Fields
We use the AdS/CFT correspondence to calculate CFT correlation functions of
vector and spinor fields. The connection between the AdS and boundary fields is
properly treated via a Dirichlet boundary value problem.Comment: 14 pages, LaTeX2e with amsmath, amsfonts packages; v2:interactions

Holonomy Transformation in the FRW Metric
In this work we investigate loop variables in Friedman-Robertson-Walker
spacetime. We analyze the parallel transport of vectors and spinors in several
paths in this spacetime in order to classify its global properties. The band
holonomy invariance is analysed in this background.Comment: 8 page
Four-Fermi Effective Operators in Top-Quark Production and Decay
Effects of four-Fermi-type new interactions are studied in top-quark pair
production and their subsequent decays at future e^+e^- colliders.
Secondary-lepton-energy distributions are calculated for arbitrary longitudinal
beam polarizations. An optimal-observables procedure is applied for the
determination of new parameters.Comment: Polarized e^- plus unpolarized e^+ collisions were include
Hybrid MM/SVM structural sensors for stochastic sequential data
In this paper we present preliminary results stemming from a novel application of Markov Models and Support Vector Machines to splice site classification of Intron-Exon and Exon-Intron (5' and 3') splice sites. We present the use of Markov based statistical methods, in a log likelihood discriminator framework, to create a non-summed, fixed-length, feature vector for SVM-based classification. We also explore the use of Shannon-entropy based analysis for automated identification of minimal-size models (where smaller models have known information loss according to the specified Shannon entropy representation). We evaluate a variety of kernels and kernel parameters in the classification effort. We present results of the algorithms for splice-site datasets consisting of sequences from a variety of species for comparison
Gravity and Geometric Phases
The behavior of a quantum test particle satisfying the Klein-Gordon equation
in a certain class of 4 dimensional stationary space-times is examined. In a
space-time of a spinning cosmic string, the wave function of a particle in a
box is shown to acquire a geometric phase when the box is transported around a
closed path surrounding the string. When interpreted as an Aharonov-Anandan
geometric phase, the effect is shown to be related to the Aharonov-Bohm effect.Comment: 11 pages, latex fil
Statistical Mechanics of Soft Margin Classifiers
We study the typical learning properties of the recently introduced Soft
Margin Classifiers (SMCs), learning realizable and unrealizable tasks, with the
tools of Statistical Mechanics. We derive analytically the behaviour of the
learning curves in the regime of very large training sets. We obtain
exponential and power laws for the decay of the generalization error towards
the asymptotic value, depending on the task and on general characteristics of
the distribution of stabilities of the patterns to be learned. The optimal
learning curves of the SMCs, which give the minimal generalization error, are
obtained by tuning the coefficient controlling the trade-off between the error
and the regularization terms in the cost function. If the task is realizable by
the SMC, the optimal performance is better than that of a hard margin Support
Vector Machine and is very close to that of a Bayesian classifier.Comment: 26 pages, 12 figures, submitted to Physical Review
Asymptotic Structure of Symmetry Reduced General Relativity
Gravitational waves with a space-translation Killing field are considered. In
this case, the 4-dimensional Einstein vacuum equations are equivalent to the
3-dimensional Einstein equations with certain matter sources. This interplay
between 4- and 3- dimensional general relativity can be exploited effectively
to analyze issues pertaining to 4 dimensions in terms of the 3-dimensional
structures. An example is provided by the asymptotic structure at null
infinity: While these space-times fail to be asymptotically flat in 4
dimensions, they can admit a regular completion at null infinity in 3
dimensions. This completion is used to analyze the asymptotic symmetries,
introduce the analog of the 4-dimensional Bondi energy-momentum and write down
a flux formula.
The analysis is also of interest from a purely 3-dimensional perspective
because it pertains to a diffeomorphism invariant 3-dimensional field theory
with {\it local} degrees of freedom, i.e., to a midi-superspace. Furthermore,
due to certain peculiarities of 3 dimensions, the description of null infinity
does have a number of features that are quite surprising because they do not
arise in the Bondi-Penrose description in 4 dimensions.Comment: 39 Pages, REVTEX, CGPG-96/5-
