    Concordância entre dois instrumentos para avaliação do letramento em saúde

    Objective: To determine the agreement between short test of functional health literacy in adults (S-TOFHLA) and short assessment of health literacy for Portuguese-speaking adults (SAHLPA-18) measurement instruments as a strategy to estimate concurrent validity. Methods: Cross-sectional study conducted with users of the Unified Health System. To test concurrent validity, an agreement approach with a weighted Kappa test for qualitative data was applied. Results: 372 individuals participated. It was found that 66% and 62% of these did not have an adequate level of literacy through SAHLPA-18 and S-TOFHLA, respectively. There was a strong correlation between the instruments (p<0.001; r=0.60), however 65.3% agreement, considered weak (Kappa=0.35; p<0.001). Conclusion: SAHLPA-18 and S-TOFHLA instruments have different constructs and poor agreement. The use of different instruments is indicated in research to measure the level of literacy and the development of instruments specific to health conditions that allow obtaining results close to the real context of individuals.Objetivo: Determinar a concordância entre os instrumentos de mensuração short test of functional health literacy in adults (S-TOFHLA) e short assessment of health literacy for Portuguese-speaking adults (SAHLPA-18) como estratégia para estimar a validade concorrente. Métodos: Estudo transversal, com usuários do Sistema Único de Saúde. Para testar a validade concorrente, aplicou-se abordagem de concordância com teste de Kappa ponderado para dados qualitativos. Resultados: Participaram 372 indivíduos, dos quais 66% e 62% não apresentaram nível de letramento adequado, segundo o SAHLPA-18 e o S-TOFHLA respectivamente. Observou-se correlação forte entre os instrumentos (p<0,001; r=0,60); entretanto, a concordância encontrada, 65,3% (Kappa=0,35; p<0,001), foi considerada fraca. Conclusão: Os instrumentos SAHLPA-18 e S-TOFHLA apresentam constructos diferentes e fraca concordância. É indicado o uso de diferentes instrumentos em pesquisas de mensuração do nível de letramento; e o desenvolvimento de instrumentos específicos às condições de saúde presentes, que permitam obter resultados próximos ao real contexto dos indivíduos

    Prevalence and Factors Associated with Leishmania infantum Infection of Dogs from an Urban Area of Brazil as Identified by Molecular Methods

    Visceral leishmaniasis (VL) is a disease caused by the parasite Leishmania infantum, and dogs are the most important domestic reservoirs of the agent. During recent decades, VL has expanded to large Brazilian urban centers. In the present work, we have demonstrated by using molecular techniques that the rate of canine infection as detected by serology has been considerably underestimated. Two groups of seronegative dogs (infected and non-infected according to molecular methods) were further evaluated from data obtained through interviews with owners of the animals. The factors associated with Leishmania infection in dogs were a family income of less than two minimum salaries, the knowledge of the owner regarding the vector, the dog spending most of its time in the backyard and the dog never having had a previous serological examination. Awareness regarding the factors associated with canine infection will improve health services and the understanding of the disease's expansion in urban areas

