The effect of processing (combined sprouting and fermentation) on chemical composition, tannin content, in vitro protein digestibility and mineral element composition of five local varieties were studied. The five varieties studied were: "chakalari white, chakalari red, yafimoro, tumbuna and mire". The parameters were assayed using standard methods (proximate analysis, tannin content, in-vitro protein digestibility and mineral element composition). The results for tannin content showed that processing decreased tannin content between the ranges of 2.08%-14.58% for the five cultivars. As for mineral composition, there was a general decrease in percentage mineral composition of most varieties when comparison was made between raw and processed samples. Processing increased protein digestibility which ranged between 93.78%-95.68% as compared to the unprocessed samples. These result hence showed that processing (combined sprouting and fermentation) decreases the tannin content of sorghum, increases in-vitro protein digestibility and decreases mineral element composition of sorghum

Abstract: The Study on Hemibagrus nemurus (Valenciennes, 1840) gills was designed to investigate the influence of monogenean irritation coupled with water quality condition of the pond (earthen pond) in Perlok, Pahang. Three hundred and eighty fish host were examined, their gills were excised and fixed in 3% glutaraldehyde for scanning electron microscopy and in bouin's solution for histology. In the infected fish gills, the pathological alterations observed such as proliferative, degenerative and necrotic changes in the epithelium of gill filaments. In the secondary lamellae, telangiectasia, fusion of secondary lamellae and excessive mucous cells proliferation were observed. Correlation was made between water quality parameters and intensity of monogenean infestation in the ponds. It can be concluded that gill alterations as a result of monogeneans irritation and poor water quality in fish ponds may serve as a sensitive biomarker for pollutants

Continuous burning of fossil fuel has a great impact on the environment. Thus, moving toward renewable energy system or hybridization of alternative energy systems can reduce the emission of hazardous gases produced by the fossil fuels. This paper presents a techno-economic analysis of hybrid PV/diesel and battery system configuration of five (5) Houses at Barhim Quarters, Katsina, Nigeria. HOMER optimization software was used for the techno-economic analysis. This paper shows how a meaningful amount of CO2 can be reduce and the impact of PV penetration by the optimized hybrid PV/diesel system configuration. Having compared the configurations such as the PV-diesel-battery, PV-diesel without battery, Standalone diesel and standalone PV system based with 0.434/kW,0.434/kW, 0.645/kW, 0.721/kWand0.721/kW and 0.908/kW respectively as their cost of energy. Considering the Net present costs, cost of energy, CO2 emission, excess of electricity generated and renewable penetration, a PV-diesel-battery Hybrid Power System (HPS) was proposed for the area under focus
