Regression methods for analyzing the risk factors for a life style disease among the young population of India
AbstractBackgroundWith modernization, rapid urbanization and industrialization, the price that the society is paying is tremendous load of āNon-Communicableā diseases, referred to as āLifestyle Diseasesā. Coronary artery disease (CAD), one of the lifestyle diseases that manifests at a younger age can have divesting consequences for an individual, the family and society. Prevention of these diseases can be done by studying the risk factors, analyzing and interpreting them using various statistical methods.ObjectiveTo determine, using logistic regression the relative contribution of independent variables according to the intensity of their influence (proven by statistical significance) upon the occurrence of values of the dependent cardio vascular risk scores. Additionally, we wanted to assess whether non parametric smoothing of the cardio vascular risk scores can be used as a better statistical method as compared to the existing methods.Materials and methodsThe study includes 498 students in the age group of 18ā29 years.FindingsPrevalence of over weight (BMI 23ā25Ā kg/m2) and obesity (BMIĀ >Ā 25Ā Kg/m2) was found among individuals of 22 years and above. Non smokers had decreased odds (ORĀ =Ā 0.041, CIĀ =Ā 0.015ā0.107) and also increase in LDL Cholesterol (ORĀ =Ā 1.05, CIĀ =Ā 1.021ā1.055) and BMI (ORĀ =Ā 1.42, CIĀ =Ā 1.244ā1.631) were significantly contributing towards the risk of CVD. Localite students had decreased odds of developing CVD in the next 10 years (ORĀ =Ā 0.27, CIĀ =Ā 0.092ā0.799) as compared to students residing in hostel or paying guests

Towards Optimal Copyright Protection Using Neural Networks Based Digital Image Watermarking
In the field of digital watermarking, digital image watermarking for copyright protection has attracted a lot of attention in the research community. Digital watermarking contains varies techniques for protecting the digital content. Among all those techniques,Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) provides higher image imperceptibility and robustness. Over the years, researchers have been designing watermarking techniques with robustness in mind, in order for the watermark to be resistant against any image processing techniques. Furthermore, the requirements of a good watermarking technique includes a tradeoff between robustness, image quality (imperceptibility) and capacity. In this paper, we have done an extensive literature review for the existing DWT techniques and those combined with other techniques such as Neural Networks. In addition to that, we have discuss the contribution of Neural Networks in copyright protection. Finally we reached our goal in which we identified the research gaps existed in the current watermarking schemes. So that, it will be easily to obtain an optimal techniques to make the watermark object robust to attacks while maintaining the imperceptibility to enhance the copyright protection
Anticonvulsant drugs and women with seizures
The incidence of congenital anomalies in children born to mothers under anticonvulsant
therapy has been studied, in 2536 women who gave birth to 3348 children. The follow up period
varied between 3 to 20 years. The mothers had received barbiturates, hydantoinates and
carbamezapine in various combinations. The incidence of congenital anomalies noted was only
41, a figure not greater than the incidence ofanomalies in the general population. A plea is made
that anticonvulsant therapy should not be discontinued during pregnancy in women with
seizures
Infatuation and love of an adolescent girl: Dynamics of parent child relationship
Background: Increased interest in romantic relationship (RR) is central to adolescentsā lives. RR has a significant influence on the emotional well-being of the adolescents and their future life. Objective: The present study aims at understanding the issues and concerns of adolescent girls in RR who come under care and protection issue. Methods: The study adopts a retrospective exploratory research design and analyzed the case reports maintained by psychiatric social workers. Reports elicit the information about the RR, marriage with the romantic partner, reason for run away with the marital partner, etc. Results: Majority of the adolescents run away with their romantic partner to get married and more than three-fourth of the adolescent girls believed that having sexual intercourse with their romantic partner would get their marriage approval and felt that marriage gave them sanction for the sexual relationship. Adolescents were worried about parentās rejection of their romantic partner and had guilt feeling that they were not able to meet the expectations of parents nor they were able to fulfill the dreams of their parents. Most of the adolescents were also aware that their romantic involvement has been one of the reasons for academic decline; some have to drop out from the schools. Conclusion: It is important to understand the issues of adolescent girls in RR so that it would help us in designing interventions to facilitate developmental needs and for the healthy transition to adulthood