    Women, who represent approximately half of the global population according to estimates as of January 2024, may experience signs and symptoms of menopause for at least one-third of their lives, during which they have a higher risk of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. The effects of menopausal hormone therapy (MHT) on the progression of atherosclerosis and cardiovascular disease (CVD) events vary depending on the age at which MHT is initiated and the time since menopause until its initiation. Beneficial effects on CVD outcomes and all-cause mortality have been observed when MHT was initiated before the age of 60 or within 10 years after menopause. The decision regarding the initiation, dose, regimen, and duration of MHT should be made individually after discussing the benefits and risks with each patient. For primary prevention of postmenopausal chronic conditions, the combined use of estrogen and progestogen is not recommended in asymptomatic women, nor is the use of estrogen alone in hysterectomized women. Hormone-dependent neoplasms contraindicate MHT. For the treatment of genitourinary syndrome of menopause, vaginal estrogen therapy may be used in patients with known cardiovascular risk factors or established CVD. For women with contraindications to MHT or who refuse it, non-hormonal therapies with proven efficacy (antidepressants, gabapentin, and fezolinetant) may improve vasomotor symptoms. Compounded hormonal implants, or "bioidentical" and "compounded" hormones, and "hormone modulation" are not recommended due to lack of scientific evidence of their effectiveness and safety.Mujeres, que representan aproximadamente la mitad de la población mundial según estimaciones de enero de 2024, pueden experimentar signos y síntomas de la menopausia durante al menos un tercio de sus vidas, durante los cuales tienen un mayor riesgo de morbilidad y mortalidad cardiovascular. Los efectos de la terapia hormonal de la menopausia (THM) en la progresión de la aterosclerosis y los eventos de enfermedad cardiovascular (ECV) varían según la edad en que se inicia la THM y el tiempo transcurrido desde la menopausia hasta su inicio. Se han observado efectos beneficiosos en los resultados de ECV y la mortalidad por todas las causas cuando la THM se inició antes de los 60 años o dentro de los 10 años posteriores a la menopausia. La decisión sobre la iniciación, dosis, régimen y duración de la THM debe tomarse individualmente después de discutir los beneficios y riesgos con cada paciente. Para la prevención primaria de condiciones crónicas en la posmenopausia, no se recomienda el uso combinado de estrógeno y progestágeno en mujeres asintomáticas, ni el uso de estrógeno solo en mujeres histerectomizadas. Las neoplasias dependientes de hormonas contraindican la THM. Para el tratamiento del síndrome genitourinario de la menopausia, se puede usar terapia estrogénica vaginal en pacientes con factores de riesgo cardiovascular conocidos o ECV establecida. Para mujeres con contraindicaciones a la THM o que la rechazan, las terapias no hormonales con eficacia demostrada (antidepresivos, gabapentina y fezolinetant) pueden mejorar los síntomas vasomotores. Los implantes hormonales compuestos, o hormonas "bioidénticas" y "compuestas", y la "modulación hormonal" no se recomiendan debido a la falta de evidencia científica sobre su efectividad y seguridad.As mulheres, que representam cerca de metade da população mundial segundo estimativas de janeiro de 2024, podem sofrer com sinais e sintomas da menopausa durante pelo menos um terço de suas vidas, quando apresentam maiores risco e morbimortalidade cardiovasculares.     Study of the rare B-s(0) and B-0 decays into the pi(+) pi(-) mu(+) mu(-) final state

    A search for the rare decays Bs0π+πμ+μB_s^0 \to \pi^+\pi^-\mu^+\mu^- and B0π+πμ+μB^0 \to \pi^+\pi^-\mu^+\mu^- is performed in a data set corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb1^{-1} collected by the LHCb detector in proton-proton collisions at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV. Decay candidates with pion pairs that have invariant mass in the range 0.5-1.3 GeV/c2c^2 and with muon pairs that do not originate from a resonance are considered. The first observation of the decay Bs0π+πμ+μB_s^0 \to \pi^+\pi^-\mu^+\mu^- and the first evidence of the decay B0π+πμ+μB^0 \to \pi^+\pi^-\mu^+\mu^- are obtained and the branching fractions are measured to be B(Bs0π+πμ+μ)=(8.6±1.5(stat)±0.7(syst)±0.7(norm))×108\mathcal{B}(B_s^0 \to \pi^+\pi^-\mu^+\mu^-)=(8.6\pm 1.5\,({\rm stat}) \pm 0.7\,({\rm syst})\pm 0.7\,({\rm norm}))\times 10^{-8} and B(B0π+πμ+μ)=(2.11±0.51(stat)±0.15(syst)±0.16(norm))×108\mathcal{B}(B^0 \to \pi^+\pi^-\mu^+\mu^-)=(2.11\pm 0.51\,({\rm stat}) \pm 0.15\,({\rm syst})\pm 0.16\,({\rm norm}) )\times 10^{-8}, where the third uncertainty is due to the branching fraction of the decay B0J/ψ(μ+μ)K(890)0(K+π)B^0\to J/\psi(\to \mu^+\mu^-)K^*(890)^0(\to K^+\pi^-), used as a normalisation.A search for the rare decays Bs0→π+π−μ+μ− and B0→π+π−μ+μ− is performed in a data set corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb−1 collected by the LHCb detector in proton–proton collisions at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV .     Observation of the B0 → ρ0ρ0 decay from an amplitude analysis of B0 → (π+π−)(π+π−) decays

