    A Note on the Use of Ethnomedicine in Treatment of Diabetes by Mishing Communities

    Ethnomedicinal field survey was conducted in few places of Sonitpur district and near by areas of Lakhimpur district of Assam, where diverse ethnic groups are living since time immemorial. The ethnic groups have very rich tradition of herbal medicines used in the treatment of various ailments. Among the tribal communities, Mishings constitute the largest group along with Bodos. The ethnomedicinal information was collected on the basis of interview and field studies with local healers among those communities. The identification of medicinal plants collected with help of indigenous healers was done. Such medicines have been shown to have significant healing power, either in their natural state or as the source of new products processed by them. Generally these formulations of crude products are considered moderate in efficacy and thus less toxic than most pharmaceutical agents. Our study is mainly concentrated with plants used in relation to cure of diabetes. In our report detail note on the method of preparation of precise dose, the part/parts of plants used and method of application is given. Scientific name, vernacular names and family names of collected plants are also given in the report

    An Investigation of Solving Multidimensional Multiphase Flow: Streamline front tracking method

    In the present paper we have studied streamline front tracking method for two and three-phase flow contains capillary forces. Increased demand for assessment of uncertainties and history matching require fast and accurate flow simulations on multiple plausible geological models on a routinely basis. On the other hand, conventional reservoir simulators fail to fulfill this need, and there seems to be trend within the petroleum industry to simulate reduced sets of equations. Hence, typically streamline or front tracking methods are used to solve the hyperbolic Buckley Leverette equation for two-phase flow. In this paper we consider models of multi-phase flow which do capillary forces, allowing for three phase. In particular we shall investigate a streamline front tracking method and to account for capillary effects we use operator splitting. Thus we compare the streamline front tracking method (SFTM) with a fast marching method (FFM) and a modified method of characteristics (MMOC).     In this paper we studied mathematical models for fluid flow often involve systems of convection-diffusion equations as a main ingredient. Operator splitting - one splits the time evolution into partial steps to separate the effects of convection and diffusion.  In the present paper it has been shown that that the temporal splitting error can be significant when there is a shock present in the solution, is well-understood for scalar convection – diffusion equation.     An analytical approach to Heat Transfer in Single and Multiphase Systems

    This paper deals main physical processes arising during phase change have been investigated. The heat exchange within a single phase, many engineering technologies involve multiphase systems. Hence the problems dealing with phase change is the movement of phase interface with the release with the absorption of latent heat at this interface. The problems are highly nonlinear and thermophysical properties are typically different on each side of the phase interface.  Therefore, analytical solutions are available only for a limited class of one-dimensional problems- pure materials or fluids in infinite or semi-infinite domains.  In the present paper we demonstrate phase change heat transfer in pure liquids and materials as well as multicomponent systems. The multiphase systems have (i.e., solid, liquid, or gas phase) including one or more components. Although the governing equations vary for each type of multiphase system (i.e solid-liquid, liquid-gas, etc.,), the overall features of the physical and mathematical models are analogous. Theses continuum models are based on a mixture formulation or an interface tracking formulation. In the mixture approach, the control volume consists of a homogeneous mixture encompassing both (or all) phases. Mixture of interface tracking formulations are demonstrated in this studies.     Thermal stress impaired expression of insulin-like growth factor binding proteins in pigs

    This study aimed to investigate the correlation of IGFs, IGFBPs, and IGFBPRs of grower pigs with change in temperature humidity index (THI). THI was calculated to know the months of the year when pigs feel discomfort and samples of feed offered were analyzed to know the nutritional availability/deficit. The calculated average THI was above thermal comfort zone for seven months in a year. It was observed that crude protein (CP) and metabolizable energy (ME) availability to pigs were deficient. Gilts of two months age and similar body weight were randomly divided into two groups (n=6); viz. Con-fed animals (feed offered by the farmer) and For-fed animals (formulated feed supplement + Con-fed). The composition of formulated feed supplement was dried leaf of Moringa oleifera, soybean meal, rice mill waste, and mineral mixture. The plasma cortisol level increased in the experimental animals with accelerated THI as evidenced by the strong positive correlation of THI with HSP70 and HSP90. The level of leptin and ghrelin did not have significant relation with the expression level of HSPs in the present study, however, in the control animals, a low level of leptin was observed. The correlation between the growth factors and HSPs was not significant. During the season, where the THI was above the thermal comfort zone, the IGFBPR and IGFBP concentrations were non-significantly increased along with the increased THI

    Grand unification in the minimal left-right symmetric extension of the standard model

    The simplest minimal left-right symmetric extension of the standard model is studied in the high energy limit, and some consequences of the grand unification hypothesis are explored assuming that the parity breaking scale is the only relevant energy between the electro-weak scale and the unification point. While the model is shown to be compatible with the observed neutrino phenomenology, the parity breaking scale and the heavy boson masses are predicted to be above 10^7 TeV, quite far from the reach of nowadays experiments. Below that scale only an almost sterile right handed neutrino is allowed with a mass M \approx 100 TeV
