Semiconductors can be tested without removing them from circuitry

    Get PDF
Oscilloscope, with specially developed test circuitry, quickly checks semiconductors without removing them from the circuitry. For transistors, approximate gain and linearity, as well as PNP or NPN determinations are made. When testing diodes, open or short circuits, and reverse polarity show up plainly

Nonhazardous citric acid solution used with 24 volt dc power supply etches weld samples. This etching method is limited to 300 stainless steel and a small range of other high temperature alloys

Spinor two-point functions in maximally symmetric spaces

    Get PDF
The two-point function for spinors on maximally symmetric four-dimensional spaces is obtained in terms of intrinsic geometric objects. In the massless case, Weyl spinors in anti de Sitter space can not satisfy boundary conditions appropriate to the supersymmetric models. This is because these boundary conditions break chiral symmetry, which is proven by showing that the ldquoorder parameterrdquo ψˉψ\left\langle {\bar \psi \psi } \right\rangle for a massless Dirac spinor is nonzero. We also give a coordinate-independent formula for the bispinor S(x)Sˉ(x)S(x)\bar S(x') introduced by Breitenlohner and Freedman [1], and establish the precise connection between our results and those of Burges, Davis, Freedman and Gibbons [2]

Waveforms for Gravitational Radiation from Cosmic String Loops

    Get PDF
We obtain general formulae for the plus- and cross- polarized waveforms of gravitational radiation emitted by a cosmic string loop in transverse, traceless (synchronous, harmonic) gauge. These equations are then specialized to the case of piecewise linear loops, and it is shown that the general waveform for such a loop is a piecewise linear function. We give several simple examples of the waveforms from such loops. We also discuss the relation between the gravitational radiation by a smooth loop and by a piecewise linear approximation to it.Comment: 16 pages, 6 figures, Revte

A New Waveform Consistency Test for Gravitational Wave Inspiral Searches

    Get PDF
Searches for binary inspiral signals in data collected by interferometric gravitational wave detectors utilize matched filtering techniques. Although matched filtering is optimal in the case of stationary Gaussian noise, data from real detectors often contains "glitches" and episodes of excess noise which cause filter outputs to ring strongly. We review the standard \chi^2 statistic which is used to test whether the filter output has appropriate contributions from several different frequency bands. We then propose a new type of waveform consistency test which is based on the time history of the filter output. We apply one such test to the data from the first LIGO science run and show that it cleanly distinguishes between true inspiral waveforms and large-amplitude false signals which managed to pass the standard \chi^2 test.Comment: 10 pages, 6 figures, submitted to Classical and Quantum Gravity for the proceedings of the Eighth Gravitational Wave Data Analysis Workshop (GWDAW-8

Data documentation for the 1981 summer vegetation experiment

    Get PDF
The mobile agricultural radar sensor was used to collect data from 31 fields in the floodplain of the Kansas River east of Lawrence, Kansas during the summer of 1981. Corn, soybeans, and wheat crops were observed from May 1 to November 11. Radar backscattering measurements were acquired at 10.2 GHz for VV and VH polarizations at 50 deg incidence angles for all fields and at 30 deg, 40 deg, 50 deg, 60 deg, and 70 deg for nine of the 31 fields. Target parameters describing the vegatation and soil characteristics, such as plant moisture, plant height, soil moisture, etc., were also measured. The methodology, radar backscatter data and associated ground-truth data obtained during this experiment are documented

Conformal Field Theory Correlators from Classical Field Theory on Anti-de Sitter Space II. Vector and Spinor Fields

    Get PDF
We use the AdS/CFT correspondence to calculate CFT correlation functions of vector and spinor fields. The connection between the AdS and boundary fields is properly treated via a Dirichlet boundary value problem.Comment: 14 pages, LaTeX2e with amsmath, amsfonts packages; v2:interactions section corrected, reference adde
