Formation of housing structure using spatial game

    No full text
Jej zasady samoorganizują przestrzennie strukturę, gwarantują dostęp jednostek mieszkaniowych do niezbędnej infrastruktury, a mieszkańcom zapewniają możliwość indywidualizacji domostwa i jego elastycznego dopasowania do aktualnych potrzeb. The article presents a spatial game called Cubic parcellation, which was created for the diploma project S’lowtecture: housing structure. The game is an algorithm that allows generating variant housing structures plans and their placement in the urban block. Its rules spatially self-assemble the structure, guarantee housing units access to the necessary infrastructure and residents the opportunity to individualize their houses and its flexibility to adapt to current needs. Cubic parcellation is an attempt to create an algorithm that will be managing the housing structure, which aims to eliminate blockages, conflicts and other negative spatial phenomena. At the same time its task is to leave to the inhabitants as much independence as it is possible while creating housing units. The article is a detailed description of the Cubic parcellation rules and the simulation carried out on a piece of a housing structure

How to Create a Legend? An Analysis of Constructed Representations of Ono no Komachi in Japanese Medieval Literature

Although the historical figure known to us as Ono no Komachi (ca. 825 – ca. 900) is considered to have been a famous and talented female court poet of the Heian Period in Japan, not much is known about her actual life. As a literary figure, however, her fame extended way beyond her own lifetime. Over the centuries she has continued to be an object of legendarization processes. Many literary works pictured her not only as a beautiful and skilled poet but also as femme fatale, courtesan, or Buddhist devotee. However, I believe that whom we currently call “Ono no Komachi” should be considered a literary construct significant for Japanese literature rather than a historical figure. This paper analyzes representations of Ono no Komachi in Japanese medieval literature (nō drama plays, and otogizōshi secular tales), since I believe that the process of “creating” such legends has its origin in the specificity of the Japanese medieval period (12–16th centuries). Thus, the aim of this paper is to address the questions as to why this female poet was subject to legendarization processes and how various stages of those processes are responsible for the popularization of Ono no Komachi's historical image

Enjo-kôsai (compensated dating) in Contemporary Japanese Society as Seen through the Lens of the Play Call Me Komachi

    No full text
The practice of enjo-kôsai (compensated dating) arose in the mid-1990s in Japan. It is a trend where an older, wealthy man sponsors attractive and significantly younger women (often high school girls) for their companionship and sometimes sexual services. Those young girls, by becoming involved in an enjo-kôsai relationship, are trying to make money to purchase brand clothes and accessories. Call Me Komachi (2003) is a play which deals with the enjo-kôsai problem. The main protagonist is a high school girl named Reika, who has an older sponsor. Ono no Komachi, who is mentioned in the title of a play, was a famous Japanese poet of the early Heian Period. Why is a poet from ancient Japan mentioned in the title of a play about a problem of modern Japanese society

Selected Legal Instruments Governing Asylum in the EU Legislation

    No full text
Granting asylum is the competence of every sovereign state. However, members of the European Union have the right to transfer a part of their own powers to the EU, which is reflected in primary legal acts. Nevertheless, granting asylum is not an exclusive right of the EU, but rather a competence shared with all Member States. The EU’s area of freedom, security and justice has been regulated within the framework of the European Union non-exclusive competences, including a common policy in the field of asylum. As part of their remit, the EU authorities issue acts of secondary legislation regarding the institution of asylum, while the Court of Justice of the European Union outlines national practice in case of interpretative difficulties concerning primary and secondary legislation. Finally, the ever-changing social and migration situation, as well as newly emerging secondary legal acts, have caused a rupture in the common asylum policy of EU Member States

Biological and biochemical properties in evaluation of forest soil quality

    No full text
The aim of this study was to assess the possibility of using biological and biochemical parameters in the evaluation of forest soil quality and changes caused by land use. The study attempted to determine a relationship between the enzymatic activity of soil, the number of earthworms and soil physico-chemical properties. The study was carried out in central Poland in adjoining Forest Districts (Przedbórz and Smardzewice). In soil samples taken from 12 research plots, basic physico-chemical properties, enzyme activity (dehydrogenase, urease) and density and biomass of earthworms were examined. Enzyme activity showed a large diversity within the forest site types studied. The correlations between the activity of the enzymes studied and C/N ratio indicated considerable importance of these enzymes in metabolism of essential elements of organic matter of forest soils. Urease and dehydrogenase activity and earthworm number showed susceptibility to soil pH, which confirmed relationships between enzyme activity and abundance of earthworms and soil pH in H2O and KCl

W dżdżownicach metodą absorpcyjnej spektrometrii atomowej (AAS) oznaczano stężenia: Cd, Cu, Mn, Ni, Pb i Zn.The aim of our investigations was assessment of earthworms usefulness in investigations of soil contamination. In our researches the earthworms Dendrobaena veneta (from Earthworms Farm „Ekagro Sp. z o.o.”, Słupsk, PL) and naturally occurring in environment earthworms Lumbricus terrestris were tested. The heavy metal type and exposition time influences on Cd, Pb and Zn concentrations in earthworms organism were investigated. The preliminary biomonitoring researches were conducted in the region of Chmielowice (Opole voivodship, south-western Poland). The concentrations of: Cd, Cu, Fe, Mn, Ni, Pb and Zn were determined in earthworms with atomic absorption spectrometry (AAS)
