Management models in difficult situations : the interpretive perspective
The methodological basis for the referred research is the Interpretive approach, which is already well-established in management studies. The purpose f interpretive research is to understand how members of groups, by participating in social processes, establish certain realities and give them meaning, and also show how these meanings, beliefs, and intentions help in working out the social behaviors of the group members. The main objective of the research undertaken by the author is to explore the complex relations between management of a tourist enterprise in a crisis situation and organizational learning. This article describes one of the stages of the research
Zmiana trenera piłki nożnej : krótkoterminowy wpływ na wyniki sportowe
Wynik sportowy to jeden z najważniejszych aspektów funkcjonowania klubów piłkarskich, a niezadowalający poziom wyników często owocuje zwolnieniem trenera. Sporting performance is undoubtedly one of the key aspects of the way in which professional clubs operate. Insufficient results often result in coach turnover. The initial motivation to replace the coach suggests that improvement should come after the change. This paper aims at determining how the rotation on the coach position influences football clubs’ short-term sporting performance. The material for analysis consists of ten games before and ten games after each coach replacement in Premier League and La Liga in the past three seasons from 2018 to 2021. A statistical analysis is conducted to determine and highlight the difference in performance in respective time frames before and after the turnover. The analysis helped to understand that coach replacement does in fact come with a performance booster in most cases – the teams generally benefit short-term. Drawing conclusions from the analysis, it needs to be noted that this positive effect quickly wears off. Eventually, however, accumulated data is an indicator that the shock-therapy, which coach turnover is, works. When the performance regresses, rotation on coaches’ chair should be considered as a possible solution
Developing situation awareness capacity to improve executive judgment and decision making under stress
This study examined multiple factors that underlie a key component of leadership resilience, situation awareness (SA), and its role in executive judgment and decision making under stress. SA, researched for over 30 years in military and critical incident professions by researchers from the field of Naturalistic Decision Making (NDM), has increasing relevance to leaders in organizations, particularly those who are challenged by high uncertainty and accelerating change, traditionally addressed by the field of organization development (OD). The study specifically examines the Transcendental MeditationTM technique within the context of a 10-week intervention for developing SA capacity in emerging leaders (N = 35), for which pre- and post-data were collected and analyzed. The research approach involved an intervention group (n = 18) trained in the twice-daily practice of the Transcendental MeditationTM technique and a control group (n = 17) with no intervention. Participants in both groups completed three instruments, Trail Making B, Wisconsin Card Sort Test, and Constructive Thinking Inventory, as a means to measure the three elements of SA (perception, comprehension, projection). Analyses of covariance (ANCOVA) showed that TM practice produced significant effects (p levels ranged from .033 to .047) on two of the three measures, specifically, perception and projection. The results of the study support a positive relationship between the Transcendental Meditation technique on the improvement of SA capacity in emerging leaders, and advances the body of research on the use of meditation as an intervention in leadership resilience development programs to prepare leaders for high-demand settings

Changes in human capital as a result of organizational learning
The aim of the paper is to determine premises for the analysis of the relationship between human capital in an enterprise and organizational learning. The paper presents selected conceptualizations of these phenomena. Valuable human capital is the one that enables a company to implement strategies improving organizational performance and economic efficiency; and use market opportunity or neutralize potential threats. Organizational learning plays a major role in forming human capital. It is a medium to acquire competencies which are a source of competitive advantage. A learning process within a company can prove crucial to its survival. Based on the study of theory; dimensions of human capital and organizational learning may be proposed. The featured dimensions constitute the research field for the analysis of the relationship between them
The idea of open science and the concept of organizational learning
Otwartość nauki oznacza zapewnienie swobodnego dostępu do ostatecznego rezultatu prac badawczych, a także stosowanie otwartych modeli w innych obszarach pracy naukowej. The openness of science is to ensure free access to the ultimate outcome of research and the use of open models in other areas of scientific work. The article pointed out the possibility of using the concept of organizational learning in shaping openness. Learning of an organization is a complex and multi-level phenomenon. Expanding the boundaries of organizational learning is promoted by networking of information with other entities. Reinforcing learning within the open science may include its types proposed by E. Stern
Information Diffusion Power of Political Party Twitter Accounts During Japan's 2017 Election
In modern election campaigns, political parties utilize social media to
advertise their policies and candidates and to communicate to electorates. In
Japan's latest general election in 2017, the 48th general election for the
Lower House, social media, especially Twitter, was actively used. In this
paper, we perform a detailed analysis of social graphs and users who retweeted
tweets of political parties during the election. Our aim is to obtain accurate
information regarding the diffusion power for each party rather than just the
number of followers. The results indicate that a user following a user who
follows a political party account tended to also follow the account. This means
that it does not increase diversity because users who follow each other tend to
share similar values. We also find that followers of a specific party
frequently retweeted the tweets. However, since users following the user who
follow a political party account are not diverse, political parties delivered
the information only to a few political detachment users.Comment: The 10th International Conference on Social Informatics (SocInfo