Design of AMBA AXI4 protocol for System-on-Chip communication
Advanced microcontroller bus architecture (AMBA) protocol family provides metric-driven verification of protocol compliance, enabling comprehensive testing of interface intellectual property (IP) blocks and system-on-chip (SoC) designs. The AMBA advanced extensible interface 4 (AXI4) update to AMBA AXI3 includes the following: support for burst lengths up to 256 beats, updated write response requirements, removal of locked transactions and AXI4 also includes information on the interoperability of components. AMBA AXI4 protocol system supports 16 masters and 16 slaves interfacing. This paper presents a work aimed to design the AMBA AXI4 protocol modeled in Verilog hardware description language (HDL) and simulation results for read and write operation of data and address are shown in Verilog compiler simulator (VCS) tool. The operating frequency is set to 100MHz. Two test cases are run to perform multiple read and multiple write operations. To perform single read operation module takes 160ns and for single write operation it takes 565ns
Effectiveness of hand and foot massage on pain among post caesarean mothers at selected hospitals, Salem
āA Study was conducted to Evaluate the Effectiveness of Hand and Foot Massage on Pain among Post caesarean mothers at Selected Hospitals, Salemā.
Quasi experimental pre test post test control group design was adopted. Non probability purposive sampling technique was used to select 60 post caesarean mothers among which 30 were assigned to experimental group and 30 were assigned to control group. The data was collected using structured interview schedule. Pre test was done for both experimental and control group by using Numerical pain intensity scale. Hand and Foot Massage was given for the experimental group for 20 minutes two times a day at 4hrs for first two days (morning and evening) and withheld for control group. Post test was done for both experimental and control group by using the same scale. The study findings showed that in experimental group, 14 (46.67%) of the post caesarean mothers belong to the age group of 26-30 and 12 (40%) of them belong to the age group of 21-25 years in control group 14 (46.66%) of them belong to the age group of 21-25 years. In experimental group, 15 (50%) had completed higher secondary education and in control group 12 (40%) had higher secondary education. In experimental group, 23 (76.67%) of them were unemployed, whereas in control group 20 (66.67%) of them were unemployed. In experimental group 24 (80%) were multi gravid, whereas in control group 17 (56.67%) were multi gravid. In experimental group 24 (80%) had previous history of caesarean section and in control group 15 (50%) had history of both.
The mean pre test score in experimental group was 6.4Ā±0.56 and mean post test score was 3.5Ā±0.79. The ātā value was 33.72 which is significant at pā¤0.05 level. Hence H1 was retained at pā¤0.05 level. The mean score in experimental group was 3.5Ā±0.79 and mean score in control group was 6.1Ā±0.65. The ātā value was 15.66 which was significant at pā¤0.05 level. Hence H2 was retained at pā¤0.05 level. There was a significant association between educational status and pain among post caesarean mothers in experimental group. Hence H3 was retained at pā¤0.05 level. There was no significant association between demographic variables and pain among post caesarean mothers in control group. Hence H3 was rejected at pā„0.05 level. Hence Hand and Foot Massage is one of the alternative and complementary therapies, which is simple, safe and cost effective and found to be effective in reducing pain after caesarean section and also promotes psychological wellbeing of the mother
Successful term pregnancy post laparoscopic management of thick perforate upper transverse vaginal septum
A 30-year-old woman presented with dyspareunia and infertility and was referred to after failure to visualize cervix during diagnostic laparoscopy by her primary consultant. Preoperative MRI was done which showed mild arcuate uterus with minimum fluid in vaginal cavity with vertical vaginal septum. This was managed successfully by a combined laparoscopic and vaginal approach. She conceived spontaneously and delivered a healthy term baby by caesarean section. Upper thick Transverse Vaginal Septum is a complex congenital malformation posing challenges for its correction, restoring normal healthy sex life and conception. The septum varies in thickness and may be located anywhere along the vagina reducing the functional length of the vagina.Ā Identifying and dissecting the anatomic structures is greatly aided by panoramic view of laparoscope allowing the surgeon to have an increased degree of freedom during surgery