    Proton–proton collision data recorded in 2011 and 2012 by the LHCb experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb−1 , are analysed to search for the charmless B0→ρ0ρ0 decay. More than 600 B0→(π+π−)(π+π−) signal decays are selected and used to perform an amplitude analysis, under the assumption of no CP violation in the decay, from which the B0→ρ0ρ0 decay is observed for the first time with 7.1 standard deviations significance. The fraction of B0→ρ0ρ0 decays yielding a longitudinally polarised final state is measured to be fL=0.745−0.058+0.048(stat)±0.034(syst) . The B0→ρ0ρ0 branching fraction, using the B0→ϕK⁎(892)0 decay as reference, is also reported as B(B0→ρ0ρ0)=(0.94±0.17(stat)±0.09(syst)±0.06(BF))×10−6

    Angular analysis of the B-0 -> K*(0) e(+) e(-) decay in the low-q(2) region

    An angular analysis of the B0K0e+eB^0 \rightarrow K^{*0} e^+ e^- decay is performed using a data sample, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 {\mbox{fb}^{-1}}, collected by the LHCb experiment in pppp collisions at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV during 2011 and 2012. For the first time several observables are measured in the dielectron mass squared (q2q^2) interval between 0.002 and 1.120GeV2 ⁣/c4{\mathrm{\,Ge\kern -0.1em V^2\!/}c^4}. The angular observables FLF_{\mathrm{L}} and ATReA_{\mathrm{T}}^{\mathrm{Re}} which are related to the K0K^{*0} polarisation and to the lepton forward-backward asymmetry, are measured to be FL=0.16±0.06±0.03F_{\mathrm{L}}= 0.16 \pm 0.06 \pm0.03 and ATRe=0.10±0.18±0.05A_{\mathrm{T}}^{\mathrm{Re}} = 0.10 \pm 0.18 \pm 0.05, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. The angular observables AT(2)A_{\mathrm{T}}^{(2)} and ATImA_{\mathrm{T}}^{\mathrm{Im}} which are sensitive to the photon polarisation in this q2q^2 range, are found to be AT(2)=0.23±0.23±0.05A_{\mathrm{T}}^{(2)} = -0.23 \pm 0.23 \pm 0.05 and ATIm=0.14±0.22±0.05A_{\mathrm{T}}^{\mathrm{Im}} =0.14 \pm 0.22 \pm 0.05.     Measurement of the Z plus b-jet cross-section in pp collisions at root s=7 TeV in the forward region

    The associated production of a Z boson or an off-shell photon γ\gamma^* with a bottom quark in the forward region is studied using proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 7TeV7{\mathrm{\,Te\kern -0.1em V}}. The Z bosons are reconstructed in the Z/γμ+μ{\text{Z}/\gamma^*}\rightarrow{\mu^{+}\mu^{-}} final state from muons with a transverse momentum larger than 20GeV20{\mathrm{\,Ge\kern -0.1em V}}, while two transverse momentum thresholds are considered for jets (10GeV10{\mathrm{\,Ge\kern -0.1em V}} and 20GeV20{\mathrm{\,Ge\kern -0.1em V}}). Both muons and jets are reconstructed in the pseudorapidity range 2.010GeV2.0 10{\mathrm{\,Ge\kern -0.1em V}}, and \sigma(\text{\text{Z}/\gamma^*(\mu^{+}\mu^{-})+b-jet}) = 167 \pm 47 (\text{stat}) \pm 29 (\text{syst}) \pm 6 (\text{lumi}) {\,{fb}} for {p_{\rm T}}(jet)>20GeV>20{\mathrm{\,Ge\kern -0.1em V}}

    Precise measurements of the properties of the B-1(5721)(0,+) and B-2*(5747)(0,+) states and observation of B-+,B-0 pi(-,+) mass structures

