Parity Nonconservation in Odd-isotopes of Single Trapped Atomic Ions
We have estimated the size of the light-shifts due to parity nonconservation
(PNC) interactions in different isotopes of Ba+ and Ra+ ions based on the work
of Fortson [Phys. Rev. Lett. 70, 2383 (1993)]. We have used the nuclear spin
independent (NSI) amplitudes calculated earlier by us [Phys. Rev. Lett. 96,
163003 (2006); Phys. Rev. A 78, 050501(R) (2008)] and we have employed the
third order many-body perturbation theory (MBPT(3)) in this work to estimate
the nuclear spin dependent (NSD) amplitudes in these ions. Ra+ is found to be
more favourable than Ba+ for measuring both the NSI and NSD PNC observables.Comment: 5 pages, 1 tabl
Theoretical spectroscopic studies of the atomic transitions and lifetimes of low-lying states in Ti IV
The astrophysically important electric quadrupole (E2) and magnetic dipole
(M1) transitions for the low-lying states of triply ionized titanium (Ti IV)
are calculated very accurately using a state-of-art all-order many-body theory
called Coupled Cluster (CC) theory in the relativistic frame-work. Different
many-body correlations of the CC theory has been estimated by studying the core
and valence electron excitations to the unoccupied states. The calculated
excitation energies of different states are in very good agreement with the
measurements. Also we compare our calculated electric dipole (E1) transition
amplitudes of few transitions with recent many-body calculations by different
groups. We have also carried out the calculations for the lifetimes of the
low-lying states of Ti IV. A long lifetime is found for the first excited
3d state, which suggested that Ti IV may be one of the useful
candidates for many important studies. Most of the results reported here are

Spin dynamics and frequency dependence of magnetic damping study in soft ferromagnetic FeTaC film with a stripe domain structure
Perpendicular magnetic anisotropy (PMA) and low magnetic damping are the key
factors for the free layer magnetization switching by spin transfer torque
technique in magnetic tunnel junction devices. The magnetization precessional
dynamics in soft ferromagnetic FeTaC thin film with a stripe domain structure
was explored in broad band frequency range by employing micro-strip
ferromagnetic resonance technique. The polar angular variation of resonance
field and linewidth at different frequencies have been analyzed numerically
using Landau-Lifshitz-Gilbert equation by taking into account the total free
energy density of the film. The numerically estimated parameters Land\'{e}
-factor, PMA constant, and effective magnetization are found to be 2.1,
2 erg/cm and 7145 Oe, respectively. The frequency
dependence of Gilbert damping parameter () is evaluated by considering
both intrinsic and extrinsic effects into the total linewidth analysis. The
value of is found to be 0.006 at 10 GHz and it increases with

Relating Gribov-Zwanziger theory to effective Yang-Mills theory
We consider the Gribov-Zwanziger (GZ) theory with appropriate horizon term
which exhibits the nilpotent BRST invariance. This infinitesimal BRST
transformation has been generalized by allowing the parameter to be finite and
field dependent (FFBRST). By constructing appropriate finite field dependent
parameter we show that the generating functional of GZ theory with horizon term

Distinguishing Posed and Spontaneous Smiles by Facial Dynamics
Smile is one of the key elements in identifying emotions and present state of
mind of an individual. In this work, we propose a cluster of approaches to
classify posed and spontaneous smiles using deep convolutional neural network
(CNN) face features, local phase quantization (LPQ), dense optical flow and
histogram of gradient (HOG). Eulerian Video Magnification (EVM) is used for
micro-expression smile amplification along with three normalization procedures
for distinguishing posed and spontaneous smiles. Although the deep CNN face
model is trained with large number of face images, HOG features outperforms
this model for overall face smile classification task. Using EVM to amplify
micro-expressions did not have a significant impact on classification accuracy,
while the normalizing facial features improved classification accuracy. Unlike
many manual or semi-automatic methodologies, our approach aims to automatically
classify all smiles into either `spontaneous' or `posed' categories, by using
support vector machines (SVM). Experimental results on large UvA-NEMO smile

A Maternal Death due to an Unsafe Abortion in Rural Nepal - A Case Report
Background: Abortion was illegal before 2002 A.D. in Nepal and was legalized under the 11th amendment to the Country Code (Muluki Ain) in March 2002, receiving royal assent in September 2002. Nepal Government began providing comprehensive abortion care services from March 2004 after 18 months of legalization of abortion, when the government issued Safe Abortion Service Procedure. The maternal mortality ratio in Nepal is among the highest in South Asia. Unsafe abortion is defined as an induced abortion process either conducted by less skilled personnel or performed in a non-accredited facility. Though abortion has been legal in Nepal for more than 14 years now; physicians in Nepal still face problems of abortions done by less qualified personnel.Case Report: We report a fatal case of unsafe abortion in a 32 year old lady whose cause of death was ascertained as irreversible septic shock due to septic abortion.Conclusion: Prompt diagnosis and appropriate intervention might provide better outcome in these types of cases. Therefore, we stress the importance of safe abortion services provided by skilled personnel at rural areas in developing countries and of early referral in case complication arises so that the life of the patient is not endangered
Nonlinear Effects and Multisolitons in Metamaterials
AbstractIn this paper, we outline a novel class of materials, called metamaterials, with negative refractive index and a high degree of nonlinearity. A brief summary is given on the basic theory of optics to show how this condition arrives for metamaterials to be designed into an antenna with split-ring-resonator (SRR). An example is given on the modeling of such SRR-based metamaterials. On a continuum Hamiltonian, a Klein-Gordon equation was derived which gave rise to both dark and bright solitons that showed interesting behavior against nondimensional time, even to the extent of revealing bi- and tri-breathers
