Graduate Internship Report- Dinuba High School
This graduate internship report includes the documentation required in meeting the quality criteria for secondary-level programs of instruction in agriculture. The documents are concurrently used for the Agriculture Incentive Grant review process at Dinuba High School conducted by representatives of the California Department of Education. The supporting material includes information to receive state and local funding, outline the goals and objectives of the program, along with an overview of Dinuba High School, the agriculture program and the community
Atwater High School - Teacher Internship Program
This internship/project report includes validation documents required in meeting the quality criteria for secondary-level programs of instruction in agriculture. The documents are concurrently used for the Agriculture Incentive Grant review process at Atwater High School conducted by representatives of the California Department of Education. The curriculum and supporting documents created during the internship validate the science curriculum taught within the Agriculture Department. All curricula was revamped and aligned to both the Next Generation Science Standards and the Common Core Standards
Narrow band amplification of light carrying orbital angular momentum
We report on the amplification of an optical vortex beam carrying orbital
angular momentum via induced narrow Raman gain in an ensemble of cold cesium
atoms. A 20\% single-pass Raman gain of a weak vortex signal field is observed
with a spectral width of order of 1 MHz, much smaller than the natural width,
demonstrating that the amplification process preserves the phase structure of
the vortex beam. The gain is observed in the degenerated two-level system
associated with the hyperfine transition of cesium. Our experimental observations are explained
with a simple theoretical model based on a three-level system
interacting coherently with the weak Laguerre-Gauss field and a strong coupling
field, including an incoherent pumping rate between the two degenerate
ground-states.Comment: 9 pages, 4 figure
The feeding value of green and ensiled São Jorge natural pasture
Special Issue: IVth International Symposium on the Nutrition of Herbivores, Clermont-Ferrand (France), September 11-15, 1995.This paper presents the results of a study of the feeding value of São Jorge pastures in green and in big bale silage
Comparison of three sources of inocula for predicting apparent digestibility of ruminant feedstuffs
Copyright © INRA, EDP Sciences 2001.In the present study, gas production of three sources of inocula rumen liquor from fistulated sheep, rumen liquor from slaughtered cattle, and a suspension of sheep faeces, were evaluated to predict the apparent digestibility of ruminant feedstuffs. The highest gas production was obtained with rumen liquor from slaughtered cattle, and the lowest (P 0.05)
A comparison of incompressible limits for resistive plasmas
The constraint of incompressibility is often used to simplify the
magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) description of linearized plasma dynamics because it
does not affect the ideal MHD marginal stability point. In this paper two
methods for introducing incompressibility are compared in a cylindrical plasma
model: In the first method, the limit is taken, where
is the ratio of specific heats; in the second, an anisotropic mass
tensor is used, with the component parallel to the magnetic
field taken to vanish, . Use of resistive MHD reveals
the nature of these two limits because the Alfv\'en and slow magnetosonic
continua of ideal MHD are converted to point spectra and moved into the complex
plane. Both limits profoundly change the slow-magnetosonic spectrum, but only
the second limit faithfully reproduces the resistive Alfv\'en spectrum and its
wavemodes. In ideal MHD, the slow magnetosonic continuum degenerates to the
Alfv\'en continuum in the first method, while it is moved to infinity by the
second. The degeneracy in the first is broken by finite resistivity. For
numerical and semi-analytical study of these models, we choose plasma
equilibria which cast light on puzzling aspects of results found in earlier
literature.Comment: 14 pages, 10 figure