    Invariant mass distributions of B+πB^+\pi^- and B0π+B^0\pi^+ combinations are investigated in order to study excited B mesons. The analysis is based on a data sample corresponding to 3.0fb13.0 fb^{-1} of pppp collision data, recorded by the LHCb detector at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV. Precise measurements of the masses and widths of the B1(5721)0,+B_1(5721)^{0,+} and B2(5747)0,+B_2^*(5747)^{0,+} states are reported. Clear enhancements, particularly prominent at high pion transverse momentum, are seen over background in the mass range 58505850-60006000 MeV in both B+πB^+\pi^- and B0π+B^0\pi^+ combinations. The structures are consistent with the presence of four excited B mesons, labelled BJ(5840)0,+B_J(5840)^{0,+} and BJ(5960)0,+B_J(5960)^{0,+}, whose masses and widths are obtained under different hypotheses for their quantum numbers.Invariant mass distributions of B+^{+} π^{−} and B0^{0} π+^{+} combinations are investigated in order to study excited B mesons.     Measurement of the lifetime of the Bc+B_c^+ meson using the Bc+J/ψπ+B_c^+\rightarrow J/\psi\pi^+ decay mode

    The difference in total widths between the Bc+B_c^+ and B+B^+ mesons is measured using 3.0fb1^{-1} of data collected by the LHCb experiment in 7 and 8 TeV centre-of-mass energy proton-proton collisions at the LHC. Through the study of the time evolution of Bc+J/ψπ+B_c^+ \rightarrow J/\psi \pi^+ and B+J/ψK+B^+\rightarrow J/\psi K^+ decays, the width difference is measured to be ΔΓΓBc+ΓB+=4.46±0.14±0.07mm1c, \Delta\Gamma \equiv \Gamma_{B_c^+} - \Gamma_{B^+} = 4.46 \pm 0.14 \pm 0.07mm^{-1}c, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. The known lifetime of the B+B^+ meson is used to convert this to a precise measurement of the Bc+B_c^+ lifetime, τBc+=513.4±11.0±5.7fs,\tau_{B_c^+} = 513.4 \pm 11.0 \pm 5.7fs, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic.The difference in total widths between the B+ c and B+ mesons is measured using 3.0 fb−1 of data collected by the LHCb experiment in 7 and 8 TeV centre-of-mass energy proton-proton collisions at the LHC. Through the study of the time evolution of Bc+→J/ψπ+ and B+→J/ψK+ decays, the width difference is measured to be ΔΓ≡ΓBc+−ΓB+=4.46±0.14±0.07 mm−1c, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. The known lifetime of the B+ meson is used to convert this to a precise measurement of the Bc+ lifetime, τBc+=513.4±11.0±5.7 fs, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic.The difference in total widths between the Bc+ and B+ mesons is measured using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb−1 collected by the LHCb experiment in 7 and 8 TeV centre-of-mass energy proton–proton collisions at the LHC.     Measurement of CPCP asymmetries and polarisation fractions in Bs0K0Kˉ0B_s^0 \rightarrow K^{*0}\bar{K}{}^{*0} decays

    An angular analysis of the decay Bs0K0K0B_s^0 \rightarrow K^{*0}\overline{K}{}^{*0} is performed using pppp collisions corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.01.0 fb1{fb}^{-1} collected by the LHCb experiment at a centre-of-mass energy s=7\sqrt{s} = 7 TeV. A combined angular and mass analysis separates six helicity amplitudes and allows the measurement of the longitudinal polarisation fraction fL=0.201±0.057(stat.)±0.040(syst.)f_L = 0.201 \pm 0.057 {(stat.)} \pm 0.040{(syst.)} for the Bs0K(892)0K(892)0B_s^0 \rightarrow K^*(892)^0 \overline{K}{}^*(892)^0 decay. A large scalar contribution from the K0(1430)K^{*}_{0}(1430) and K0(800)K^{*}_{0}(800) resonances is found, allowing the determination of additional CPCP asymmetries. Triple product and direct CPCP asymmetries are determined to be compatible with the Standard Model expectations. The branching fraction B(Bs0K(892)0K(892)0)\mathcal{B}(B_s^0 \rightarrow K^*(892)^0 \overline{K}^*(892)^0) is measured to be (10.8±2.1(stat.)±1.4(syst.)±0.6(fd/fs))×106(10.8 \pm 2.1 {(stat.)} \pm 1.4 {(syst.)} \pm 0.6 (f_d/f_s) ) \times 10^{-6}
